I believe he is in the International Volleyball Hall of Fame too.
I watched him play at the Forum once. They were playing Co-ed Pro volleyball. These girls would dive and bump these rockets of Wilt’s spikes. Amazing.

At the break, Wilt took two regulation basketballs, held them out and popped them between his hands. Legend was that Wilt never spent any time in the weight room and was regarded as the naturally strongest human in history. Ah… such is lore. But we believed it after seeing that.

I actually got to watch him play a pick up game at UCLA when a friend of my sister’s boyfriend was playing for the Bruins. Can’t remember his name but he went on to be a bench sitter for the Lakers. I think he played in a few games for them.

I’m sure you could be on the PGA tour. Shit. I’ve played HORSE and didn’t even get tired. I’ve played baseball and softball without sweating. I’ve run and jumped. Must make me a track athlete.

Pro golfers aren’t just hitting a little ball, taking a swig off their beer, and jumping in a cart.

That's basically what golf is to me.

1. Tee off and get the ball as close to the green as possible.
2. Get the ball in the little hole with limited tries as possible.
3. Flag Down the mobile bar for a mai tai.

There was one instance when my ball landed in the sand trap and I forgot to smooth it out, I did see the rake but I assumed the grounds crew forgot it so I just moved on. The group behind us (especially one anal retentive individual) was barking up a storm, and my pal went over and explained I didn't know the rules as it was my first time. If he had asked nicely and explained to me the rules I would have went back and smoothed it out, but I just politely walked away and left it the way it was.... My way of quietly saying "tough shit asshole."

I golfed a 105 the first and only time I golfed 18 holes with my buddies and they were impressed... Hell I didn't even know they were keeping score. I was confused by the iron selection so I just used three irons. The only one I was familiar with was the wood that looked like a boxing glove, only because I would go driving with my friends at the City of Industry driving range up on Puente Hills.

Only reason I even played because my wife wanted to go with the other wives and enjoy the Country Club side of it, and we were in Arizona for the Rams game, so I really didn't have anything else to do. But one thing for sure, I will never watch golf on TV.

And? Because you shot a 105 and played a casual game of golf, pro golfers are not athletes? Pretty silly take. Your little game of golf can never compare to the guys on the tour.

I don’t watch it either but I’m not fooling myself to think that these guys don’t go through training and conditioning like most other sports figures.

You can bump a ball over a net at the beach then go over and take a pull off your drink and walk into the surf. I guess that means volleyball players are not athletes.

:eyeroll:

Volley ball players are athletes for sure, even soccer players are athletes.

I associate golf with chess.... it's a game not a sport....
