Well thats would be only if we can resign him so both future type things. Honestly would just love to get one of these guys......I'd be ok with Quinn but not that money and I'm not sure how good he is at containing sealing the edges etc

I don't think anyone should overreact to Robinson going to the Jets.
I mean.. is he actually better than Henderson, right now? Can he pass protect? He's got one catch.

I've watched him play this year and no, he hasn't looked better than Henderson outside of one game. Really, he looked closer to Akers for the last few. Lots of carries, not much production.

He is a capable pass blocker, but Etienne has been much more productive as both a runner and receiver. Robinson has nine receptions, but he is only averaging about 5 yards per reception.

I'm not interested in Quinn myself, pretty much for the same reasons as Hunt, ... his cost, salary & future CAP hit, his age doesn't help either. jmo.

So those teams with good offenses, O lines and QBs, only need to be pressured in order to be defeated? That's what we need most? How's that been working for the rest of the league?

To be perfectly honest we shouldn't waste any draft capital on an edge rusher. Our bread & butter, calling card and identity under McVay has been our offense. We had a terrific D in 2018. How'd that turn out?

The way you beat the Kansas City's and Buffalo's is outscore them. I realize that's going to be tough to accomplish unless we have a distinct turnaround of O line play but don't fool yourself into thinking an edge rusher pressuring Mahomes or Allen is going to win the game.

Yep, with solid OLs and their ability to get rid of the ball quickly, that edge doesn't help much.

Would be great to improve the edge pass rush, but I would argue our interior pass rush relies on one player and that can't continue. A better interior rush helps the edge guys as well as QBs can't step up in the pocket.

Again, improve the run game one way or another, and your defense improves as well by keeping those high powered offenses on the bench.

So unless Burns can double as a run blocker or RB, not sure he helps the overall prospects of the team that much this year. Not to mention losing more draft capital that will continue this cycle of having a team that is increasingly dealing with holes in their roster.

The Rams didn't beat the Niners in the NFCG because of their edge pass rush. They beat them because they shut down their ground game. Something they have failed to do previously.

Doesn't help that Jimmy G. gets rid of the ball quickly on those quick slants & dump offs that defeat a pass rush.

So not sure the edge is the end all be all they need to win the division. Improve the running attack and it fixes a lot of this team's ills.

To beat the Niners and Seahawks you need to stop the run first then protect your own QB and control the ball with your offense.

Can Robert Quinn help with any of those items on that list of priorities?

The hope here is the offense gets to functional with health on the line.

With a full compliment of receivers and a healthier line, I'm fairly confident they'll be able to score more.

But the Rams won a Super Bowl with almost no run game.. so I'm not as worried about that. they did have a hell of a pass rush.

The defense on the other hands is ranked highly but pressure sacks wise are horrific and there are no injuries they just are what they are so yes adding an edge like Chubb or Sweat or someone not even on our radar can help.

Let alone if the offense does not prove pressures sacks lead to ints strip sack fumbles etc. Giving anemic offense more possessions and maybe giving the team a shot to at least win ugly. Since we do have a very good kicker.

That SB was an anomaly in that regard. They were very fortunate to not have to play the Chiefs or Bills. With Cincinnati's porous OL that offset the lack of ground game of the Rams and kept them from controlling the ball on the Rams. Even with that, the Rams needed a miraculous drive and a couple DPIs to get it done.

Loved it, but it reminds me of 99' where after the SB win, Vermeil said the Rams offense had to get more physical.

Same issue you see now. We have a donut team. Like a 3pt shooting basketball team that can't score inside or rebound. Can't rely on the finesse passing game only. And that is why they match up so poorly with a bully type team like SF who is just more physical.

Now maybe your right. Maybe Brian Allen will be the difference. I am not sure about that. The line was healthy week one...didn't look so hot. Or for that matter in the playoffs last yr as you pointed out.

I just think you need a RB that can help a struggling line. A bigger back that can create some of his own holes abd break some tackles. Or a back with better vision who doesn't miss the holes... That would be nice. Could make a world of difference for an OL and QB if they got some balance. Then again that doesn't seem to fit the mold of a McVay RB. Outside of 2018 & CJ Anderson, he has not gone down that path of using a big back type (not counting Gurley since he was just a freak).

Anyway we shall find out in a few days or so.

Chiefs and bills had lesser run defenses though. So we could say they would've been better matchups for our offense.

And on the offensive line: week one was their first week of contact. And they had to play the bills. Yikes. Not a team you wanna shake the rust off against ya know?
