Having to use silent count is really fucking annoying too. Thought maybe winning a Super Bowl would make the crowds better but I guess not.

Bills fans had Rams on silent count, which Sean McVay admits was a factor

Knowing that, it really shouldn’t have surprised anyone that the Bills Mafia packed SoFi Stadium for the first game of the 2022 season on Thursday night. Bills fans always travel well, but they weren’t going to miss the chance to see their team face the defending Super Bowl champions in the opener.
They were loud, too. It was to the point that the Rams needed to use a silent count on offense, being unable to verbally communicate at the line. Matthew Stafford said the team prepared for it, saying the crowd noise didn’t have an impact on the Rams.

“No, we prepared for it,” he said. “We were prepared to be on the silent count at home again, but it wasn’t something that we haven’t done before.”
His coach, Sean McVay, seems to disagree. After the game, McVay was asked about the Bills’ constant pressure applied on Stafford, regularly beating the Rams’ pass protection to the tune of 15 QB hits and seven sacks.
McVay blamed himself for his play calling and situational awareness, but he also mentioned the fact that the Bills were able to jump the snap when the Rams were on a silent count.
“I think it’s a combination of a lot of things,” McVay said of whether the sacks were on the line or Stafford holding the ball. “I think first and foremost, I look at myself inwardly, ‘Did you give yourself a chance to settle into a rhythm or were they able to tee off?’ There were some instances where we’re on our silent count, they did a good job being able to jump the count. Bottom line is we’ve all got to be a little bit better.”
Even with all the pressure the Bills applied, they did so without blitzing a single time all night. That’s perhaps the most impressive part of the way they played on defense. McVay once again brought up the silent count, though not to use it as an excuse.
“Oh yeah, they didn’t rush five really at all tonight,” McVay said. “For them to be able to do that it’s a real credit to them. We’re on our silent count. Whatever I’m going to say right now is going to be an excuse. I think I put our guys in too many of those tough situations. Credit to Von (Miller) and their rush. They did an outstanding job. They’re an excellent defense, but we’ve got to be better and it starts with me.”
Stafford might feel like it didn’t hurt the Rams offense, but Bills fans were loud when Los Angeles had the ball. It should be the other way around, with Rams fans making life tough for the opposing offense, but they just don’t have much of a home-field advantage when fanbases like Buffalo’s come to town.
If you lived in Buffalo you'd leave every chance you got also.

Im tired of this narrative. LA is a destination with the best stadium in the country. Other teams fans make a vacation out of it. Thats the way it is. Who in there right mind wants to go to Foxboro or Buffalo....trust me if there was market for their fans to unload tix....they would. There is no market b/c why would anyone want to go there....

A legitimate, quality Rams' fan would NOT have 'unloaded' their ticket to last night's game.

For the first time in the Rams' Los Angeles history, they were hanging a Championship banner.

There are some great Rams' fans in Los Angeles ... Just not enough of them.

No penetration at the LOS in the running game and the interior OL getting blown up on passes meant that the Offense never got in Sync. I’m sure that was a rough but timely wake-up call!

If that's the case, I truly do apologize.

Thought you were defending Rams ticket holders who sold their seats last night on a secondary-market.

As a 50-plus-year die-hard Rams' fan, I find it embarrassing that the Rams have to use a silent count at home.

Us old-timers do miss things but that's no excuse.

Yeah Robinson was WIDE open more than a few times.

Last night May have been holding back the playbook to the team we will be facing in the SB. (Blue Font)

but is it blue font though?

it would certainly explain aker's usage because that didn't make a lick of sense.

the pass plays certainly weren't what we expect from mcvay. just seemed like there was no creativity out there.

i'm clinging onto that thought.

The OL looks awful. Now consider how common injuries are in the trenches. And imagine if Noteboom - who is injury prone - gets hurt for any extended period of time. :explode1: Hopefully, things will improve. This unit has a bunch of new starters, and had not played a meaningful snap together before tonight, as McVay rests starters in pre-season (I think wisely, despite tonight's trouncing, which McVay's opening night records speaks to). But if things do not improve, the season might well be over before it starts for the 2022-23 Rams. No running lanes. No time to throw. And the Bills never even had to stack the box or rush more than 4 to do it.
And right on cue, Noteboom is questionable for next week, and Allen will miss significant time. We have already lost Bruss for the season. Buckle up. At this point, I am worried for Stafford's ability to stay healthy.

Woof. Injury added to insult today.

McVay’s coaching is going to be put to the test.

Notebloom is not the guy. Not going to repeat with a guy like that as a starting LT.

He's a backup who can barely stay healthy enough to come in when the true starter goes down. I don't even think the Rams have a true starter level guy anywhere on the OL TBH. So bummed about it.

If I KNEW we were going to run on every single first down, then the Bills must have been ecstatic about it. I mean, first down, run up the middle. No gain, or short gain. Have to become more creative than that.
Been a problem since last year

Yeah.. McVay's the play caller.

That being said... whatever work was done in coming up with a game plan failed, big, big time.

it is really hard to play call with no offensive line. it was mentioned before but i think we need a good fb after all a fb can lead block or stay in the back field and help with pass protection and every once in a while, slip out on a pass route. i don't remember Henderson helping pass block one time. also, we need some receivers to step up and help Cupp or he will start getting double and triple teamed

Why do you believe Coen called the plays?

I’m sure he had input but you’re the second poster who has identified Liam Coen as the primary play-caller.

Maybe I missed something. Would not be the first time … today … just think of McVay as the primary offensive play-caller.
yeah - it is probably McVay.
Either way - there is some tunnel vision going on there, not to mention the accountability thing...
But, I mentioned it anyway! :laugh4:

Alright gang, I am closing this thread with the 20hr rule. We are the Superbowl Champs… the season is a journey and the SB Champs get that. So 20hrs it is for the SB Champs. The
pussy
teams need 24hrs.

ON to week 2!

The NFL is back. Our Rams are back!

Woooo!
