CONTEST Attention... For Our UK Bruddas Across The Pond

My English friend stopped by my office this morning and shared something with me to pass on to our UK Brethren. It has to do with the Rams vs jags game over there this season.

He listens to a UK Sports radio station called Talk Sport all day because he is a diehard soccer fan. That station just announced an amazing giveaway for The Rams game at Wimbly. Best he could remember... you'll receive 6 VIP tickets to the game with drinks and food included. You'll also receive $£5000.00 cash. You must live in the UK to play.

It's a drawing. Each entry is only $£2.00. I guess you can enter once free by mailing in a post card... but $£2.00 is nothing for that kind of return. Wow

He told me that you guys will all know that radio station... apparently it is the biggest sports radio station in the world.

The only thing that I'd like to require on this is... If any of you guys win, you gotta give me two of the tickets so the wife and I can fly over for the game! Seems only fair right? LOL

GOOD LUCK

'25 Rams D vs '22 Eagles D

In 2022 the Eagles became the 1st and only team in NFL history with 4 players having double digit sacks. Hassan Reddick (16), Javon Hargrave (11), Brandon Graham (11l, Josh Sweat (11) are the only to do it, so far. Does our quadheaded monster of Verse, Young, Turner and Fiske, who are already knocking on the door, have a chance to replicate this production this year? What would our teams' ceiling be this year if it were to happen? I am more optimistic this year than years past despite the unsettling situation with Stafford and AJ. I think this D is gonna be special this year, just a gut feeling maybe.

Just for the helluva it, let's set a new record and make it 5 when Stewart joins the mix with double digits sacks in a situational role, just like Sweat's role in '22.

Game one feels

Both teams seemed a little tight.

I think we all would've felt quite a bit better with a 21-9.. or even 21-16 final score. Not punching that last one is was a major bummer. Hopefully they do better with that.

It was an underwhelming day for the Rams pass rush. Not bad at all.. but not what we all were probably hoping for. Looking for more out of them moving forward.

The safeties... hmmm.... Kinchen and Curl just looked slow to me today. Let's hope it's just a blip... and, yes, I know neither are exceptional athletes.

One thing that really made me happy was the two turnovers the Rams forced. They made plays on the ball.. it was awesome. Both plays were exceptional.. Durant's pick and Landman's punch. I'm hoping for a lot more forced turnovers this season.

Xavier Smith showing up in the passing game makes me sooooooo freaking happy. He really looks like a guy who has made a significant step up this year. And he looks solid returning kicks.

Whittington looked fantastic today. Fantastic. The WR group is insane.

One of the biggest and most understandable sources of concern were both starting tackles. I'm feeling pretty good about them after that game. Anderson got big Rob once.. but those are two elite edges and they DID NOT wreak havoc.

Blake Corum is so much more explosive than Kyren. Sorry. I want to see more of him.

Davis Allen looks like he's taken a nice year-three step. At least in the passing game.

ILBs not a problem.

The defense really feels like a UNIT. It feels like it's more than just the sum of its parts.. Shula and staff are doing some cooking.

Witherspoon looks like some of the hype I've heard about him after a full offseason may be justified. He's not gonna be a shut down.. but he was moving really well.

Houston is considered a strong playoff contender and their defense is supposed to be excellent. I just think if the Rams had played a little cleaner.. this would've been an easy win.

Davante looks good.. but he and Stafford are obviously still building a rapport.

And.. finally... PUKA NACUA IS A GODDAMN SUPERSTAR!!!!! Jeez.. this guy.

Game Day Thread

The GDT is a live thread tradition here at ROD.

While we all get fired up watching the game, please remember our core principles; we always show respect for our team and each other.

Despite the emotional highs and lows watching a game, we will moderate this thread with that in mind, however please refrain from name calling. This applies to players, the Rams organization, and each other.

This is the core rule of the GDT. Moderators are tasked to issue thread bans, at a minimum, to maintain this standard.

This is our team. Win or lose. Good days and bad. We are here for FUN, not to be dragged down.

A more loosely moderated atmosphere can be found in the chat room.

Go Rams!

Do you think the defense…

Will be good enough to lead the way for the Rams this year? Will the offense be a more ground and pound play action type offense if JG winds up being the Qb? Somewhat similar to the Whiners style of offense under Garoppolo. If Garoppolo plays the majority of the season what is the Rams record and how much does your excitement/expectations drop off? I was extremely stoked coming into the season only to be kicked in the nuts with whats happening with Stafford.

Rams to host Saints in joint practice 8/14

I haven’t seen this posted anywhere, but it looks like the Rams are hosting the Saints instead of the Chargers tomorrow. The Chargers canceled joint practice with the Rams because of injuries.

Following Rookies Around the League “Experimental”

I may try and do this throughout the season as long as there is interest.
As the season goes on this could be an interesting way to track some rookies that we followed from college and through the draft.

I will try and find some solid sources to keep it accurate as possible ( just doing this on a whim for now)

For now this may have some inaccuracies and be a bit messy
(Starting it by phone while traveling and have a bit of time)

It will include some other notable info at times that isn’t solely rookies
Like 2nd and 3rd year players possibly breaking out or whatever it may be that makes them newsworty

It will certainly contain some hyperbole take it for what it’s worth.

Here’s a roundup of standout NFL rookie performances during the 2025 preseason (as of mid-August 2025):

Preseason Highlights: Rookie Standouts

Quarterbacks
  • Shedeur Sanders (Browns, 5th round) – In his debut, completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and 2 TDs, no interceptions. His strong outing has notably improved his Fantasy ADP (down 13 spots to QB26).
  • Jaxson Dart (Giants, 1st round) – Threw for 154 yards and a TD, orchestrating three scoring drives.
  • Cam Ward (Titans, top pick) – Preseason Week 1 grade of A−, displayed good pocket presence and accuracy. ( below will be a counterpoint )
  • Cam Miller (Raiders, 6th round) – Completed 6 of 7 passes for 76 yards, led a fourth-quarter comeback for a tie; ranked 8th in QB efficiency in Week 1, alongside elite names like Joe Burrow.
  • Tyler Shough (Saints, 2nd round) – Threw a 54-yard touchdown, finishing with 165 yards (15/22); outshined veteran Spencer Rattler in the same game.

Other Positions & Roles

  • Jihaad Campbell (Eagles, LB) – Earned a solid B for his preseason debut.
  • Drew Kendall (Eagles, C) – Received an A for playing consistently through major snaps.
  • Darius Cooper (Eagles, WR, UDF) – Delivered an A+, impressing with route running and scoring a touchdown.
  • Connor Colby (49ers, 7th-round OG) – Posted the highest PFF grade among 49ers offensive players in preseason; strong in pass protection and stepping up amid injuries.
  • Shilo Sanders (Buccaneers, UDF) – Strong debut with 37 defensive snaps: no receptions allowed, a tackle, and a QB hit.
  • Abdul Carter (Giants, EDGE) – Earned an A+ from CBS following an explosive debut: three pressures on three snaps.
  • Tyler Warren (Colts, TE, 1st round) – Graded A in Week 1, showing strong hands and effective blocking, including a 23-yard catch.
  • Eric Rogers (UDFA, Chargers, CB) – Intercepted two passes on Sunday, including a 43-yard pick-six vs. the Saints’ Tyler Shough.
  • Jalon Walker, James Pearce Jr., Xavier Watts (Falcons, various rounds) – In Week 2, Pearce Jr. logged 3 QB pressures and 4 tackles; Watts had a pair of tackles. Both earned significant run as rookie safeties.
Interesting Special Mentions

  • Cam Little (Jaguars, Kicker) – Set an NFL record with a 70-yard field goal during a 2025 preseason game.

Here’s a look at some of the most notable “disappointments” from the 2025 NFL preseason, focusing mainly on rookies and other notable
Players

1.

Cam Ward (QB, Titans – 2nd Pick)

Despite early optimism, Ward’s Week 2 showing was problematic—completing just 2-of-7 passes for 42 yards, with the first-team offense generating only 55 net yards and one first down during his time on the field. Fan reactions are split, and some accountability is being placed on performance rather than schedule or missing teammates.

2.
Chiefs’ Defensive Rookies (Omarr Norman-Lott, Ashton Gillotte, Jeffrey Bassa, Nohl Williams)

Kansas City’s defense was pummeled—especially by Seattle’s backfield—leading to concerns about their depth on the defensive line. The struggling rookies were particularly exposed; Williams even exited early due to a concussion.

3.
Bilhal Kone (CB, Ravens – 6th Round)

A devastating knee injury in his preseason appearance ended Kone’s rookie year prematurely. He tore both his ACL and MCL and will miss the entire 2025 season.

4.
Ashton Jeanty (RB, Raiders – 6th Overall)

Jeanty’s debut couldn’t have gone worse—-1 yard on three carries against the Seahawks. While offensive line issues were partially blamed, the result was still underwhelming for the highly drafted back.

5.
Jamon Dumas-Johnson (LB, Packers, UDFA)

A true preseason flop—he missed four tackles in only 25 snaps, earning the lowest PFF grade among all linebackers that week.

6.
Kaleb Johnson (RB, Steelers – 3rd Round)

Considered one of the key offensive additions for Pittsburgh, Johnson’s preseason didn’t impress: just 20 yards on eight carries (2.5 YPC). Analysts urge patience, but concerns remain about his lack of explosiveness and pass protection.

7.
Carolina Panthers Rookie Class

Once a promising group in camp, the rookies fell flat in their opener—marking the debut as “underwhelming.” While there were flashes (like McMillan’s catch or Scourton’s sack), miscues and lack of consistency held them back.

8.
Eagles’ Performance Recap: Darius Cooper Shines, While Others Lag

In the Eagles–Bengals game, cornerbacks Kelee Ringo and Adoree’ Jackson were notable disappointments, with Ringo missing a critical tackle. The edge rushers also failed to generate pressure, dampening expectations

Should Michigan be stripped of their 2023 National Championship?

This story is still in the early stages and will certainly bring more information that will be needed to make a fair determination.
As it stands now with sign stealing allegations and recruitment violations now being talked about will we see a stripping of their 2023 trophy?

Should Washington be named the 2023 NCAA Champion?
This will be interesting to watch unfold over the next several months.
