I was hoping Maiava would come out. Smart call to stick around at USC though, I think they're gonna be loaded.

You have to wonder seeing how "loaded" the '27 class may be, if some kids will come out in '26 because there will be less competition
As of now the only 1st round QB is Mendoza with a bunch of other "potentials" yet to declare or not. Simpson, Moore, Mateer etc

I can never see McVay wanting to train a rookie QB when he could have a veteran option. Stafford will play at least another year I think, could be wrong, could be very wrong. Those first rounders probably used on another pass rusher, offensive weapon, maybe an OT. Snead doesn't really draft DB's with first round picks.

Take his word with a grain of salt for sure but Kiper Jr on the radio this morning said the 2nd qb drafted could be in the 4th round.

I saw a blurb that said Burrow can't as himself playing for another team in 26 but can see it happening in 27.

Good luck dealing with Bengals ownership Joe.

I can never understand this line of thinking. There’s never been an instance where the Rams HAD to develop a QB. McVay developed Goff, and Rams had a “win now” mentality with a bunch of guys nearing the end of their playing days, so he traded for Stafford.

Now, the Rams are extremely young. If ever a time to draft a QB to sit and develop, it’s now.

Just because it hasn’t happened, does not mean McVay isn’t interested in doing it.

That’s like saying McVay won’t draft a rookie receiver because he signed Adams. It’s silly.

Not in 2026.
Negative cap ramifications are excessive; and Mike Brown will not be receptive or cooperative.
Paul Brown's son is 90 years old and is the most conservative of old-school NFL owners.

I don't even know if Burrow wants out of Cincinnati at this point.

However, with one more disappointing, non-playoff season in 2026 ... Just Maybe.

That would make Four straight such seasons, and Burrow will be thirty.
If the Bengals are not successful with Burrow, and they can get significant value (three #1s) ...
Plus, the cap ramifications are less onerous.

Just Maybe ... in 2027

Burrow could force a trade if he wanted. I could see McVay getting on board with that. Maybe a completely chance meeting in Cabo?

Maybe but it would be better for all if Bengals' ownership and management saw a trade as beneficial to them, in addition to satisfying Burrow. I don't see that happening easily or quickly ... 2027? ... Maybe.

If it does play-out, there will be a number of serious suitors, and it will (almost certainly) be very costly but Cincinnati may prefer an NFC team.

We're talking about the Bengals here. Remember Palmer, they could have probably got 2 1st rounders if they traded him in the offseason after tagging him. They refused to trade him, he sat at home, then they made a deal towards the latter part of the season, getting way less in return.

Basically, they're idiots.

Is it time to change the title of this thread to either, which veteran should we trade for, or alternatively, which QB should we draft in the 2027 draft?

2026 is looking positively anaemic at QB as more and more go back to school to (re)build their reputation

It seems to me that on page 117 of this thread, draftniks want a different QB more than the Rams. There is no let up with Matthew Stafford this year and should win the MVP. The Rams are good enough to win the Super Bowl this year and most here seem to conclude that Stafford will ride off into the sunset afterwards. They said the same in 2021.

The LESS proactive teams (the "idiots") often take a longer time to figure stuff out ... if they ever do.

That's still another reason why I have been posting (for eight months now) about Joe Burrow ... Wanting .. and then, eventually ... Getting-out of Cincinnati. But NOT quickly or smoothly ... just Eventually ... like 2027.

That's kind of long (that's what she said).

How about "Rams Future at Quarterback" ... then @Loyal can introduce his Flash Gordon to the Rams theory.

The NY Jets have 3 1st round picks in 2027, if there is a world where Joe Burrow gets traded, the Rams wont be in it
But carry on!

He does have a full no trade clause i believe which gives him so.e control if he were to be traded.
Like Deshaun Watson had, and he ended up in Cleveland
A trade of a player of that magnitude will require significant capital, similar to what the Rams traded for Stafford.
The current Rams do not have anything close to that trade capital
