Yea we'll be a lot better vs the run for sure. I agree I think we still add a OLB and CB but doubt it will be one of the big names. Hopefully I'm wrong but I bet we go for bargain type guys. I'd rather spend on edge though because I dont trust Lewis at all and I think Hollins is just average at best. There are still some quality vet edge guys that would make a huge difference for us. What if losing out on Von ends up being a blessing in disguise and we actually sign a decent edge and CB still. Wouldn't that be nuts.

I firmly believe bro once AD and Cooper are extended possibly ashawn it will free up a hefty amount and they will use it to trade for a corner or OLB or sign a FA some sort of combination. This will be interesting. Obj cannot be forgotten either. They seem very serious about wanting him back

Now our defense has AD, Ramsey, Floyd and Wagner as the core. If we can get a decent edge thru the draft, trade or FA, the Rams look to have a dominating defense this season. If we can get OBJ back next season, hopefully by mid season, we will be one of the favorites to win the Lombardi again. Heck, the Rams might be dominating without adding another incredible edge with the guys we have.

I'm not sure we can swing it, but Sony Michel was a good addition and I'd like to see him back. Akers is awesome but he and Henderson might have an injury in the season and Michel is a great back to have in the stable.
I would call A'Shawn core too.

If they're paying BW 65M, there's no way he can lose the starting job to E Jones... right?

Just kinda concerned that the Rams are gonna have an excellent young ascending player (Jones) who might not see the field as much as we'd want him to.

And yeah, right now I'm not too amped about OLB opposite Floyd. Lewis, Hollins, Garrett... any of those 3 are a huge downgrade from Von.

Like everyone else, I'm pumped for the BW signing, just concerned about the "Plan B" after losing Von.
I believe that the probable lineup is with Wagner @ the previous Reeder post (MLB) & Jones ( WSILB') post beside Wagner, with newly contracted Travin Howard in relief of Jones. Christian Rozeboom behind Wagner.

So we should have both Jones & Wagner on the field together a good amount. SS Taylor Rapp might see some action in the ILB'er post at times as well.

The current OLB'er cadre might be in much better overall condition than the Corner unit at this time.

My bad. He was a freaking stud against the run game, especially in the playoffs. Nice, we have 5 star/stud/core players. Gaines is getting better and better as well. Too bad Weddle retired.

But maybe Weddle and Whitworth will stay in shape "just in case"?

More like a Stone Wall for RB's to run into.

Had to be one of the most impressive run-stopping dominant DT's seen in the playoffs in many years.:wow2::sur::fistbump1:

Reminded me of when the Pats interior DL'ers shut down Gurley & the Rams in the 2017 season SB. DT's of the Pats were Danny Shelton, Lawrence Guy & Malcom Brown dominated the Rams OL.

Similar to several other great defenses with a top player at each level. The Ravens had that with Gnata, Lewis and Reed. Its kind of like the makeup of a good baseball team. Strong up the middle - catcher, SS, CF

I don't want any Rams fans complaining about the Yankees ever again. This is what having George Steinbrenner felt like all of those years as a Yankee. Having a rich owner who knows its best for business to spend to keep a team strong is a wonderful thing in sports.

The Rams are quickly becoming the newest team for other fans to hate.

Who cares as long as those Lombardis keep coming in. A repeat this year would be so sweet. Even better if Deebo is crying because we beat them again.

But to see the Rams front office be this aggressive and willing to pay big money while managing to stay under a salary cap is some elite next level contract management by Snead, Pastoors, and Demoff. Remember in baseball there's no cap, so rich franchises can just buy up whoever they want to gain a competitive advantage. To me it makes what we've done the last 5 years all that more impressive. And I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we're not done this off-season.

There is a salary cap in football that wasn’t the case when yanks were actually outspending other teams by large amounts. Rams are spending what any other team is allowed to spend I don’t really understand that comparison and I hear it a lot albeit almost exclusively from non rams fans.

But I’m glad our owner and team are both willing to hand out the cash/contracts/guarantees that keep us competitive!

Do most teams stay well under the cap?

I never understood why teams would be proud of being $50M+ under the cap while fielding substandard teams. The cap is there to be spent. It's purpose is to maintain competitiveness in the league.

Les is breaking the NFL. He's separating the teams that want to win and the teams that only say that. Last year it was Fuck Them Picks, this year it's Fuck The Cap. Remember the fewer high draft picks the smaller the team's rookie pool needs to be. That money is then available for proven players.

I think they could clear another $16-$20M in cap restructuring and extending AD and Kupp. That gets OBJ and Michel signed and hopefully another edge like Hunter.

The Rams now are set at ILB with Wagner, Jones, and Howard giving them star power at every level of the defense. Morris needs to play the entire season like he played the playoffs. If he does this team can be scary good on both sides of the ball.

I hope they go the corner route (trade for Bradberry or somehow get Gilmore interested, not sure if this is possible) and get a vet edge at the vet minimum. Gotta think it'll be more enticing for a vet like a Justin Houston/Melvin Ingram/Jerry Hughes to join our stacked D.

I think the more accurate comparison is back when the Yankees were winning championships, if there was a star available, odds were good they'd get him. It made the inequity police raise hell. Now in the NFL it seems, if a star is available, there's a good chance he wants to play in L.A.. So the Rams must be cheating the cap better than other teams. The Yankee - Rams comparison is not only fair, I welcome it!

Who were the 2 best acquisitions last year? OBJ and Miller. This year? It's harder to not say Wilson, Watson, etc but in the end the winners will get blamed. Wagner, OBJ and Robinson.
