I've only watched him casually so far, but I like Trinidad Chambliss. I hope he'll give up on the fight to return to college and go to the NFL. I could see him thriving in our offense, and I think McVay wants his next QB to be mobile.
He traded for Stafford because Stafford was a franchise QB and available. If another franchise QB who doesn't have great mobility comes available, I'm sure McVay will be willing to sacrifice mobility. Jimmy has proven he can execute this type of offense at a fairly high level if needed and came to us relatively cheap for a veteran backup with his track record. Those moves make perfect sense. You don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Why though? I’ve seen this posted quite a bit and what makes people think that? He traded for a guy that just ran for 1 yard on the season and his backup (that McVay chose) is Jimmy G.
I personally would like the next QB to be mobile, but I truly don’t see what people see when they say they think MCVAY wants a mobile QB.
If he is a legit 6-0", I could see taking a chance at some point. McShay thinks he could be more like 5-11". Granted Brees & Wilson had long successful careers at 5-11" / 6-0". I would just prefer a bigger guy.I'm game for either Simpson or Chambliss. Not usually a fan of shorter qbs but there's something different about Chambliss.
There is something there no doubt and the lack of talent around him, especially up front, compared to years past was noticeable (on both sides of the ball), hence why he declared IMO
Even so, he says he turned down huge offers from other college programs including Miami and Old Miss. You got to love Simpson’s reason for turning down the $ and his belief in himself becoming a pro

If you see my post above you will see that there are a lot of positives including he executed a pro style offense at an elite level before his play dipped. I would add injury concerns to your list, as he looks slight, but he would look very different after a year or two in our weight room. I don’t know whether he is a high end processor but if he interviews well with McVay and his measurements check out, he has a lot going for himOK. So Simpson turned down offers from other programs for supposed high dollars - uhuh. Why exactly was Alabama not offering? I understand Bama has a lower budget than some but I'm kind of doubting Miami is offering Simpson 6.5 and Mensah 10+++. Was Alabama moving on to their 6'5" 2nd stringer from last year and wasn't going to have a place for Ty? What exactly is the deal?
Sorry. But I'm just not impressed by him. He not only looks slight, but he appears to play slight. And personally, I don't want us to draft a lower 1st or 2nd rounder for Stafford's replacement if he doesn't have really good upside and tools that could be honed by NFL coaching as he sits behind Matthew for a year or two. I don't see Simpson as that player. He seems pretty accurate but there doesn't appear to be much zip on his passes for the most part. I'm not sure he'd get away with a lot of them in the NFL.
Of course I reserve the right to deny all of this if the Rams actually draft him.
Reading it similarly. That backup lifted the team, so I'm thinking Simpson lost his job when he stepped out of that game.OK. Keelon RussellDidn't I read Bama has a 5 star recruit that sat all year and are running with him?

Why do I think he wants mobility? Think back to when Goff was our QB and John Wolford. Think of the QB he drafted (Stetson Bennett). I don't believe McVay's desire has gone away. He's not married to it to such an extent he'd pass up a great QB for not being mobile, but I think he'd like to see what his offense can do with a QB who is a threat to run.
Exactly. That is why, while Simpson could have stayed, and in all likelihood won the starting job, Bama were not willing to get into a bidding war. Hence, he had a choice, take huge money to play for (likely) Miami or return with very little short term security or relative pay. He chose to honour the programme and take his shot this year despite his draft stock, while being good, no where near as high as it would be with more games under his belt even if his play plateaued, while remaining close to what he produced in the first eight game (which was on pace for the Heisman and 1st pick in the draft)Didn't I read Bama has a 5 star recruit that sat all year and are running with him?

I agree and at the same time I will laugh my ass off when Dylan Raiola beats him out for the starting job next year. Raiola in that offense is Heisman material, Dante wished he had Dylan's arm talent. Not likely to happen but it just possibly could.Best move he could make. He's not ready and another year of college ball should help.
Simpson played for an Alabama that has 57, 4 and 5 star recruits playing alongside him. He never elevated his team during the entire 2nd half of the season as I watched damn near every Bama game. No wow or it factor, just an average QB. I would hate drafting him before round 5, see Shadeur Sanders. His play early in the year against division II opponents looked great, it should have playing completely inferior teams. Of course thats just how I see it.I like Chambliss and Ty, surely interested in seeing the measurables. 6'0+ is absolutely a non negotiable for the 1st/2nd round
I like Simpson a lot more than most. Where many Bama QB's are surrounded with incredible talent, I truly believe Simpson carried that team a heck of a lot further than they deserved.
I get the purpose of the Alabama and NIL questions, but I'm wondering do they really matter? At the end of the day, what matters is how NFL teams view him.OK.
