Pretty savvy signing in my book. What we lost with Weddle in the run stopping phase we gain back with Wagoner.

We all know the middle of our defense was a massive black hole, especially with Reeder and Rapp in there. Wagoner, if he still has gas in the tank should be able to shore that up. We will see.

Will be interesting to see what our defense can look like with our powerful front 3 backed by Wagoner and Jones.

I still think we are a CB short of fielding a championship team though.

I do like how the Snead Machine finds ways to bring game changers in. The guaranteed money will probably be an overspend, but if we win another Super Bowl who cares.

Oh El Chapos' Magical nut sack, will we get Gilmore?

That's iffy at the moment. Probably have to wait awhile for an answer there. The sack says it would take a ballsy move where we trade someone away to make more CAP room.

I have got to think the smarts aspect is huge here.
The argument that they need a real leader in the back 7 to get them lined up and in position to succeed is one I’m very willing to listen too.

Like you said.. echoes of Weddle.

This is big for us in multiple ways. Great veteran leadership.... a great mentor for Ernest Jones.... keeps us in the with 2 ILBs on the field more which we did 2 years ago when we had the #1 defense... this takes ILB off as a draft need which will allow us to double up with edge rushers or CBs in the draft...

I'm thinking we have some more restructuring coming based on this deal because we do have a couple more needs..

but this is big for us...

Somewhere in a smoky mountain cabin, Jeff Fisher is eating a can of spam and crying happy tears while watching his 13 inch black and white with rabbit ears..” Bobby has finally come home”

based on the money he got, and his history of play, i have a hard time seeing him coming off the field instead of jones on plays they only want one out there. but i do wonder if they will at least flirt with the idea of having jones play some edge on plays they only want one ilb out there. I know its much different than blitzing from the ilb spot, but he did that quite well last year, and they seemed to use him more on them down the stretch

The actual contract terms should be interesting.

Leonard Floyd wears #54. I wonder what number Wagner will take?

Playing behind AD, Gaines, and A'Shawn will allow him to roam and make a ton of plays. We will tweak our scheme accordingly because Ernest Jones needs to be on the field too. We can also blitz Jones on passing downs from the edge or inside as he was very good at rushing the passer last year for a rookie ILB. I still think we sign a veteran OLB/CB as well but this was a big signing for us after Von leaving.
I think the only big signing left will be OBJ. Not including extentions.

Now our defense has AD, Ramsey, Floyd and Wagner as the core. If we can get a decent edge thru the draft, trade or FA, the Rams look to have a dominating defense this season. If we can get OBJ back next season, hopefully by mid season, we will be one of the favorites to win the Lombardi again. Heck, the Rams might be dominating without adding another incredible edge with the guys we have.

I'm not sure we can swing it, but Sony Michel was a good addition and I'd like to see him back. Akers is awesome but he and Henderson might have an injury in the season and Michel is a great back to have in the stable.
