Manziel maybe a DB, but it's because he's a rich kid that has gotten everything he's ever wanted. He's 21 years old and has money. Of course he's a db Maturity is not going to be part of his personal life, but he plays far beyond his years when he steps between the lines.
If I had a young daughter and she brought Tim Tebow home, I'd be thrilled and would want her to marry him, but I wouldn't want him to be my starting QB.
As for Manziel not having arm strength, IDK how that even got started - go on YT and watch some vids. He can deliver the out pass from the opposite hash with heat and accuracy. He can throw the long pass and drop it right over the WR's shoulder as if he were dropping it into a bucket, and that's off of his back foot. The kid has a strong arm. Not a Dan Marino arm, but a strong enough, NFL quality arm. He can contort his body, throwing on the run and still deliver a strike with some pepper on it.
And yeah, I'd rather have a QB that looks like RG3 going thru menopause than a guy that drops back and looks like a guy walking backwards thru footdeep snow, taking a good .5th of a second at minimum off of his pass protection time leading to more sacks. Watch some tape of SB on a 5 or 7 step dropback - it's like he's wearing cement shoes. When you have just 2.5 seconds to throw, that .5th of a wasted second really matters. Clemons drops back so much faster even though he gets sacked more.
Bradford just seems to be in slo-mo out there. Manziel, like Bradford, will have to learn how to play and take a snap from under Center.
Manziel has much quicker feet so I don't think his drop back will be sluggish like Bradford's.
Sorry, but paying 18 Million a year on average for someone entering his 5th year of on the job training with minimal results is not a winning formula in the NFL or anywhere else. The Rams are in a position to dump SB and realize cap savings while having a high pick and having a chance to take a QB that will fill the Dome and bring some excitement back to STL
And imagine Manziel and Austin lined up together in the backfield. That would give DC's nightmare's.
Fisher and Schotty need to draft Manziel and get into the modern game and implement the Pistol/Option with these two speedsters and give Defenses fits and create mismatches.
Why the hell did we trade up for Austin if were just going to use him as a checkdown receiver?
Manziel would be the perfect compliment to Austin.
