144th pick goes down in history with the name of John Theus, OT, Georgia on it!

2000889.jpg

JOHN THEUS, OT
SCHOOL: GEORGIA | CONFERENCE: SEC
COLLEGE EXPERIENCE: SENIOR | HOMETOWN: JACKSONVILLE, FL
HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6-6 / 313 LBS.
PROJECTED RANKING
OVERALL POSITION
89 10
PLAYER LOWDOWN
COMBINE RESULTS

WORKOUT RESULTS

5.15 3.00 1.80 - 28 8'7" 4.78 7.90
PLAYER OVERVIEW
Theus is a versatile lineman who has played right tackle and left tackle while starting 48 games and playing in all 53 during his career at Georgia. He accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl following the 2015 season.
STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES
STRENGTHS: Possesses a naturally large frame with broad shoulders, long arms (34 1/8") and a relatively trim middle. Offers some positional versatility after splitting time between left and right tackle over four years as starter in a pro-style scheme.

Gets a good initial pop on defenders and has the balance and lateral agility to slide in pass protection. Keeps his knees (rather than his waist) bent, helping him absorb bull rushes. Competitive. Looks for opponents to hit and helps teammates.

Durable. Started 48 of 53 possible games for the Bulldogs and played in the other five. Has no known serious injuries over his career and despite his experience, opted to participate in the Senior Bowl.

WEAKNESSES: Doesn't possess ideal initial quickness or the agility to recover if beaten off the snap, making Theus a liability against speed rushers.

Overly reliant on an initial shove and fails to sustain blocks. Too often plays flat-footed or even on his heels (rather than on the balls of his feet) at the moment of contact, leaving him off-balance and vulnerable to quickness, including counter moves.

A bit of a plodder when blocking on the move, struggling to consistently reach opponents at the second level.

IN OUR VIEW: Given that he is a four-year starter against SEC competition, Theus is relatively "proven," but he doesn't possess ideal athleticism for blocking on the perimeter and may be too tall to move inside to guard. He's experienced enough to be thrown into the fire early in his NFL career, but there is some concern that he's already maxed out.

Theus has the build, strength and experience to make an NFL roster and has proven his positional versatility. His ceiling may be as a swingman for depth purposes who doesn't necessarily project as a future starter.

@shaunpinney is at present suffering from a severe migraine and has gone to someplace dark. As in no lights dark. He might not be back until early in the morning our time. I'm just guessing though.

I appreciate all of y'all so much more at Round 5 than I did at Round 1. Is that why this has taken so long? So we might empathize with our fellow Rams brothers. I hope we all have great health and I thank you all for being such a cool part of my life

This 2016 ROD Mock Draft is one of the cooler things I've experienced - did you know I was on the set of Def Leppard's "Slang" video directed by Nigel Dick for Squeak Pictures ? So if this draft blows that video away you have to know how awesome this is !!!!

with the 145th selection of the ROD Draft - the Chicago bears select:

Thomas Duarte - TE, UCLA
la-sp-ucla-thomas-duarte-football-20141109

Height: 6-2. Weight: 231. Arm: 33. Hand: 10. 40 Time: 4.72.

After trading away Martellus Bennett to the New England Patriots, the Bears are down a player with sure hands and a knack for getting into the end zone.

Duarte made 53 receptions for 872 yards with 10 touchdowns. He was a flex receiver and tight end for the Bruins. Duarte could be a receiving tight end in the NFL to play a role like Jordan Reed or Aaron Hernandez. That would be his best role at the next level, and in that position, he still needs to improve as a blocker. As a sophomore, Duarte had 28 catches for 540 yards with four scores. He played better against weak competition.

STRENGTHS
Glider. Able to create early defender leans with his route work. Has hips to swerve into change of direction creating separation inside red area and can sink into breaks and make razor-sharp cuts inside his routes. Has burst out of break points to uncover against safeties and slot corners. Able and willing to work the middle. Doesn’t scare easily.

WEAKNESSES
'Tweener size. Scouts worry he can’t get big enough to become matchup/move tight end. Routes can be disrupted by contact in space. Production bolstered by unguarded looks and catches on air. Didn't have to face dedicated coverage he'll see in pros. Needs to catch over corral. Disinterested as blocker.

NFL COMPARISON

PLAYER OVERVIEW
Ngakoue was second in the FBS in sacks (13.5) and led the Terrapins in tackles for loss (15.0) and quarterback hurries (seven) when he announced on Nov. 30 that he would skip his senior season and enter the NFL Draft.

"While the last three years have been unforgettable and I would love nothing more than to come back for another season, I have decided to forgo my final year of eligibility to pursue my lifelong dream of playing in the NFL to compete at the next level," Ngakoue wrote in a letter that he posted on Twitter. "I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me during my time at Maryland."

A native of Bowie, Maryland, Ngakoue (pronounced IN-gah-kway) became a starter last season as a sophomore and earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors. As a junior this past year, he developed into a standout pass rusher for the Terps off the edge with at least one sack in 10 straight games. His 13.5 sacks in 2015 set a new school record.

"We are thrilled for Yannick and his family that he has made this decision to pursue his lifelong dream of playing in the NFL," said interim head coach Mike Locksley. "After speaking with Yannick and his family, he feels that he is prepared to take this step in his football career and we support his decision. We wish him well and look forward to seeing him compete at the highest level."

One of the priorities for former Terrapins coach Randy Edsall was to recruit the local talent in and around the D.C. area and by convincing Ngakoue to remain close to home rather than sign with Florida State, South Carolina or West Virginia, he and the Terps accomplished that goal.

Ngakoue flashed big-play ability immediately for the Terrapins, recording an interception in his first game (Old Dominion) and enjoying splashy performances against former ACC rivals Clemson (three tackles for loss, one sack) and Virginia Tech (half a sack, forced fumble) as a freshman.

STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES
STRENGTHS: Ngakoue has the edge athleticism to burst off the snap and threaten the corner with quickness and flexibility. He has an active and powerful hand slap and good lateral agility to keep opponents from latching on. He stays balanced in his movements to easily change directions and make an impact in pursuit, showing an explosive burst to close when the ball is near. He possesses a compact, athletic build and flashes the power to anchor when he keeps his pad level low. Ngakoue has experience rushing off the edge from either side and on stunts, showing the balance, agility and quickness to project as an immediate impact rusher in the NFL.

WEAKNESSES: Ngakoue is a bit of a one-trick speed rusher at this time, with only 1.5 of his 15 tackles for loss this season coming in the running game. He's reliant on his initial burst and agility to gain him freedom immediately and struggles to disengage, too often being driven completely out of the play when blockers are able to grab hold. Too often he is effectively sealed off by tight ends in the running game. He doesn't have ideal length for the position and needs to develop his functional strength to match power-with-power. Maryland moved him around a lot, helping to manufacture his production. Typically lined up in the three-point stance and may struggle acclimating to a two-point stance if asked to be a stand-up rusher.

IN OUR VIEW: Ngakoue is a classic 'tweener with the burst to challenge tackle's reach but only playing strength at this time, making him a stud against the pass but a dud versus the run. His instincts have improved from last season, playing with more purpose and awareness against the run and pass, alike, in 2015, leading to optimism that he may just be scratching the surface of his potential.

with the 145th selection of the ROD Draft - the Chicago bears select:

Aaron Hernadez
Nice pick @shaunpinney! And no one picked him already!:D(y)(y)
