Rams Coach Sean McVay and Fiancée Veronika Khomyn 'Proudly Stand with' Ukraine

As someone coming from a military family, I can say that NATO prepped the Ukrainian Army for over a year. As a consequence, the Ukrainian Army completely overhauled its military command structure. They went from the Soviet-style to the NATO-style of command structure. They gave more discretion to field command down to the non-com level. My nephew who was stationed out of Ft Huachuca training Delta Force was over there for 18 months. It's the reason they are kicking ass, and targeting leadership, i.e. command structure, such as generals, and unit Commodes. It's why their first shots are often to take out leadership and then the rest of the unit retreats because they don't know what else to do.

The Ukrainians are fighting just as a NATO army would fight. It's proving that NATO would destroy the Russian military in any fight. It's also validating what the USMC has done by eliminating their tank corps. They know that light infantry with a heavy emphasis on AT weapons can stop the Chinese Army because they fight like the Russians. The US has been over in Taiwan for over a year doing exactly what they did in Ukraine. IMO the Chinese won't stand much chance either. Their logistics have to cross the straits. You know what is going on in Ukraine has got to give them pause. As was proved in WWII amphib attacks are the most complex form of attack there is.

The mistake made in Ukraine by the US and also in Taiwan is they should have had boots on the ground to act as a tripwire, just like there is in Korea. Putin would probably have not invaded because it meant direct contact with the US which could have been reinforced quickly. The US would have had air superiority almost immediately. If the US wants to really deter China they need to have a large "training and advisory force" on the ground in Taiwan. The stupid ambivalence of "maybe" we will fight is no deterrent at all.

Tripwire boots on the ground has worked in Korea and in Europe and will work in Taiwan.

RIP Scott Hall

just went to the wrestling show in chillicothe ohio this past weekend. was not aware of the scott hall situation til sunday. this was originally scheduled for march 2020, but we all know what happened then. plenty of top talent was there, kevin nash, kurt angle, new age outlaws (BA Billy Gunn is in stunning shape), kevin sullivan, tommy rich, barry windham, ricky steamboat, greg valentine, Rick & Scott Steiner , Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard and JJ Dillon as well.

not nearly the fan as my co-worker i went with (at least collector wise as he has show posters from the 60's / 70's and 80's -----so much fun watching how quickly the wrestlers (barry windham in this case) remembered the when, where and whys of the match(es) on the poster. although their bodies are beat up, most of the wrestlers i've met have razor sharp memories. I usually pick up a book or two if possible, those are like history books that make enjoyable reads (especially JJ Dillon's that I bought in 2019.)

Happy 1 month Anniversary

Still doesn't feel real. What an amazing season.
This is where I'm at. A while ago I started a thread called, "Anyone else still in disbelief?" and to be honest, that's still mostly true for me.

That loss to the Titans was awful. And then the loss to the Niners was even worse-- just seemed like the Rams couldn't provide an answer to a tough, physical ball-control team. And then after the third loss in a row to the Packers, I thought, "Rams are still good but maybe we just don't have what it takes to win it all this year." I still held out SOME hope of course, but mostly of the "ya never know, sports are so damn unpredictable" variety.

Watching then stack solid wins to close out the season was great, and boosted my optimism.

But that crazy roller coaster ride of the last 5 games... the weird collapse against Niners... the demolishing of the Cards... the NEAR collapse against the Bucs.... the nail biter gut check revenge against the Niners... the crazy close Super Bowl... i mean it's all so wild and unpredictable and nerve wracking and indescribable.

The resiliency, the mental toughness, the camaraderie... all completely off the charts for this crazy lovable team.

Wow. Unbelievable.

Yeah the Rams are World Champs, but I still can't quite wrap my head around the wild ride they took to get there.

Saffold cut by Titans, signed by Bills

RODGER SAFFOLDG, BUFFALO BILLS
Rodger Saffold

Bills signed LG Rodger Saffold, formerly of the Titans, to a one-year contract.

The deal features a void year in 2023 for cap purposes. Saffold was released by the Titans last week to save on cap space, but he was still playing at a solid level. He was ranked as a top-50 guard by Pro Football Focus and earned the first Pro Bowl nod of his career. He hasn't missed more than two games in a season since 2015. The Bills have frequently turned to affordable free agents to address their needs in the tranches in recent years. Though Saffold will be 34 years old by the time the 2022 season starts, he should still give the Bills a solid starter at guard while playing for a reasonable price.
ouch. The rich get richer.

Ramsey's Toolbox

Prob with Ramsey is he's a big dude for a corner. So I suspect as he loses that extra gear as he ages he's going to be more of a physical corner who has help over the top, and then eventually a safety role.

So hopefully things line up for the Rams to nab a really nice CB prospect in this draft. I think Ramsey has hit that window now where he's going to need a little help vs the best wideouts. This past season he was doing a lot of grabbing and clutching.

Russell Wilson traded to Broncos

I expect him to come flying out of the gate but then levelling off. Your right about him holding onto the ball too long. But he will have a much better defense to help him in Denver. So he won't have to carry the team.

He is a bit of a Prima Donna thinking he should have won more Super Bowls by now. Its a ludicrous concept. During his first camp he wrote goals on a piece of paper. One was to win multiple Super bowls, another was to break all the passing records. Pete was immediately hooked and convinced that Russ was going to do it. But realistically isn't that every NFL players goals, or every kids goals that plays football? Is it really some unique concept? Its as if he thinks that it should have happened and since it hasn't it is Pete's and Schneider's fault. Even if he had the best team in football all of those years a lot has to go right for a team to win a SuperBowl. So, Russ seems a bit delusional about his grandeur and is a bit of a finger pointer. It will be interesting to see how long it takes before his camp starts leaking things to the press about him being unhappy with the coaching.

Here is something Cowherd said about Wilson. He said "I've had him on the show, and he's about as interesting as cardboard." Is he going to be able to have the charisma to carry the team through hard situations. Will they "rally" around him? Its not a given.
There’s nothing cutting edge or cool about Wilson. He’s an intelligent, hard working grinder in my book. He may be stiff and a bit of a teachers pet but give me 100 Wilsons over selfish media darlings like Tom Bratty and Jimmy G-string. Or over selfish pricks like Aaron Rodgers. Rams owned him but I think he’s still sniffing top 5 QB status on the right team.
