That podcast is shite.
I take them all with a grain of salt but at least they’re talking about the Rams unlike local LA sports radio where all you here is Labron, Labron, Labron, Kobe, Labron, Labron, Jeanie Buss, Labron, Labron, Labron, James Harden, Labron, Labron, Labron, AD (wrong one) Labron, Labron, Kawhi, Labron, Labron, Labron.…

Jeebus, forget about Wentz, I'm more concerned with the ridiculous contracts this team throws around. I love what Stafford did for us in 2021, but how on earth is it responsible bookkeeping to be paying him so much 3 and 4 years later?

I'm obviously not a capologist, but the Rams certainly pay a lot to players after the fact. Seems AD is the only one that continues to be worth his $$$. Yikes.

His contract is quite reasonable. Better than most other qbs. The Rams thought he would play at the same level he did in the 21 season.

Little did they know he would mainly play at November month of 21 season levels. Can't blame the team. They thought they were running it back but ended up running it into the ground.

So we massively upgrade the 2nd QB position on the team and people are still bitching about it? Amazing.

I have RARELY criticized McVay and Snead because I can usually squint and see logic for personnel decisions.

I can squint hard and see that, in August, our season is fucked if Stafford goes down for a few games.

But then Puka decided to be a top ten NFL WR and our defense has mostly outperformed expectations.

Once those two things happened, I mean.....with a competent backup, we can beat half the teams on this schedule. With a competent backup I think we beat Green Bay and are 4-5.

In some ways, making this move now is almost worse because it's like they're agreeing with the point I'm making, but only after a potentially season crippling loss.

Yeah I don't know what would have happened with Wentz in there vs Green Bay. No way to know. But it is painful to lose such a key game due to lack of quality in that QB2 spot. We're gonna need to go 5-3 most likely to have a chance for the playoffs (and that's bare minimum). So every loss brings less room for error.

No way we go 5-3 even vs a weak schedule without Stafford. We're gonna need him. So if Wentz needs to play let's say a couple games having a QB2 who can deliver a win in one of those games at least is a big help.

That's fair, but there wasn't much in his career to suggest that he would continue to play at that level. I really Liked him coming out of GA, and was bitter that we missed him by a year or two.

I watched all I could of him when he was in Detroit, and he gradually became exactly what I see him to be today. Super talented arm that can do wonders if you give him time and talent. We had a similar, if not as arm talented version of that, but he wasn't quite that dog. Trade was worth it.

Stafford did what the Rams brought him here to do and I will always love him for it. I just don't see him necessarily being the guy that can lead a far less talented roster any further than mid pack. His talent and commitment aren't the question, it's the value for a clearly rebuilding team. Not his fault regardless.

He's a Ram now, so I'm going to support him in whatever role he gets - bench, scout team, whatever.

. . . unless things get nutty.

Opinion: What did you think would happen, Carson Wentz? You're too special to get the vaccine?
