Little trivia for some of you disrespectful young bastards.

The 1980 USC Trojans Defensive Backfield featured four future NFL players, including three first round picks ...
Ronnie Lott, Dennis Smith and Joey Browner ... who combined to play in 22 Pro Bowls.

The 4th USC starter in that backfield was Jeff Fisher.

It would be like the Rams to sign some mid ass corner in FA and then ignore the position in the draft.

But yeah here's hoping they are about to overhaul this corner room. So FA and draft should be used for it.

He didn't play for USC but Kenny Easley was the 4th pick that year out of UCLA. What a draft class of the secondary.

If we were to sign a CB, which I have trouble imagining considering how many of our own players we should re-up (and pay big second contracts), it would more likely be:

1. A trade for a player under contract from another team, who they believe was in the wrong system but would thrive in ours

2. A vet FA after the draft, when teams cut down based on their draft picks

3. A player who they liked when drafted, but who is yet to ascend, and whose second contract would be a steal if they do break out

4. They seem to have moved away from this but trade a high pick(s) for one of the best in the league

That is what we have done across all positions, for as long as I can remember, in that order. IMO they will prioritise the draft with an eye on vets who fit the above profiles, but not a big money signing. There are some great CB prospects in a deep draft

I wonder how much cap space they'll really have to spend.

Stafford after an MVP season is probably going to want a significant raise.
Puka should probably be one of if not the highest paid WRs in the league this offseason.
And they may even get deals done with Kobie Turner, Byron Young, Steve Avila, & Walter McClendon.

A check of that draft shows 7 HOFers.

Lawrence Taylor, Easley, Lott, Mike Singletary, Howie Long, Rickey Jackson (those last 3 in the 2nd round) and Russ Grimm (3rd). Wow!

The #1 pick, George Rogers set the record for most rushing yards by a rookie (1674)....which lasted all of 2 years.

Don't forget! That was also the Draft where the Rams selected the future Golden Bachelor ... Mel Owens!!!

Lake plays slot CB, Forbes is under contract, Wallace is under contract and I have a feeling we re-sign Durant. Technically Darious is under contract next year as well, though he seems like a prime cut candidate.

I suspect we will be drafting two CBs and if anything, bargain shop in the FA market
