I don't consider it "hysterical" to take a clear-eyed look at the team you root for, and prefer to think long term. If the absolute best case scenario, realistically, is 5-6 wins, why NOT consider "blowing it up" and trading aging assets for future picks to help the inevitable rebuild? I mean, just 2 more losses puts you at 3-13, with a chance to add a legit game-changing qb, who also comes with a 5 year rookie deal? How is this a bad plan?

Because we're fans, not the GM. Who can even be bothered thinking about moves the team should make? I mean, what's the point of doing that? What does it achieve?

Doesn’t that apply to every team?

IF Mahomes stays healthy.. IF Andy Reid isn’t eaten by a starving polar bear.. etc
All kidding aside... some teams have a lot more "ifs" than others. This 2023 Rams team has a TON of them.

One team I remember with very few "ifs" was the 2018 Rams team. What a great off-season that was. We were LOADED heading into that year, and our success was fully expected.

Only thing is, we've already "blown up" about everything worth blowing up. Rams let a LOT of talent go this off-season.

We're left with 3 aging superstars who are close to untradeable. MS can't be traded until 2025 at the earliest... before then, he'd incur a crazy dead cap hit, around 80 or 90 million. AD would incur a huge hit as well (33M I think), and not sure how much we'd get for a one year rental anyway. As for CK, I think the dead cap penalty for trading him would be astronomical as well.

I'd happily defer to a ROD cap guru on this, but I think that based on dead money alone, it's extremely unlikely that AD and MS and CK are elsewhere in 2024.

You know what? Why don't we just wait and see how they play against a quality opponent before people get hysterical? Offensively there is only one if and what if the OL plays well? IMO the offense will rock this year.

On defense the only question is how Morris is going to play the defense. If they continue his frightened uber soft style this will be a long fruitless defense and the players will get the blame for their DC playing scared. Morris is all bluster and no guts.

On defense it's not so much the players but how they are played. On offense its how long will it take for the OL to gel as a unit. I don't get where this hysteria is coming from when the team hasn't even played a game. Sorry, but these hysterical threads at this point annoy me.

Yeah - sure - The True Taheem HATER!! Good post though & your positive on offense.

I think you’ll be surprised.

Just an opinion based on an honest and objective analysis.
Honesty of what ??

I guess we’ll know more about the Truth in a couple hours.

What I know is an opinion with my own eyes over years of watching football. 7 seasons of training camp & the HC saying this is one of The Best training camps he has had.

Is Sean Mcvay telling the truth ?
Truth is The NFC with Hags & SF
Makes The NFC the toughest division in the NFL

With the brutal first half schedule, and Kupp possibly missing 4 games, and having the youngest team in the league…it’s not hard to see this team starting 1-5 or 2-6, and ultimately deciding to completely blow it up and start fresh. Stafford getting dealt before the 10/31 deadline feels like a very real possibility. Ben Solak mentioned this on his pod today and now that the Kupp news is official it doesn’t seem far fetched at all.

Only way this doesn’t happen is if some of the rookies pop and we start the season 4-2, 3-3, or something. But if we are 1-5, I cannot see them sending Stafford and Kupp out there every week on their way to a 5-12 finish. Especially if Stafford looks as good as all the training camp reports have suggested. If he is healthy, teams will want him and the Rams would be stupid not to get something for him.
Tell us all about it.... :)
