I’ve seen it suggested that if Tennessee ends up with the number 1 pick, they might trade Ward and take Mendoza with the number 1 pick. Ward has had some real tough stretches this year but that team and coaching staff sucks. And he’s shown some flashes despite of that. Elite level arm talent. Elusive. I wonder what it would take to land him AND how he’d feel about sitting behind Stafford for a year if Stafford doesn’t retire.

I rarely watch those clowns. But the small sample I've seen he's not the guy I'd want to put my job on the line to build around. Because effectively when you talk about GMs and Coaches that is what you are doing when you take a QB up high. You're hitching your wagon to them and if shit goes south your chances of survival aren't particularly good. Even GMs get shitcanned at times, they can only blame the staff so much before they end up on that firing line.

So for me it's purely about which QB I'd rather have in place to build that program. Nothing against Ward but he's a bit too heavy on upside. And as tempting as it is to get a load of picks by selling Mendoza ask yourself how that worked out for Washington when they were wrong about RG3 being able to hold it down at QB.

Solving QB is the top priority. Getting the right dude in there to hold it down. Now all that aside if Tennessee were to use the pick for Mendoza would the Rams be interested in Ward? Because in the Rams' case they have the luxury of sticking him behind Stafford to learn. Again I haven't seen enough of him to really say, so in these conversations my opinions are driven by watching what footage I could when he came out. And it is through that lens I think he's the dude I'd move, rather than that top pick if they end up with it.

I think we ultimately trade for a QB. McVay's offense can turn a mid quarterback into a star.

Whether that is Ward I don't know.

Can't imagine that actually happens.. Ward's got more ability and a year under his belt.

I think the trade route is something that could happen... I think they could also look at some of the potential "sedond chance " guys.. as it looks like Stafford has at least one more year in him.
