Verse wasn’t supposed to fall that far. If the same scenario occurs with a CB, he’ll start.
I think he went in the range that was expected. It was just a very deep draft for star players because there were so many good players at three premium positions in the draft. QBs, LTs, and Edges. In this years draft Verse would be a top ten pick.

I agree with @fanotodd though. I don’t think they start this years first round pick right away if it’s on defense. . It took a long time for the defense to gel last year. Any defensive rookie is probably starting as a rotational player

If I had to guess right now, they probably end up sticking and picking at 26 and take a CB.

I saw Trey Amos was recently mocked to them in one of the NFL Network guy's mocks. That makes sense to me. He is a bigger CB and could be the #1 CB in our secondary rather quickly. And they need a legit top young CB.

I would prefer a bolder move to get our QB of the future, but that just might not be in cards this year.

Amos looks like a second round value to me. He’s 6’-1” but he’s not what I’d call long.

Well, the Rams did a bit last year. They even went so far as to make fake calls to other teams about moving up for an OLT right before the draft.
Did they make calls for OLT? Or were the rumors that they were looking? And if they did, are we sure they were fake?

I thought the following was a Great example of how much God Awful draft coverage is out there.

Athlon Sports (they have been around a long time) has an article about the Rams trading out of Round One, with the Browns. A legit draft topic; and the topic of this very thread.

The author (Brendan Howe) references Bruce Feldman of the Athletic who predicts CB Azareye'h Thomas of Florida State as the Rams' pick at the top of Round Two. A legit prediction. The author then offers Feldman's reasons for Thomas as the pick.

And the #1 Reason is that Thomas' Defensive Coordinator at Florida State (Adam Fuller) is Sean McVay's 'new Safeties coach of the Los Angeles Rams.'

I have to admit, this both surprised and confused me as I try to keep-up on any changes to the Rams' Coaching Staff. So I Googled Adam Fuller football. And, he is ABSOLUTELY the new Safeties coach in L.A.

FOR THE LOS ANGELES CHARGERS!

That's not one but two individuals making a living discussing the NFL and the Draft, who were BOTH too Lazy and too Stupid to Google a guy's name.

When reading this shit, you have to take note of the author and source because much of it is GOD AWFUL.

Seems like many of the guys mocked at 26 are guys that could be drafted anywhere between 26 and 40... especially at our need positions.

If they strictly go BPA, then they may end up with a DL, RB, WR, or a OT who drops.

Other teams claimed the Rams were making calls about moving up for a Left tackle. After the draft there was no mention of the Rams looking at OLTs. The only names I ever saw mentioned were Bowers, Byron Murphy and Jared Verse. If they really were desperate for an OLT then there were still a few left on the board.

We really need a SMH response icon. I wouldn’t be doing that towards you, of course. It would be at those lazy reporters who are just another example of what passes for effort these days.

Like Tom Landry once said after having to put on a bulletproof vest before returning to the sidelines, “…football is a microcosm of society.”

IMO, there's too much of 'I read this' or 'I heard that' on threads related to the Draft.

Some material is from reputable, reliable, experienced sources ... still, not necessarily accurate.
However, other material is just thrown out there by people with no substantive credentials what-so-ever.

Is it possible they wanted Alt, Fashanu, Latham, one of the top guys and only them?

That’s why it’s good to figure out who has some of the best annalysis and not waste time on others.

Some sources are very knowledgeable.

Shortcuts make sense, unless of course a person has all the time to watch 300+ players film and analyze each one on their own. Then attend the combine, talk to team reps and visit pro days.

Personally I like Nate Tice and Dane Brugler. But I don’t try to analyze or advocate for a lot of players outside of round one. I try to think of what the Rams may want and see who fits. Even then it’s futile. But it doesn’t mean it’s not fun to make an educated guess.

Right you are (again). Sometimes even the professionals get bored and drive these “I heard” or “I read” simply because they throw out some random thought ON AIR which eventually gets repeated and might just end up here.

Case in point:
I was watching a clip of a reputable show in which they were discussing Shadeur Sanders for the umpteenth day in a row. This conversation takes place after the g-men have now signed 2 QBs.
Assuming the titans grab Ward at #1, maybe the browns don’t want Sanders. The g-men are set. So are the cheatriots, raiders, and jags. You can see where this is going. They surmise the possibility of Sanders going into free fall. There are really only a couple of teams left that might be interested in a QB between the aforementioned and …the RAMS!

Let that sink in. The Rams drafting Sanders at #26 because neither the browns nor the g-men or anybody else for that matter drafts him. That doesn’t seem very possible, but the seed has now been planted for the Rams to grab Sanders…in a trade up?

See how out of hand this could become? That’s exactly why I didn’t want to post this “information” at the time I saw it because this forum would have blown up at the idea of the Rams trading up for Shadeur Sanders.

Wow! All because some pundit just threw out this minute possibility in which he could see a scenario where the Rams would have a shot at Sanders.

I hope I didn’t start something.

Don't worry, this boards not ready to even entertain the idea that we could trade up for Sanders.

I suggested that 2 weeks ago here and it got a bad reception. LOL.

I would take an early 4th and early 5th and give back a later 6th. To me that would be fair to trade out of day 1 even of it's for pick 33. I would make a point in getting a 5th thrown in on any trade down. Need to fill that gap.

In fact you could then package that early 4th with pick 90 to get an earlier 3rd if there is a guy there that they like at a thin position. That would close a gap there between pick 33 & 90.

The Bears 39 & 70
26 & 121! could work as well.
