Rams QB coach likes Goff's growth, but 'he's far from a finished product'

The list remains daunting, even in the midst of his most encouraging performance to date.
daunt·ing
[ˈdôn(t)iNG, ˈdän(t)iNG]

ADJECTIVE
  1. seeming difficult to deal with in anticipation; intimidating:
    "a daunting task"
synonyms: intimidating · formidable · disconcerting · unnerving · unsettling

Really? When I watch Jared Goff play, or hear him in interviews, I don't sense that the job is daunting for him. I see a 22-year-old, wise beyond his years, humble enough to accept instruction, who does not wilt under criticisms, and patient enough to accept gradual progress. Unlike most of his media, and sports critics, he also does not resort to petty hyperbole, and self-glorification. Jared deflects praise, accepts blame, and elevates his teammates and coaches. Though he would be morally correct to do so, Jared also does not lash out at critics when they slander him and say factually incorrect things about him.

**Ironically, Jared Goff, (and Sean McVay, for that matter) tend to be the adults in the room.

It was the type of stretch that made one believe that the former No. 1 overall pick may actually thrive one day;
...like that day, for example. He thrived that day.

Believe me," Olson said of Goff, "he's far from a finished product.
Kind of like all of us. We are all a work in progress. Tom Brady will tell you he is still working at getting better. But that is true. Jared is working at getting better. How exciting for all of us.

**Those that have arrived, usually do so in a hearse.

In the days leading up to that, though, Goff struggled, throwing six interceptions over a three-day stretch during practice.
Wait...your talking about a practice? Really? Other than Aaron Rodgers famous article where he tested his limits in practice, a few years back, throwing multiple interceptions, and he was positioned as a genius for doing so, is there another example of a quarterbacks training camp results someone can point me to that have been scrutinized like this? STRUGGLED? In practice?

The next threshold for Goff -- the toughest threshold for Goff -- is to make performances like Saturday his norm.
I don't sense this is going to be a tough threshold. He will have his bad days, don't get me wrong, but I look at Jared Goff, and his team of coaches, and I see, "We got this."

Goff has accepted the challenge, and if Saturday was any indication, he has shown remarkable growth.
Boom. Maturity. A quiet leader.

Anybody that thinks he's a finished product in his 2nd training camp hasn't been watching football for long.
True. @OldSchool knows the drill.

Goff Press Conference 8-23: Pharoh & McVay

Goff definitely seems like he's maturing! To me he seems more relaxed, and comfortable. He seems to be learning a lot from McVay!

McVay said a few important things:
* The game plan Saturday vs the Chargers will be basically the same as it was against the Raiders as far as "Starters Playing Time!
* He Love's the new rule change that allows him to keep 90 men thru week 4 of the pre-season!
* And THE BIG ONE ...He's picking Mayweather to Win the Fight!!(y):D

Rams Bring Back Tyrunn Walker

Well, besides Purcell, who did we have to back up Brockers? Only Smart has looked effective at NG. And Purcell...but that was against 3rd stringers.

Well, I actually had Omarius Bryant ahead of Purcell on my own depth chart, although he may be used more as a DE if he can make the squad, but i'm now guessing Walker may jump ahead of them both behind Brockers. jmo.

PFF Team of the Week- Rams Represent

And I believe prior to their infamous 0-16 regular season, the Lions went 4-0 in the preseason.

Still, I liked what I saw from Goff. I'm still not satisfied with how Gurley is running, though.
I was thinking of this the other day. Teams that go 4-0 in the preseason don't always do too well in the regular season. And I too am concerned a little about Gurley and I've been in his corner from the start. He seems to have hit somewhat of a wall. Im hoping he is just saving a little bit right now after that brutal season last year.

Discredited Every Snowflake Placated Now Network Predictably Disrespects Goff Again

I have no illusions that will be some rough patches for Goff this year against superior defenses, but I also think that Dak Prescott and Carson Wentz are going to have an even rougher time of it. There is 'tape' now of them playing in the same systems as last year. they will have been dissected by D Coordinators who will game plan their tendencies under pressure. Dak won't have his Zeke security blanket for six weeks, so the load will be more on his shoulders.

There is little tape from last year that matters on Goff. Goff's situation has radically changed, so let the haters hate. It will be so delicious when I hear the collective gag reflex when Goff gets
4500 yards, 30 TD's, and 12 INT's.

Should we buy into Jared Goff and the Rams this season?

Will revisit this after the Colts game ... can't wait to see what our little 12 year old coach has in store for the Colts!!!
We're going to ride them Colts like we're Cowboys -Bustin' Bronco's! Bet on it! It will be like :deadhorse: it will be that easy! And that's with or without Luck Playing! It won't matter!!(y)

NFL Players Association: Lockout or strike in 2021 is “almost a virtual certainty”

I was never much of an NHL fan until the Kings won a Stanley Cup to be honest. I loosely followed them when they wore Purple and Gold, and then when they got Gretsky, but like with all out-of- town sports in the 70's and 80's, it was hard to follow a team from far away. So any strike before that, wasn't important to me. The MLB strike was like the final straw in a lot of ways, where it went from being my favorite sport to being in second place to the NFL..

*shrugs
That's just the way it is for me.

I guess it would be like how many Ram Fans came from there Super Bowl run around the country?

Jamon Brown vs Raiders

Sounds like a great idea. I know I would love a play by play breakdown of as many players as possible.

The question is how many would be willing to do it. Took me a few hours just to take notes on one half of football. A full game maybe 3+ hour project, if someone wants to be thorough.

I want to do a breakdown of the other lineman but don't have the time.
I hear yuh. I've never put together anything like what you did but have spent quite a bit of time in the past going over nothing but Keenum's footwork and throwing motion from two games. I ended up scrapping most of it.

Just know that we really appreciate you doing this even if you don't have time to keep it up. Simply a great read.

2018 Draft Mock ...

Every year we gather around our favorite site (RamsOnDemand) and discuss what an amazing year it's going to be. Most of the time it is true homerism that dominates our mental faculties. This year? This year is different and I truly believe we have a shot at fielding a competitive football team. Go Rams Go!

Yeah my kids have been rollin their eyes when I told them this year's team might be different. But I really do think we finally have the right guy in charge now, and the entire org is now moving in one direction. Hopefully that direction is up, because if it's not I'm going to be far more disappointed than normal.

Ok back to my keg of Kool-Aid.
