“The Hunted”: Truth or Myth

I dunno. I'm not sure beating us means more than beating a division rival. Buffalo wants to beat us. But do that want it as bad as they want to beat Belicheck and the Patriots? I don't think so. Same as the AFC west teams who hate each other. Sure, we'll see teams play the Rams with more intensity. But its more due to knowing how good they are than being defending champs.

Favorite Childhood Toys

I'm not kidding when I say I only had 4 store-bought toys in my life. The last one I got was when I was 10 and it was one I worked for. It was a gas engined plane that was controlled by a lanyard. No RC back then. I never flew it for fear of breaking the only toy I had. Yes I played with it but as simply a static toy. My siblings and I made our own toys when we grew up. We never felt deprived in any way. The house was always filled with loving parents and family. We had dogs and cats, and I had a pet rat.

It's why I eventually owned a hobby shop. I sat in my store building plastic models for display, talking to the neighborhood kids who would drop by and BS about stuff. Best job I ever had. Didn't make a lot of money but I never felt it was work.

Yup that yellow plastic plane was my pride and joy, that and my stuffed bear I had since I was 3 yrs old.
I was given a Japanese Zero plane of the same type by a neighbor down the street. They used to build their planes from scratch and probably had twenty of them hanging in the garage. They would go compete with them on weekends, but the engines/props sort of scared me and that probably kept me out of it. That, and we didn't have money for things like that.

7 Takeaways from Rams victory over Chargers ...

I can't see it on the 53 at this point.
McCutcheon and Powell have complicated the math a bunch, imo.. If you had a different guy who could reliably return, you wouldn't have Powell on the roster... and McCutcheon just looks like one of those crazy gems you find in UDFA once in a while.

I'm already counting Perkins out, but I'm probably in the minority.

As per my posted pre-season game 1 depth chart, the math works for McCutcheon, Powell & Carter making the 53. And yes, I agree, Perkins as QB #3 would be out.
jmo.

Rams Waive 5 Players

The kicker/punter I thought did a decent job. He might end up on someone's squad if an injury comes up.

Yeah, but are Punters even players? Les Snead & The Rams are an amazing franchise when it comes to
Finding those types of players.

Tell us this. How many times have you seen a GM claim a punter in the off-season & come up with a draft pick.
Normally back in the day I would come up with that would be Ram for value sake?

All I’m saying is The Rams do things right. To answer or agree with your post is The Rams will cut a player like
Dicker just to give him a chance to make another NFL team.

The Rams are big on relationships & developing men to be better.Mentoring, teaching, training & carrying for the person(player)

You know Gay is strong.

49ers have no love for Rams

NOTE: This is not an attempt to make this thread political.

I think we should start a viral campaign to "cancel" the 49ers name. After all, the 1849 Gold Rush was accomplished with a significant amount of slave labor (look it up!). Shouldn't that be just as big a reason to change a name as the recent examples of the Washington Redskins and Cleveland Indians?

Seriously, I really don't care about such things in the grand scheme, but wouldn't it be fun to fuck with the Whiners and make those Northern California Hippies feel guilty enough to stop wearing 49ers gear?
Sure.. but then they’d just become victim celebrities and do the “victim” tour and just calcify the support and love of their fans.

GAME DAY Preseason Week 1: Rams at Chargers - 10pm ET

He doesn't have ANYTHING to prove to fans at this point. If he is showing out in practice, why in the HELL would McVay put him in pre-season games to prove some point? So that some journeyman looking to score a big play can blow him up? To appease a few doubting fans?

If McVay plays him, he plays him. But I think there will be a goal. And that goal won't be to prove anything to a few fans.
That’s a good point. 90 man rosters are full of undisciplined, desperate players looking at their last chance to make an impression. Best to not take chances against them with players locked into the 53 man roster.

Who are you most interested in watching Saturday?

Agreed that Perkins doesn't seem to have an NFL arm. Fun to watch him scramble and make plays, though. But the hype over him last year was overdone IMHO.

Is McCutcheon ahead of Harris now? Part of decision making has to be based on who, if cut, would be claimed by another team... McCutcheon today looked like a guy ya can't cut.

Tutu has played so damn well in practice they won't let us watch him in preseason.

Yeah, I believe the only way Perkins makes the 53 this year is if the concern for Stafford's arm (tendinitis) remains high. I'd love Perkins to get a pre-season game with Wolford starting as QB and he (Perkins) comes in as a situational RB.

I don't believe you would have to cut Harris if you don't want to, just move him onto the PUP list as an injured player and place him on the IR mid-season, at least he'd have an opportunity to make the 2023 team.

Tutu may get some playing time in if they use Wolford in one these two remaining pre-season games. jmo.

OT: Hard Knocks

Saw the first one with bad camera angle on youtube. I stopped watching after hearing that one player shouting out in one of the huddles during camp. Was immediately turned off. It was just too much too early for me. Screaming all that long-winded hype to pump players means nothing in camp. Best be saving that stuff for big games. (*cough* Donald). No wonder the Lions are.... the Lions.

CBS, Fox contracts with NFL will prevent “significant reduction” in price of Sunday Ticket

Just purchased an iPad Pro 12.9” and NFL+ and it works flawlessly… did NOT work with my iPhone XS Max.

Was talking with the Apple guy there and he was saying they’ve been told Apple has already bid $3B for Sunday Ticket which is in the target range for what the NFL was looking for… dunno if they’ll win, but seems they’ve thrown their hat into the ring

Got a Liam Coen question for y’all…

IMHO, Coen will be a hot commodity come the end of the season and I predict he will be the next Head Coach of the Carolina Panthers as Matt Rhule will head back to college.
Everyone's looking for the next Sean McVay. Heck, if his gardener applied for an NFL job and put "Worked for Sean McVay" on his resume someone would hire him.

D back in top 5 in 2022

I'm not sure I can pinpoint a single reason why, I think our D is going to be far improved from last years.
But I think we are back in the top 5 next year.
Whether it's the fact that I don't see teams physically dominating us in the run game as the 9er's
did at times. Or the shear depth in the backfield, with some of the rookies already making their presence felt.
Gaines-Robinson-Donald ? Is there a better trio inside?

I just have a feeling we will a much tighter and consistent D in Raheems second year.
If there is a concern maybe it's ROLB,But even there we have a group guys with serious potential.
And I feel at least one, or even two of them will have a breakout year in 2022. Just too much raw talent.
With Ernest and Bobby we will be more flexible and will not be as quick to pull in a nickel set.
Don't know just got a feeling.
Anyone?
The Rams' defense will be much, much better in an area which had been a serious weakness for years: linebacking and stopping the short run/pass game over the middle. Wagner of course is the main difference, but he will be paired with an emerging Jones and two now fully monstrous linemen in A'Shawn and Gaines.

This will be critical in two respects. First, the Rams will now be fully equipped to stop the 49ers, a team they were fortunate to beat in the playoffs, and win the division handily. The Niners will not be able to use their short, physical game to march down the field with Wagner in the middle with Jones. Second, for the same reason the Rams D will be greatly improved against power teams such as Tennessee, Baltimore and others.

What the Rams will of course miss is Von Miller paired with AD. In the playoffs this combination enabled the Rams to bring a crushing, game changing, championship winning pass rush at crucial times in crucial games. Not saying the Rams will have a bad pass rush, just that it is unlikely to be as good, and may not be as capable at stopping great passing attacks in the playoffs.

Imo Rams will need a more consistent and higher scoring offense, and what should still be an outstanding D, to run the table in the playoffs.
