McVay got to a SB with Goff in their second year together
I dont see any reason why he wouldnt want a QB for the next 10-15 years instead of starting over every 3-4 years
It’s not easily done, but it’s not impossible either.

Burrows injured again. I don't know if I want him anymore.
Not likely but it is possible Cincy puts him on the market, depending on where their draft pick ends up. You just never know with stupid owners.

But yeah I'd rather have a fresh young QB that McVay covets in the draft. Then try to get things sorted with Stafford for the 2026 season and you're in great shape with the vet and the kid QB cooking on the depth chart.

I have a feeling this will be Stafford's last season with us, but he looks hungry in the first two games so if he puts up a high end season the Rams will probably be looking to make things work. Long way to go on all this but the key is adding a good young talent to the mix.

Also nothing against Bennett in that regard. But as much as I like Bennett he's probably a QB2 at this level. If he has a role going forward it would be as our backup, and if Stafford were to retire or move on then they may let him compete with a bridge option for that role. But he's unlikely to be a long term QB1 type answer. Note that I'm not ruling that out, as there are always outliers on this shit. But generally the small guys like him aren't gonna be able to hold that role down for an elite franchise.

Of course, there are always the Drew Brees outliers but how often do they come around

Gosh, I don't think I wanna take one in the first. I would prefer to take a top OL or CB and draft a 2nd rounder who missed out by a few picks...he may have that chip needed on his shoulder.

I don't watch enough college ball anymore to give any good opinions....but Arch Manning sure looks like ass. Haha

Drafting any QB, for that matter drafting any player, is a crapshoot.

But there is still a huge difference between the 1st and 2nd round. The success rate of QBs from round 1 to round 2 is ginormous.

Additionally, there's a huge difference between picks 1-15 and 16-32. And there's a huge difference between 1-5 and 6-10.

Bottom line: if the Rams need a QB you don't wait until the 2nd round.
But as of now, I see no QB worth a 1st round pick. It’s a bunch of flawed 3rd - 5th round guys.
That’s why I’m currently in the mindset of securing top guys at two of CB/WR/OT. Then get a developmental guy in 2nd round that McVay feels he can fix and work with.
Of course if a stud arises and mcvay loves him, then you go get that guy. But spending a 1st for a qb simply because you need one is an unforced error. It’s how guys like Picket, Lance, Fields, Wilson, Lynch, Rosen, Richardson, etc (you could go on & on) get picked as wasted 1st round QBs. Don’t force something that’s not there. It’s early, but right now I don’t see a guy worth it….yet.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind LaNorris Sellers if we had to pick a quarterback in the first round. You cannot teach his talent, his skillset, and I think it's exactly the kind that McVay would look for. Remember that Mahomes was drafted #10 overall, that he wasn't even considered the second-best quarterback in his class (Mitchell Trubisky and Deshaun Watson were fighting for that honor, with Mahomes thought of as a raw "afterthought". It was considered a shock that the Chiefs traded up to get him.

Why can't the same thing - on a lesser scale, of course; nobody's saying he'll be better than Mahomes - happen with Sellers? Why not trade up with our two first round picks and take Sellers when Nussmeier, Klubnik, and possibly Mateer go in the first round ahead of him?

You know who ever they take, his mental processing power will be a huge part of the eval. McVay won't fall in love with physical traits only.

So whoever they draft, if they like a guy enough to take a guy in rd 1 or even trade up higher for a QB in rd 1, that kid will have to love football and have a high understanding of playing the position. So of if it's Nussmeier, Allar, Sellers, Klubnik, or whoever, he is going to have to be a near perfect fit for McVay to burn a first rd pick on him. Otherwise they may prefer a vet.

I will get roasted for this, but I wouldn't have minded Mac Jones being brought in here. Still young, but experienced, and in a good system probably could develop into a good QB.

If it’s not some crazy f them picks trade,

It’ll be either Sellers on potential
Mateer because he seems like a McVay kind of guy
Mendoza because of intangibles.

I don’t see them trading up for a QB at this point in the season. None of the top options have truly showed enough

I’m a big NO on Lawrence.

I think he is what he is at this point.
After seeing him throw yet ANOTHER interception in the end zone…
When he first came out, I thought he would be good. He just needed to work on the turnovers, especially in the end zone. I chalked it up to being a rookie/young QB. Several seasons later and he’s still doing it too often. Those are points he’s giving away.

Nah, you’re right. He is who he is at this point.

What if Jake Browning comes in and leads the Bungles to the playoffs?? He has looked good with his opportunities thus far. That could lead to a couple of interesting scenarios.
