Could you just imagine. With baker what that would do for his career. Then imagine if we are going in AD Krupp come back and we repeat……just a Christmas dream but man how the media would suffer and better still how joyous we would be. No I’m not drunk or high lololol just dreaming.

I think Baker would be foolish to follow dollars elsewhere. Doing so could be quite risky. His best football will be playing for us IMO.
Lets say Baker plays very well the rest of the. year and the Rams win some games.....more importantly, he plays well.
Lets say the Rams can offer him $5 M a year to be a backup and possible eventual replacement for Stafford.
If he does play well and some team offers him $18M a year to be a starter....Jets, Titans, Colts, Houston, Washington, Giants, Saints, Falcons, Tampa Bay, Cardinals....there are a lot of possible suiters....Im not sure how that is foolish.

I get you. But I think this is a three strike league. Baker has struck out twice. If he does finish the season well and then takes a larger offer (it won’t be huge money) to leave, and then does badly, he’s likely out of the league. Risky.

However, if we construct a contract like he backups Stafford for a year while learning our system then becomes a starter the following year, the paycheck would potentially be much larger. I think that suits him and the team greatly and it’s far less risky for him.

There is no way McSnead lets Baker out of the building in my view. He is a gift that fell into our laps. Stafford’s health is becoming a big concern.

Anyway that’s my take.

I can’t believe there is a chance to get in and there are fans on this board who would rather tank.

I know it’s been bad but that mind set just isn’t in my make up and hopefully it isn’t in the Rams locker room either.

A five game winning streak going in to the playoffs, I’ll take that every year. Fuck them picks.
Thank you! Agree 100%. I could give a shit if the belief is we have no shot. When you make it to the dance, ya never now. We'd at least be coming in hot lol

It's not about getting crushed in the playoffs. Hell, if we made the postseason it would be with a sub .500 record. It's about playing LIKE there's a chance for the playoffs. It's getting Atwell, Durant, Williams, Lake, Kendrick, Hardy, Yeast and the rest playing for something that matters and seeing how they perform. As soon as we're eliminated, that goes out the window. Then it's about keeping a job. Which is about the one and not the team. I hope we're in it for a couple more weeks. But I don't want to turn the 6th or 7th pick in the 2nd round and 3rd rounds, into the #18 or #19!!

Detroit has to lose their last 3 games. The Wash/NY loser has to lose the rest of theirs too. And we have to win our last 4. I have no illusions of us making the playoffs. I think you'd be safe if you bet your life savings that we don't.

Considering we don't have a first round pick, and early second compared to mid second round really isn't much of an incentive to not try hard. I think they go all out to win as much as they can. The playing time those youngsters get will be valuable to them and us for next season. Plus, it should be all about pride. Knocking out as many teams as possible.

There's no such thing.
Stafford is your starting QB, salary guaranteed for 2023, 2024 and a good chunk of 2025
There's no way a guy will take a bench spot over a potential starting gig. It's entirely possible they can make it financially work for 2023, which could buy them a year to see where Stafford is at. But that's about it, and even that is a bit of a dream
If you're Mayfield, and you ride pine while Stafford starts all 17 and is back to form, you're a bit screwed. He'll only garner interest if he gets the opportunity to play

Well sure, but I think a year of learning the plays might look pretty good to a guy that has been through so much turmoil. Especially if Stafford gets injured or just hangs ‘em up after next year. There’s too much we just don’t know.

Truly, I’m just spitballing. I just have a gut feeling about this, no science or logic to back it up.

It will be interesting to see how it all evolves. At least it won’t be boring or outright depressing like so many of our games this year. Having an energetic scrambling type of QB with something to prove is quite valuable to the team. Especially with our OL lack of protection. Everything will hinge on how Baker does in the final games.

We aren’t playing for first round picks so why not try to be the spoilers?
Spoiler feels like a good role for this team. Hope we fuck over some playoff hopefuls.
Hard to argue with any of your points.
McVay seems to have little interest in having a clear bellwether back. I would choose between Williams and Akers (Williams would be my pick) and draft two RBs. I would not sign any FA RBs.

I prefer Shelton at C as well. As it is now having both Allen and Shelton playing at the same time is the best option. I don't see the Rams signing or drafting a C. I could see them upgrading a G in FA. G is normally an easier position to replace than C. I think the only way Allen gets replaced at C is if there is enough of an upgrade at G, say the Rams sign Risner from Denver and Bruss develops to the point that Shelton can be moved to Center.

My draft, by position, not player name or order would look something like....
DL, Edge, S, RB x2, TE, OT, G.
Risner seems like a good target for us, just don't get into a bidding war on him. He should be reasonably priced. Risner / Allen / Bruss sounds about the right range of what we can hope for on the interior. Bruss will need to be penciled in as starter at RG, that will be the expectation. Then a draftee at LT or C.

If it is LT he will be a project type. Whereas C might be an early starter into round three or so. But LT is more important to fill so they need to get it right.

I only hope that the whiners get fucked up (pardon my language) by some team. I would hate to somehow limp into the playoffs and get slaughtered by some team (possibly the whiners).

I'd rather reload, get the easier schedule next season and get after it next season.

If we draft in the first half of the draft and the whiners don't win the Lombardi, I'm all good, but that's just me.

The Rams will always be the away team against The 49’s

HOW SAD? Jimmy G’s career is what? This rookie QB looking than Tre Lance & is bailing them out right now

The Lions are now 7-7 with Goff leading them down for the game winning TD in the 4th Qtr. The Lions are playing well. Goff has returned to form with a decent OL and WRs and a good running game.

The Rams are playing for pride and for many, their jobs. These are developmental games without a lot of their starters. They are holding AD out to see who they really have and these games will determine their draft and FA strategy next year. We will see how good their depth really is.
