Curious what you guys think here. Is it possible there are any residual effects lingering after that SF loss? A team we had loss to 5 straight at the time. Wanting to win at home, to clinch the division and break the losing streak. Put ourselves as the #2 seed in the NFC and close out the season playing our best football. Instead we completely choked. Blew a 17 point lead to our division rivals who we can't beat. Could not stop the run in the 2nd half when their physicality took over. Without their all pro LT in fact. Knowing we needed one stop, the defense got picked apart in less than a minute and allowed them to tie the game. Then moments later, they win the toss and immediately drive down again unstoppably and win the game.
The fact that we choked in this manner, the way you lose sometimes has a lingering effect that us actually greater than the loss itself. The way the SF fans completely took over SoFi. The way Ramsey called out our defense scheme after the game proving there is some discension in the locker room.
Success and confidence are contagious and breeds more of the same. But the flip-side is also true. Self doubt and hesitation can creep in and cripple a competitor. I'm seriously wondering how a loss like that wont have an effect on us. It takes incredible mental fortitude to brush a loss like that off and come back to play your best football.
Why can't we do the same thing to other teams? So SF took away the long pass and the short pass? ...and the running game? We need some bread and butter plays in our back pocket...we don't seem to ever have any of those that get us much needed 1st downs.
So if both the Eagles and the Niners lose the Rams would travel to Green Bay next weekend. The weather could be good for this time of year.
No snow or rain is forecast, as its should be sunny but very cold. If the Rams play in GB next weekend they could catch a weather break on Sunday. It's forecasted to snow both Saturday and Monday but be sunny (though very cold) on Sunday. Stafford knows how to play in GB. No snow and with only 6 mph winds it would keep the Ram's passing game viable.
So for those who want the Niners and Eagles to lose, then the weather might do the Rams a favor.
If there's one thing that'll help you when you get pulled over for suspected DUI is telling the cop he has "little D syndrome". That'll definitely make him let you go lol.

Washington State Patrol officers said Seahawks backup QB Smith was combative and argumentative on Monday after they pulled him over for speeding and driving erratically.
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith gave police a hard time early Monday morning when he was pulled over for speeding and erratic driving on a local highway, according to authorities.
Washington State Patrol officers said Smith threatened them and told one of them, “You have a little d—,” during a traffic stop around 2 a.m. on Monday in Kings County, according to an arrest report obtained by TMZ.
He was charged with driving under the influence after the incident, the entertainment news site reported.

Highway patrolmen said they clocked the 31-year-old backup QB driving his Rolls Royce 96 mph in a 60 mph zone and saw him changing lanes without signaling before they pulled him over and made him take a field sobriety test.
The incident took place hours after Smith’s team upset the Arizona Cardinals 38-30 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., according to ESPN.
Patrolmen said they smelled alcohol on Smith who admitted drinking wine before hitting the road earlier that night. They said Smith became combative during his sobriety test and ultimately refused to finish it.
“I joked with [Smith] about how my wife thinks I work too much,” one officer wrote in an arrest report, according to TMZ. “Somehow he said, ‘That’s because ‘you have a little d—.'”
“I said, ‘Wow, maybe that is the problem,'” the officer continued. “Then he said, ‘You have a little d—. You have little d— syndrome.'”
The officers said Smith also refused to take a breathalyzer test, so they transported him to a local hospital to collect a blood sample. But during the visit, officers said Smith became angry and refused to have his blood drawn, telling them, “I’ll f— every one of y’all up.”
The officers said they were forced to put restraints on Smith’s arms and legs so medical staff could draw his blood.
“You don’t want to see me out of these cuffs, you don’t want to know what will happen,” Smith said, according to TMZ. The officers said Smith told them, “that we were going to regret this and that we would all be famous for this.'”

On Monday night, Smith asked his Twitter followers not to rush to judgment about the incident.
“Being arrested brings a taint onto the reputation that is impossible to undo, no matter what really happened,” the quarterback tweeted. “I’m asking all of you to hold back on judging me the same as you would do for a friend or family member. I’ll have more to say down the road & ask that you bare with me.”
Smith’s attorney John Fox told ESPN that his client “is fully cooperative with the investigation.”
“I hope that an open mind can be kept by all as the facts are ascertained,” Fox added.
1. Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford, two elite performers previously separated by 2,281 miles have just been suddenly thrown into the mix together. How can we have the slightest idea of what to expect?
2. Was Brian Allen elevated to starting center because he was that good, or because Bobby Evans (believed to be slated to take over the RG spot if Austin Corbett moved to center) was that bad?
3. Will Darrell Henderson stay healthy enough to be the RB1, or is it going to be Sony Michel's job?
4. Is Van Jefferson the biggest sleeper on the offense, or will it be one of the rookies?
5. How many deep completions before DJax is regarded as a FA steal?
6. Does Andrew Whitworth have 17+ upper-tier LT games left in him?
7. Could Aaron Donald become the first 4 time NFL Defensive Player of the Year recipient?
8. What will Leonard Floyd do for an encore?
9. Is David Long finally ready for a rotation spot?
10. Will A'Shawn Robinson and Bobby Brown make us forget Michael Brockers?
11. Is this still a Top 5 defense?
12. Is Matthew Stafford an MVP candidate?
13. Who is our kickoff returner?
14. Will Tutu Atwell make an impact as a rookie?
15. Who will emerge as Floyd's bookend... Lewis? Garrett? Someone else? Nobody?
16. Will the Rams get over their recent struggles against the 49ers, while continuing their success against the Seahawks and Cardinals?
17. Will the Rams have a home field advantage at SoFi?
18. Will AvengerRam freeze his Floridian tuchus off in late November at Lambeau?
Fun lookback.
1- I think what we saw is about what was expected out of the relationship.. or slightly under. The turnovers were definitely more of a problem than I expected.
2- Both
3-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPE!!
4-I would argue that Cooper Kupp was the sleeper. He went from "really solid WR" to "ABSOLUTE SUPERSTAR". His jump was greater than anyone else's jump.
5-Still waiting for an answer. lol
6-YUUUUUUUUUUUP!!!
7-Yes, but won't be because of voter fatigue, not because he's not the best defensive player, by a significant amount.
8-Give a repeat performance
9-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPE!
10- And Greg Gaines! Yes, absolutely.
11-No
12-Yes
13- Wasn't on the roster at the time you asked.
14-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... no
15- No one.. made a trade!
16-Fuck no
17-Fuck no
18-
19-Seems improbable, but not impossible
20- Will we see real growth from McVay this year?
Dang, both the Curds RB's are GTD? And DHop is out? Thats pretty big for us.
First game, were we got beaten down, Edmonds had 120 yard, Conner had 50 yards and 2 TD's, Murray had 39 for a total of 216 yards rushing. Hopkins was avg with 4/67. AJ Green had best receving day 5/67 TD. Donald was largely uneffective.
Second game were we kicked their asses, Edmonds was out, Conner got 13/31 2TD and Murray got 7/61 for only 103 yards rushing. Hopkins was banged up but produced 5/54. Conner also had 9/94 receiving. AJ green went off for 7/102. Donald WRECKED them in this game for 3 sacks.
If in fact those RB's are out, we should have 2 main focuses; contain Murray in pocket and stick Ramsey to Green like glue. If Donald has another Donald type game, we can easily win this one.
I never said he was the only problem. Right there in the post you replied to. I did say he is totally responsible for the D. But go ahead and mis quote what people say to support your stance.
The Rams are who we thought they were. A good team who at times are amazing on offense and effective on defense. But they have flaws that will not be fixed this season but we sure hope they get some off season attention. Tackling is horrendous. ILB is well below average. Physicality in the interior OL is subpar. DB talent is thin. I like or love everything else. Make some noise in the playoffs and get ready to remedy the few deficiencies we have in the off-season. This is a very talented roster. Go Rams!!!
We either trade away our top picks or use them on wr and rb. We need to add a few smash mouth monsters to our roster instead of drafting small receivers that we didn't really need. If you draft all your lineman in the mid and late draft, you end up with what we have.
Yeah, he was a funny guy. I remember the first time i heard one of his stand ups in the 90s when all I knew him from was Full House and AFHV... was like... wait... that's the Full House guy telling that crass and dirty joke? Was a bit shocking lol. But everyone has said he was the kindest man you'll meet.
That sucks my condolences Loyal.
I lost a 31 year old member of my team earlier this year.
It tore me up, I immortalized him by designing and making stickers that are plastered all over my equipment.
Life is precious and the older I get the more things affect me
I wouldn't have such a problem with their coming back if it wasn't for how the whiners needed a TD and 90 yards in 80 secs to even tie the game. And then Morris went into super mode prevent a win defense. That's the only problem I really had with this game.
Why the heck was Ramsey not stuck on Deebo with some over the top help? Just baffles me.
F 69er fans. High quantity. Low quality. I’m sure there are some decent ones but I’ve yet to meet one. They dont admit when they suck or fail. And They don’t pay up when they lose a bet. Lowest of the low in my book.
I met one. A cool guy I used to work with back in the early 90s. Didn't brag, gloat, or whine like the others do. Told me a story that he was on MNF as a kid for the PPK halftime. Several years later I ended up seeing him do that throw in his 9er gear on youtube, name on the screen, etc and so I sent the edited vid to him. Despite my hatred for 99.9% of whiner fans this guy stood out as the most humble. Plus he was there with them during the pre-80s losing. Not like the ignorant bandwagoners who came out in the 80s who think trophies started then. For me he's the exception.
In McVay's press conference he indicated that Rochell might be back this week (possibly) and Ernest Jones was possible the week after. Not sure he wasn't just posturing, but there is some hope if we can get past the Cards at least.
Staley is a Fangio disciple so yes his defense will work really well in LA. That said the weakness of the Fangio system is defending the run. This is why Staley's defense couldn't stop the Niner's rushing attack. Fangio and Staley ask their front 7 to play the run second to defending the pass. The front 4 play the run on their way to the QB.
The Niners have emerged as the primary competition for the Rams within the division. Zimmer takes a different approach philosophically. He prioritizes the run on early downs to get the offense behind the chains. Then he plays the pass. That kind of emphasis change is what is going to be needed to beat the Niners consistently. He also does a lot to confuse the QB as to what he's facing.
This is why I like Fangio, but the Rams need to scheme to stop strong running teams like the Niners. IMO they would get that more with Zimmer than Fangio.
He probably would be open to the Ram's DC job as it will open doors for him to return as a HC if he wants. But he's 65 right now so finishing his career as a DC might appeal to him. There is no question that the Rams roster would be enticing.
