Or RB or QB of the future or WR or…. A TE won’t automatically be an improvement over Higbeast and Allen either. You could argue that a RB or WR would actually improve the offense more than another TE. I’m not sure why you’re sure that a TE is going to be a weapon and a RB or WR is not - especially when both those positions typically have a more immediate impact than TE. A TE may indeed be an improvement over Allen. History would not indicate that would happen right away. Indications are also that you are way more enamored than most with Warren. He’s certainly no lock.
I didn’t even mention Warren. Maybe it’s Loveland. He is more of a big slot. But you are wrong. Most are way more enamored with Warren. He’s the consensus highest rated TE in the draft.
I felt a TE may have the biggest impact, because Nacua and Adams will get the lions share of the targets at receiver. Higbee has one more year on his contract, and there have been some tight ends that produced in their first year. Lately that is more of the trend with these guys picked in the top three rounds. The position has definitely evolved in college and they are putting more pro ready tight ends in the league.
I think this board, in general, seriously underrates Kyren Williams at RB. I don’t think the Rams do. As much as I’d like another Gurley, the tea leaves don’t indicate that the Rams are likely to be taking a RB in round one.
I’m aware of the need for a young QB and the shortage of the position in the league forces teams to pick them earlier than than they’d prefer to. The 26th pick could be a QB if the Rams like one bad enough, but it will more than likely be an overdraft and offer nothing to the team in the short run. They’ve already got a good backup that has played in some big games. I’d rather they take a player that could help this year if the need should arise. Plus, I’m not a big believer in any of these QBsin this years draft.
