So, I've been a life long fan. My dad got 5 season tickets in 1980 when the Rams showed up in Anaheim. Those 5 tickets cost about $800...for the whole season!

I went to the NFC championship game last week. Had to fly out, etc. as I moved to the Phoenix area back in 2013. My wife and one of my kids went; so three of us. That trip cost $6k with airfare, etc. I felt it was worth it.

Now, pricing the super bowl, for 5 view tickets is still hitting in the neighborhood of $23k.

I just can't do that. $23k is just a ton of money. That's after tax money too. So, in essence you have to earn $30k (30% tax bracket) to buy these tickets. Throw in another $2.5k for travel, food, drinks. Again, I can't bring myself to do it.

If the cost for 5 tickets and travel was around $12k-$15k, I would yolo (You Only Live Once) and go for it.

I decided to settle on a fun day at a local bar and rent out this cabana for $400 minimum food/drink +20%, and watch on the screen. I hate this choice now, but will be happy with it the day after on Monday, or at least my bank account will be!

Go Rams!

There was a nosebleed seat in the 500 section for $2,500 about 3 hours ago on Stubhub. Gone now. Man, I should have pulled the trigger. Prices back up in the $3,600+ range now.
Also, I love you Eric Dickerson, but, please buy your own ticket in the $10,000 section if you want a better seat and don't shit on the Rams organization publicly for giving you seats in the 400 section. Be part of the solution not part of the problem. Or, maybe call Jeff Fisher and go watch the game at his house with him.

Honest to God, that one is probably worth more than my truck! LOL
Likely more than mine too as it's a collectors item and probably sitting in a auto museum somewhere.

Totally unscientific observation - Last week, my Twitter feed was filled with Rams fans (rightfully) complaining about the cost to go to the game. This week, I am seeing a ton of Rams fans that have managed to get tickets. Some won them in the second season ticket lottery, and others purchased them on secondary markets when prices dropped. I get the feeling that we will have an sizeable and authentic fan presence at the game, not just celebrities.

I dont have FU money at all.

I do ok but certainly not rich. I live very modestly but IM not missing this!! To each his own thogth I respect everyone's way of how they spend their hard earned cash. But someone driving a 45K car living in a 400K house can certainly afford it, they choose not to...which is fine....

Go Rams
400K house, that's fucking funny from my neck of the woods I live. I SMH at those house prices lol...Just saying is all

45k? Have you priced cars lately? My Passat is 45k. Not exactly some rich guy car. And 400k for a house? Shit. Here in Reno, the median price for a house is 625k. Good luck getting much of anything in the 400k range unless you want to commute 40 miles each way.
Commute from Winnemucca?

2003 Hyundai Tuscon with 265,000 miles. 1996 Tiogoa RV with 144,000m. Taking both (towing tuscon) to Jackson Hole for white water rafting and then on to Banf in Canada. Fly fishing every where along the way.

Rams win SB.

Life is good.

Be sure to take the short side trip to Lake Louise, ... my stay at Deer Lodge was outstanding.

All depends what other bills you have and your job security etc..

Heck, I have my daughter's wedding coming up that will cost me a pretty penny. Just put two kids through college, in which I helped them a lot with.
I would love to go, but air fare, tickets, hotel etc... Just not in the budget right now. Maybe in a few yrs if they can get there again.

Heck, my son and I would just like to get there for a big reg season game in a few yrs. That's the goal right now. Maybe a weekend, catch a USC game, or Dodgers game in the Fall, etc...

Same, except I'm retired and daughter scrapped her wedding plans and they did a Justice of the Peace at the courthouse as SIL's father is very ill and they weren't sure he'd make it... plus, I dunno if anyone else has tried this, but trying to plan a wedding in 2021 was a freaking NIGHTMARE!!!

Also, yeah... getting to see a Dodger game on a Saturday and then a Rams game on Sunday???

That sounds like something I want to add to the bucket list... And, of course!!! I'll have to have my Expo '73 omelette from Uncle Bill's Pancake House in Manhattan Beach (I truly LOVE that place).

But yeah... I'd be planning a west coast trip if the wife and I were already RVing (thinking about full timing), but I'd rather be here for my granddaughter's first few years before school and RV after.

Its almost like lighting money on fire. Other things are more important.
Cars ? I paid 32K for my loaded Tundra in 07. Has 90,000 miles on it, great shape.
To replace the truck it is 65-70K$. Thats insane.

New cars now are the dumbest purchase and will be for the next few years... Just from the chip shortage alone, dealerships are charging WAY over sticker for most cars. Forget the C8 vette... base sticker at $60k and dealers are selling them at $140k... but lots of work trucks like an F250 going for 70% over sticker is INSANE!!!

I mean, the wife and I upgraded to a new 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring and paid $35k for it which is way more than I wanted to pay for a car, but it was a stretch to make the wife happy. She LOVES that car. Anyway, go on Kelley's site and it's lost all of $3k in depreciation!!! In any other situation, I'd be looking at around 40%, but less than 10%??? And lots of new cars actually became more valuable than new!

It's insane.

I never believed in leasing, but I do now, at least for my wife who doesn't put many miles on a car.

No repair bills because its under warranty, not much money down and we pay $250 a month for a mid sized SUV that gets great gas mileage.

Plus, your not paying big money for a depreciating asset.

Brudda... I came within a frog's hair of buying some last Sunday morning. My mother was on the phone with me telling me to get my ass out there.

The tickets are not really the worst part for me. The cross country airfare isn't it either. I saw real issues with finding a decent place to stay and then dealing with the travel/traffic once we got out there.

I know we had a great time hanging out with you guys at the last one in Atlanta. Hopefully you can get yourselves into the pregame party this time if they have that out there. Whatever it is... please share some pics and bring us home a DUB this time!

Have a great time guys!!!
Damn that was a fun time. Win or not it was epic. What a great group that just found themselves together.

A bit late now, we certainly have the traffic figured out. I maybe could have helped you out there. The room situation we have no idea what that is really like right now. We made our room reservations about three weeks ago and decided on Long Beach as a good staging area that others may not overwhelm since we are relying on rideshare to get around. But.......we will see how that works out. We got a decent room for 350 a night which it is what it is.

No pre-game parties this year. Not that same kind of atmosphere this time around but okay with that. I am on injured reserve anyways so really can't get around as easy as last time right now.

You can count on us doing our part in getting the DUB. Something just feels right.

Enjoy the game, our best to your family, and as always........

GO RAMS!!!
