Considering we don't have a first round pick, and early second compared to mid second round really isn't much of an incentive to not try hard. I think they go all out to win as much as they can. The playing time those youngsters get will be valuable to them and us for next season. Plus, it should be all about pride. Knocking out as many teams as possible.
Players play, so yes, pride and effort matter. Fans get to decide whether a win matters or not (to fans) once you're eliminated. I want them to win every game but after elimination, I want the highest pick possible. And there is a big difference between high 2nd and mid 2nd just as between mid first and high second. The high second is where you find first round talent that's dropped because teams drafted for need or over evaluated the workout warriors. Of course games vs. certain teams (SF, Seattle, NEngland, Dallas) should always be a win no matter our record or draft slot.

Goff has returned to form with a decent OL and WRs and a good running game.
I watched the whole game. I don't see him playing any better under pressure than he did for us. It will always be the problem with Goff. It's the key difference between a Goff and a Stafford.

Spoiler feels like a good role for this team. Hope we fuck over some playoff hopefuls.

Risner seems like a good target for us, just don't get into a bidding war on him. He should be reasonably priced. Risner / Allen / Bruss sounds about the right range of what we can hope for on the interior. Bruss will need to be penciled in as starter at RG, that will be the expectation. Then a draftee at LT or C.

If it is LT he will be a project type. Whereas C might be an early starter into round three or so. But LT is more important to fill so they need to get it right.
Shelton is the best interior lineman on the team right now.
Bruss, who looked like a green rookie in preseason, would have to beat him out, which I don't see at this point.
If Bruss beat out Shelton at RG, Shelton should be moved to Center.
Using that signing as part of this example Risner/Allen/Shelton is much more likely.

Then you missed the key difference in Goff since he went to Detroit. He's no longer feeling the need to force the ball. His taking care of the ball and not turning it over is key to the Lion's win streak. When protection breaks down he either throws it away or eats it and lives to fight another down. Jared has only thrown 8 INTs last year to 19 TDs and this year he's thrown 7 INTs to 23 TDs. That is 42 TDs and 15 INTs. Stafford in the same period has thrown 51 TDs but 25 INTs. That works out to a INT % of 1.5% for Goff and 2.8% for Stafford. There is no question Stafford has the better WRs. Just for comparison, Goff's INT% in LA was 2.3 over 5 years (4 yrs under McVay) and fans wanted to run him out of town.

All I'm saying is that Goff isn't as bad as people made him out to be. He was a scapegoat for McVay. Yes Stafford won them a Super Bowl, and I love Stafford as a Ram QB. But to say Goff was a poor QB just isn't belied by the facts. Jared never had a losing season under McVay and got them to the playoffs every year but one and that one loss was due to Zuerlein missing a makeable FG after Goff got them into position to win it. Why people demonize Goff is beyond me. He's a good QB, he was just not McVay's kind of QB.

People say Goff doesn't have a strong arm or can't throw deep. Well, I guess they weren't watching the 2018 season. You don't try to elevate one player by demonizing another. IMO they stand or fall on their own merits or lack thereof.

Goff is a fine quarterback. You can win with him. He proved that with us. But no, he's not as good as Stafford. Stafford's mentality and arm talent are the difference. Stafford seems to trust himself more in crucial situations than Goff.

Don't get me wrong. I still like Goff. I just don't think he will ever be a put the game on your arm type of QB. I honestly wouldn't mind him proving me wrong.

Detroit has to lose their last 3 games. The Wash/NY loser has to lose the rest of theirs too. And we have to win our last 4. I have no illusions of us making the playoffs. I think you'd be safe if you bet your life savings that we don't.
I agree. On your advice I’ve just bet my entire life savings on the Rams not making the playoffs. All $15 dollars. Thank You!

Goff is playing pretty damn good and who knows? He could lead Detroit on a playoff run.
Even if he lead the Lions to a SB, it doesnt change the fact that the Rams dont win the SB last year without Stafford at QB

We win out finish 8-9 and Seattle and Detroit choke, sure it's possible. Don't think the Commodes and Giants will lose out either..Would be awesome to win out though just to finish strong. Or---be in the pathetic NFC South and we could still win the division..lol

Washington has @49ers, Home vs Browns & Home vs Dallas. Could conceivably see them lose all 3, but Dallas wont need to win
Detroit has @Carolina, Home vs Chicago, @ Green Bay- Hard to see them losing any of those games, much less all of them....
But in case they do.... Seattle @Kansas City, Home vs Jets and Home vs Rams- Wouldnt shock me to see Seattle needing that last game

Ending Seattle's season would be something to savor.

Maybe, maybe not.
Shelton is not bad.
Bruss was bad then had a serious injury.
Maybe he will beat him out, I don't see it, but who knows?

Risner likely is in the $10-12 million a year range.

A lot of posters here were down there n David Edwards. You NEVER hear his name anymore.

What is David Edwards future in The NFL as a player.

Does he fit in with The Rams crap O’Line?

What has he meant to The Rams organization since his Badger days.

L. Bruss has not been a player to get excited about & he was a higher draft pick than Edwards.

Edwards concussions must have really scrambled his eggs.
Hes missing the majority of an entire season due to the head injuries.
I am moving on from Edwards and Akers day 1 after this season if I am the Rams FO.
Way too early to pass any judgement regarding Bruss.
He was not great in preseason action then had a serious injury. People forget, OL is one of the biggest transitions for players from college to pro. Evan an all world talent like Orlando Pace struggled early in his career.
The Rams need to upgrade the LG spot this offseason no matter what.

That Akers guy is good. I like him.
