Yup great clip it was posted in the media fallout thread!
I could see Shanahan starting some defensive players, like Dre Greenlaw and Fred Warner and playing them just long enough for them to intentionally injure Stafford, Kupp or Nacua, then taking them out after the first quarter.non of that matters... its just not worth risking your Superbowl shot getting players hurt in a game that means nothing.
We were in a similar situation in 2017 or 2018 against them and sat everyone.
You knew it would happen. Time and time again they just score too fast, only for the other team to march for the go-ahead score on the final possession of the game.Chris Collinsworth totally jinxed the Chargers by saying something about a Christmas miracle for them. Then the wheels flew off.
IMO the only OL that is in question is Jackson. He's going to want a big payday extension. The Rams will probably put a first round tender on him as a RFA. But that will only buy them a year. If his contract expectations are out of line with what they want to pay him then they will tender him and draft a LT.
I think they will make Dotson an offer but IMO he might not accept it. He carries a dead cap of $2.5M and he will be 28 next year. I can see them offering him a 4 year deal grossing about $25M. Whether he accepts it or not IMO will depend upon the guaranteed money. I think Snead and McVay will have to decide how they feel about McClendon because IMO he would be looked at as the RG starter other than Dotson. What is curious is that they renegotiated Kevin's contract when they signed him essentially making him a FA next year. That would seem to suggest that Dotson was viewed as a bridge for Warren. But I think Dotson has exceeded their expectations so now do they pay him or let him walk to be a comp pick?
I don't know if there's a better group of 3 receivers than Kupp, Puka and Robinson. Tutu Atwell is becoming an afterthought. Next year is the final year of his contract. He's gonna have to really step up if he wants to be part of the future plans. Stafford has to trust his receivers and it seems he trusts Robinson more than he did Tutu.I'm pretty sure he scored 2 tds against the Rams in that epic 2018 mnf game. He's always been able to make plays for whatever team he's played for over the years.

I agree on corner and Edge being priorities 1A-1B.I've finished watching the game and the late rally by New Orleans, following the same thing by the Commodes last week, is really worrisome. It isn't good to get complacent and think that the game is over- you play hard until the last play of the game.
The other thing that stood out is what a difference a true lockdown corner and a legit pass rusher opposite Young would make to this defence. There are loads of Round One prospects in the 2024 draft at both positions, so we should snag the best CB or Edge available in the first round and then hope that a good one drops to our second pick. There are several excellent safeties entering free agency, so securing one of them and locking up Dotson would be my main FA priorities.
One thing's for certain- nobody is going to want to face us in this year's playoffs, if we get there, and we could well be an elite team next year.
Yea I wasn’t talking about any poster in particular. I can’t remember who posts what and have no desire to dig stuff up.This was the first game Durant showed any physicality and I was glad to see it. But that's his biggest weakness.. literally, being weak.
And.. I was in the Dotson camp from the minute they traded for him.. Pitt had him out of position.
Yeah I was fully expecting that but to be fair they did have a full plate of bullshitting!Great interview. I am disappointed that Eisen didn't ask Marshall any Rams questions....
I hear ya, the best way to get in is if things fall our way and we don't need to win the last game. The most rewarding is if we beat up the niners, smack their stars around a little and bust into the playoffs on a serious high. The next best thing is if they sit their players and we win and get it. If that's what it takes to get in I'm all for it. The playoffs are the goalBut twice? I agree with your sentiment. It would be much more rewarding to earn our way in with wins. But at this point, it doesn't matter to much to me how we get in. Just get in. And do some damage there.
I just don't see a 5-6 year window being the thing. I think it's 2-3.Great posts. I have enjoyed your conversation, but wonder whether we need to spend that kind of money on FA [outside of signing our own, such as Dotson and Shelton]? We proved this year the value of patience in FA including signing players after the draft. One thing is for certain, the draft looks promising. Importantly, the positions where we need the most help appear stacked across the top 75 to 100 players.
I favour being at least somewhat conservative so that we can open up a 5 to 6-year window beyond this so far great - exciting! - season. I would include the possibility of trading picks for players but FA is pretty deep at positions such as Edge OT Guard Center

$65 million is a lot of money to put on the books. My question is, do we need to spend anywhere near that much to open up a long window of contending in the NFC?

I'd be more interested with Jordan, Bird, Barkley, Hakeem, Reggie, Shaq, and others. Especially, scorers from the 80's and through the 90's. Those guys took a beating game in and game out.I wonder what Kobe's scoring average would be in today's basketball.
When I consistently see teams scoring over 120 points a game, there is just no defense today due to the rules.
