Back then it was true! Today, the lineman are more athletic than he was.No one even remotely compares to Fran. He'd wear out two defensive lines by halftime. You ever see so many big guys sucking wind.

Yep. I want him as well. I don't care if he weighs in at 180 and measures at 5'11'' at the Pajama Party. This kid does things on the field that I've never seen any QB do in nearly 45 years of watching Football, College or Pro.
I'll sum up the difference between him and Bradford in one brief paragraph:
Bradford acts like he doesn't care if he doesn't convert a key 3rd and short late in a game.
Manziel plays every down as if the life of every one of his family members depends on it.
Back then it was true! Today, the lineman are more athletic than he was.
I'm not sold he can make it in the NFL. His arm strength is not that great. His accuracy is not that great. He can extend plays with his feet and move around well in the pocket but makes way too many risks. To me, he's not worth higher than a mid 2nd round pick. But there will be some GM that would be willing to take him in the first, which is why he won't be wearing horns.
Plus he's a spoiled brat, rich douche bag
His accuracy is not that great? I believe he led the SEC in accuracy at around 69% last season and this season. And the SEC is no panzy league either.
Edit:
2012: 68% Completion Rate. 1st in the SEC. 9th in the NCAA
2013: 69.9% Completion Rate. 1st in the SEC. 4th in the NCAA
I would say that's pretty damn accurate.
So what if he's rich? That sounds like petty, envious jealousy and speaks poorly more about you than him. C'mon, really?
I mean, Tim Tebow is a model citizen but I wouldn't want him as my QB
Heck, if I had a 20-something year-old daughter I would want her to marry him, but I wouldn't want him to QB my team.
And yeah, Manziel is coming out. Evans is coming out. Matthews is coming out. Why would he stay? His best WR will be gone. His best OL will be gone. No reason to stay. He'll go top 8
Hopefully, he'll go 2nd
Manziel maybe a DB, but it's because he's a rich kid that has gotten everything he's ever wanted. He's 21 years old and has money. Of course he's a db Maturity is not going to be part of his personal life, but he plays far beyond his years when he steps between the lines.
If I had a young daughter and she brought Tim Tebow home, I'd be thrilled and would want her to marry him, but I wouldn't want him to be my starting QB.
As for Manziel not having arm strength, IDK how that even got started - go on YT and watch some vids. He can deliver the out pass from the opposite hash with heat and accuracy. He can throw the long pass and drop it right over the WR's shoulder as if he were dropping it into a bucket, and that's off of his back foot. The kid has a strong arm. Not a Dan Marino arm, but a strong enough, NFL quality arm. He can contort his body, throwing on the run and still deliver a strike with some pepper on it.
And yeah, I'd rather have a QB that looks like RG3 going thru menopause than a guy that drops back and looks like a guy walking backwards thru footdeep snow, taking a good .5th of a second at minimum off of his pass protection time leading to more sacks. Watch some tape of SB on a 5 or 7 step dropback - it's like he's wearing cement shoes. When you have just 2.5 seconds to throw, that .5th of a wasted second really matters. Clemens drops back so much faster even though he gets sacked more.
Bradford just seems to be in slo-mo out there. Manziel, like Bradford, will have to learn how to play and take a snap from under Center.
Manziel has much quicker feet so I don't think his drop back will be sluggish like Bradford's.
Sorry, but paying 18 Million a year on average for someone entering his 5th year of on the job training with minimal results is not a winning formula in the NFL or anywhere else. The Rams are in a position to dump SB and realize cap savings while having a high pick and having a chance to take a QB that will fill the Dome and bring some excitement back to STL
And imagine Manziel and Austin lined up together in the backfield. That would give DC's nightmare's.
Fisher and Schotty need to draft Manziel and get into the modern game and implement the Pistol/Option with these two speedsters and give Defenses fits and create mismatches.
Why the hell did we trade up for Austin if were just going to use him as a checkdown receiver?
Manziel would be the perfect compliment to Austin.
Welcome NorCal to the board.
You make some valid points about the Manziel and Bradford. I think Manziel is a better QB than most give him credit. It's hard getting around his personality.
I'm resigned to the fact Fish is tied at the hip with Bradford this year. Let's hope for the best but after next year he's more than just fair game. That's why they play the games. His demeanor, skills and career progression reminds me of Jim Plunket who eventually did win a SB but just not with Buffalo.
The QB controversy that many are trying and hoping to avoid may be unavoidable.
NorCalRamFan thinking we're afraid of Manziel in our division:
All the Manziel nay-sayers, do you want him in our division?
duckhunter adding his input:
Yeah, maybe DEs were relatively larger to stop the run first offenses and hence slower than the Pass Rush Specialist today.
It's too bad that the Rams likely won't draft Manziel and the Rams will stick with SB for another year or two, then start all over again. At that time, Manziel will be flourishing for whatever team picks him and we can add him to the long list of "what ifs" of Rams draft picks that weren't made.
No guts, no glory.
After 45 years, I'm just about done. I'll watch the Rams, but to watch real talent like Quinn and 'Tree. Players that don't take 5 years to hopefully develop while soaking up huge cap dollars.
And I'll certainly watch whatever team drafts Manziel.
And the Rams will continue to go 7-9, 6-10 and we'll hear the usual chorus of excuses. They'll pick another QB, the young core of talent will get older, the window will get smaller and opportunity will be once again missed. Sad, but true.
The only silver lining is the SF and Seattle will have to pay out huge contracts to Kap and to Wilson in the next couple of years.
I just hope AZ doesn't end up with Manziel. All the Manziel nay-sayers, do you want him in our division?
I didn't think so.
On the flip side, we're going to have to pay Robert Quinn a lot of money after next season. But he's worth every cent.
He is definitely an egotistical jerk, but he reminds me more of a quarterback named Joe Montana, than anyone that I have seen in years. Only difference is he has more mobility. I wonder how he will handle it when he suffers his first major injury in the NFL. I am not sure about his durability.
