Kinda what I thought.

Lots of "Is Snead sleeping" type reaction.. I'm just not sure what they think the Rams are missing out on.
Well they already missed out on CMC. And there are other players available better than what they have. They may still make a move but I'm not counting on it.

Chiefs and bills had lesser run defenses though. So we could say they would've been better matchups for our offense.

And on the offensive line: week one was their first week of contact. And they had to play the bills. Yikes. Not a team you wanna shake the rust off against ya know?
Was week one for the Bills as well.

I guess I am also being a realist. I just don't have a feel this is our year and I don't want burn a bunch of picks for a band aid or rental or a player who might be overhyped and overpaid due to the desperation they may feel right now.

I don't want to wake up to a depleted roster in 2025 with a coach retiring and front office and team in a complete rebuild. Been there, done that. Not fun.

Make a few small smart moves to improve the team. To keep Stafford from getting killed and aging even more so this year physically.

That makes sense. Enough to get you to the playoffs and then who knows, but don't blow a bunch of your future building blocks on this season.

Problem is our window is small with AD here so that's why our front office would not surprise me if they swing hard and land a player that can help immediately.

McVay is the window. Once he leaves it's going to be rebuild time because he masks a lot of weaknesses.

As great as he is, you can continue to win without him as you replace his huge cap hit with multiple good players.

I agree it's about McVay. And he is more likely to leave if we mortgage the future to the point of then having to deal with a barren roster in 2025 or 26.

An interesting stat to know would be
  1. how far has a team gone in the playoffs that have given up more sacks than they totaled in a season?
  2. how far has a team gone that has rushed for fewer yards than they have given up on the season?

That SB was an anomaly in that regard. They were very fortunate to not have to play the Chiefs or Bills. With Cincinnati's porous OL that offset the lack of ground game of the Rams and kept them from controlling the ball on the Rams. Even with that, the Rams needed a miraculous drive and a couple DPIs to get it done.

Loved it, but it reminds me of 99' where after the SB win, Vermeil said the Rams offense had to get more physical.

Same issue you see now. We have a donut team. Like a 3pt shooting basketball team that can't score inside or rebound. Can't rely on the finesse passing game only. And that is why they match up so poorly with a bully type team like SF who is just more physical.

Now maybe your right. Maybe Brian Allen will be the difference. I am not sure about that. The line was healthy week one...didn't look so hot. Or for that matter in the playoffs last yr as you pointed out.

I just think you need a RB that can help a struggling line. A bigger back that can create some of his own holes abd break some tackles. Or a back with better vision who doesn't miss the holes... That would be nice. Could make a world of difference for an OL and QB if they got some balance. Then again that doesn't seem to fit the mold of a McVay RB. Outside of 2018 & CJ Anderson, he has not gone down that path of using a big back type (not counting Gurley since he was just a freak).

Anyway we shall find out in a few days or so.
All valid stuff... but..
if Odell isn't hurt, it's a romp.

I want the Rams to be tougher, for sure. And they must improve in the run game. I just think scheme and health will get them to competent there.

There's no scenario I see where the current pass rush gets to competent.

I'd say there's probably a ceiling on this season.. but, make it to the playoffs, and who knows?

You hit on my personal frustration with this team. It can't get the tough yards when it has to. Many have told me that it just isn't what a McVay running game is about. However, when asked what a good running game is, in his latest press conference, he mentioned being able to get the tough yards and control the game (paraphrasing). Oddly enough he continues to go away from bigger backs who can fall forward and instead likes lighter backs with more wiggle, that tend not to be able to get the tough yards after contact.

Yeah that comment doesn’t really stack up with how he and Snead have developed the team. Head scratcher.

Then you are also saying that Donald and Stafford are the "Window" because McVay will not endure as HC without them.

McVay got to a Super Bowl without Stafford.

Donald on the other hand…

It would be hard to lose the greatest defensive player of all time

Maybe they can pry Quinn Meinerz from the Broncos? I know, I would be shocked and have no GOOD reason to think that could happen but just to create a rumor with no facts there is this tweet and the next one from Broncos snubbing Wilson after a loss... person who goes out of his way the most to not interact with Wilson is Meinerz. Maybe he wants out. Let me fantasize about this for a little bit even though it's a pipe dream.
