Many good points on the subject.

I can see how maybe a domino effect can occur with injuries. I would imagine a team would like to have a couple versatile backups to plug any holes while the best are recovering or the versatile backups become that years replacement.

You start second tier pros against first tier pros maybe then you are bound to get more injuries just on physics alone.

I am still not going to let all off the hook here. Our opening day O-line may have not been in a position to take what it needed to begin with.

And that can be fixed. Thank god.

I will add in the presser that McVay blamed the player hitting him as a lack of awareness on the player.

McVay moved into the players path. Whose awareness should be in question? I would say most of us would find that a weird event on any level.

I have been a huge McVay fan but see some big cracks.

I will give him a big chance. Blaming a player for his own actions?

It quickly became a short leash.
Oh please....the player was looking forward... seeing whats ahead of him. You can run around someone who may be walking into your path...I mean players do that in a game.

Possible Reasons

1) Conditioning and Strength Coaches not up to par (I believe we did lose an important strength and conditioning coach last year)
2) Turf at SOFI needs to be replaced after a few years wear and tear
3) Players selected in the drafts have a history of being injured (I haven't checked that statement - just throwing it out there)
4) Just unlucky

Or all of the above in some way contribute to it
So a player getting rolled up on in a game is on a coach, really?

Remainder of season is scouting what we have on the roster. No more. No less. Great time to evaluate.

True but it's difficult to evaluate the young talent at the skill positions when the OL is 3rd and 4th stringers; and the QBs are 2nd and 3rd string. I agree about playing the young defensive players, especially DBs (Durant, Rochell, Yeast and Lake) because there are four veteran DBs (Hill, Long, Rapp and possibly, Scott) that may sign elsewhere in the off-season.

The player wasn't paying attention to what he was doing because he was putting his helmet on at the same time

I saw it as just an unfortunate timing event. McVay said in the briefing that the player needed to have more awareness.

McVay moves around more than the average HC. So much so they have a clip of him and his "handler" during a game watching out after him.

Just didn't like him outing his guy as if he didn't have any responsibility himself. Maybe I mis-understood him in the brief.

When you look at the clip you can why the player couldn't see McVay.

I am not blaming either one really. The player was adjusting his helmet and didn't see him. Also probably geeked up a bit...but can't blame McVay for it unless people think coaches are not allowed to pace the sideline.
