Won a SB without him, and Dallas sent him packing too

my thoughts on the game. first the bad # one is our team was not ready in the first half. second, is we had our third field goal blocked. third McVay completely left the run game in the second half. forth Williams fumbled on the goal line. fifth our Oline needs help there was some good stuff. one is we finally got Ferguson in the game but i wonder why we use our tight end like wide out instead of running them down the middle like most teams do. two is Stafford had the good stats. third the receivers were good in the second half

Can't find any numbers for anything after 2019 but the Rams record with Vinobitch and his crew but up to that point all-time was 0-8. What has it been since?

I know they won the 2018 NFCCG but how many others?
Went digging and per PFF the Rams are 3-6 with Vinobitch refereeing games from 2019 through last night. So when he officiates they are 3-14 lifetime.

What in the literal fuck...

Ok ,go ahead sit him and watch this offense suffer even more with dumbass corum or with Hunter and Watch stafford get wrecked.

Its not a cop out, he was legit hit in the face on that and shouldnt even be a fumble and his one last week was staffords handoff late because shelton cant snap a damn football.\

Now corum fumble on the other hand....
You seem to think I mean to just right out bench him. I keep saying he needs to be taken out for pivotal runs in the game as he's proven he cannot hold on to the football. Please don't make me repeat this again lol

Sorry but you can't be said to have had an excellent game when you turn the ball over. Those two don't coexist.
Plus he hardly had an "Excellent" game... he also dropped a pretty devastating pass on 3rd down that would have been a huge gain.

and then we missed the FG

Really bad loss.
Two of the three worst McVay era losses have been in the last three weeks.
At this point, it is impossible to know how good this team is.
Before the season I saw, based on the roster and improvements, a Super Bowl contender that should win 11-13 games.
Now, after 5 games, nothing is clear.
They could easily be 5-0....they could just as easily be 1-4.
They really need to go on a streak of three or four wins.
No idea how good they are.

I keep hearing how this should be their wake up call. Blowing a 26-7 lead to Philly shoulda been their wake up call. How many times do we say it should be their wake up call? I'm about to say something no one wants to hear.....

Maybe we just aren't as good as we thought.
I am having some of the same consternation.
The Rams record is excellent going back to their winning streak last year. A lot of those games were very tight, one possession games.
If you keep playing those games week after week, there are going to be some that get away.

we became the rams of old. too much Kool aide passed around, and the reality is we are not going to a Superbowl this year. we will make the wildcard though.
Could well be right, but, there is a lot of ball left to play.
OL and secondary issues could improve over time and with hopefully improving health.

Ok, So I want to point something out,

The Snapper, go watch another long snapper and let me know when you seem them fail to put out their arms to help hold the DT vs the RG/LG... That's on the LS not Avila.

You might not think an arm in there between him and Avila is going to make a difference but it does. Go watch the blocked kicks early this season, same.exact.situation.
I think by the time the snap is launched the rusher is already even or past him....cant really lay into anyone.
There is an obvious point of weakness there that needs to be fixed. One thing for sure, other teams will keep trying to exploit it until it is fixed.

Dallas head coach is the former offensive coordinator
And he opted for a "fresh start"
Its history repeating.
Rams won a SB without him because culture matters.
Well.... culture didn't seem to matter much last night.
Except the culture the 9r's brought.

Right before kyren had his long run to put the ball inside the 10... I said to the TV "hug that ball Kyren".

I forgot about that thought for a few moments because it looked like he was about to score... and then BOOM.

Shanny handed Shula his ass on Thursday.
The Whiners approach was pretty predictable but the Rams lack of adjusting is very frustrating.
I won't whine too much about the 4th and 1 call as there were multiple previous situations the Rams squandered to not be in a 4th and 1 for the game position. That said, for a guy who prides himself on learning from past mistakes, he ran to the right behind a back up O Lineman on a critical 4th and 1....very strange. Stafford was straight dealing that second half. I expected an iso or rub sort of pass play.
I loved the choice to go on 4th and 1 and try to win the game as confidence in the D stopping SF was slim to me. But, the call was a strange one.

That is 7 lost fumbles (11 total) going back two seasons.....that is highest in the league I believe.
It is just going to have to be a trade off with him it seems.

My FB feed is chock-full of Niner bullshit this evening...

You think Corum and Hunter are going to do better in pivitol runs? Corum been getting his chances and Failling 6 drives in 2 games now. Hunter being held out because Mcvay doesnt like something.

Go ahead and Pass it then! Where has that got us on pivitol downs, oh wait! 36% and near last place in the League on 3rd down conversions. Yet Kyren " Mister unreliable" leads the league in 1st downs. Thats why he has a "High" fumble rate because he rushes a lot.

What you seem to not understand is if its not in Kyrens or Puka hands we are done for. The last 3 games we are actually worse in the red zone on attempts because teams know this.

If punching someone in the head is legal, we would see it on damn near every play.

If punching someone in the head is legal, we would see it on damn near every play. It's not legal, they just got away with it.
I’ve been too busy to look it up, but what areNFL fans/Talking Heads saying about that play? The punch was obviously intentional but not sure if it was meant for the ball (and missed) or for his head (out of desperation as KW was about to score). Either way unfortunately it worked.

We also could have won every game. We are a good team, but we need to get our shit together.
Are the Eagles the best team in football, or are they a Kelce bobble on the goal line and a blocked kick away from being 2-2. The difference between not that good and contender can be very small.

Lots of criticism Shula. And I agree it looks bad. But one thing that always makes DC tactics hard to assess is, we don't know WHY they are playing the schemes they are. It is possible the Rams were giving the 49ers so much cushion because Shula had 0 trust they could stick with any offensive players otherwise. Just saying. He may have wanted to play closer and take away the middle of the field and short passes, but didn't feel he had the pieces. Particularly as, right after the loss, the Rams announced they would indeed be looking for help in the secondary. And the PFF grades for every single secondary defender - not the be all and end all, for sure - were ugly across the board. To a man. All failing grades.

Having said that, the 49ers were down their 3 best receiving options in Pearsall, Jennings, and Kittle. The Rams secondary was at full health, less Whitherspoon. If you STILL don't feel your secondary can get it done personnel wise in those circumstances, and have to play with overly soft cushions to shield them, you have a serious problem, and are not a Super Bowl roster. Not even close. How do you expect to stop Josh Allen and the Bills' passing attack, if you cannot stop Mac Jones and the 49ers 2nd team offense?

I think it was just poor game planning, as Shula has played it way more aggressively in the past, with the same unit, facing far better WR rooms. Shula has been excellent to date but that was awful.

This unit really misses Witherspoon. But I think we need 1 more good CB even when he is healthy.

This young secondary group is better than they have shown to date. If we want to go anywhere, some of the improvement is going to have to come from internal growth by the young players already in house. I think they can do it. Many of them have flashed. It's a long season.

I agree entirely. Part of being a good team is finding ways to not beat yourself, and to not piss away games you "should" win. That is the Eagles' super power. They have not been impressive in any game yet. But are undefeated.

The Atlanta Falcons "should" have won 10+ games last year. You need to find a way *to actually get the W*. If the Rams cannot do that consistently, be it due to fumbles, missed FGs, blocked FGs, whatever.... we are not a good team. I am still optimistic. This is a good roster and McVay's team are generally buttoned-up. But time will tell. They have the talent. But if you cannot play clean, button-up football, you're not a good team.

I really do think finding a way to move on from Karty and Williams are both important. You cannot have both the RB position and special teams being extremely high risk for self sabotage. Kick blocking is poor but no worse than many other teams in the NFL marching out sad lines. He needs a higher trajectory and a quicker kicking motion. His style is not a good fit for this team's blocking abilities.

I just want to thank all you folks for helping me get through this. The Rams will come back... hopefully -lol. It was a tough loss, for sure, but I'm sure it was tougher for the players and they will come back even stronger next week. Go Rams!
