Like for example I see LaPorta going round 3 in a lot of mocks but when I watch him in the pattern I think to myself "this is a guy who is going to feast in the pass game for some lucky team." He separates and looks like he'll make a killing in the NFL running option routes with those natural skills he possesses. Now I realize his blocking sucks. I mean he's willing but that's not an area he's gonna help you. But he is not Gesicki or one of these rarely talented types where his workout or raw gifts will wow you but he'll disappear. He is more a guy who will consistently threaten teams underneath even as a rookie if used correctly. That is precisely the type of player we could use in this draft.
I think Gibbs is Gurley-esque, without the knee issues. Think how dynamic our offense would become with Stafford, Kupp, and Gibbs leading the way?I think you definitely find a way to get him. I like him a lot too. Maybe slight trade down.
John Michael Schmitz I like, too.
But I’d love me some Gibbs.
I am SOLD on him. I’d even consider slight trade up.I think Gibbs is Gurley-esque, without the knee issues. Think how dynamic our offense would become with Stafford, Kupp, and Gibbs leading the way?
Got a question for you what OL moves have we made. We resigned a journeyman/barely a starter level in Shelton. Why is the OL in any better shape than the D. They both are horrendous.earlier in the year i wanted two offensive line men with our first two picks. after all the trades and cuts i think this draft has to be almost all defensive. now i just hope we use a late rnd pick to get a big nasty fb.
Yeah…we have no chance next wee—-I originally thought the OLB position lined up nicely to take at #36 but now I am wide open to the best player within reason (bpa - OLB, LT, TE, C, LG, S, CB possibly RB) because we have so many holes.
Other than 30 lbs, 3" and toughness, Man if he finds his way to LA I hope you are right. I just don't see it on this team, on the right team yes but here no IMOI think Gibbs is Gurley-esque, without the knee issues. rdlkgliders,I know I am in the minority but I hope we don't go after Gibbs. He doesn't run tough and had one of the lowest yards after contact at or behind the LOS in all of D1.
Not a fit with our O.L as we sit, lots of value at RB and we have needs just about everywhere.
He is phenomenal in space, the problem is how to get him in space.
I wasn't going to dare bring up DH because I already know the reaction it would bring. They are similar in size and college production. Gibbs is really flashy in space, watching highlights reminds me a bit of how TA would explode off the screen.rdlkgliders,
That's what I noticed too. He ran thru huge holes opened by typical Alabama blocking. He won't see that kind of daylight in the NFL.
Also, I think in today's NFL breaking tackles and maximizing runs are Job 1 for any starting RB. And I didn't see that from him at all.
Heh....while I was watching this kid's highlights I kept thinking that he reminded me of someone. Then I remembered the Darrel Henderson's highlight vid from his days at Memphis.
These two look and run about the same.

Yeah I feel like a trade up will be required to get him. And honestly McVay probably would do it too. Because he's a passcatchy sumbish just the way McVay likes 'em. Just so happens he can tote the rock too.I am SOLD on him. I’d even consider slight trade up.
“We’ll, that’s just not fair!”Nolan Smith or Banks from your list. Some of those guys I simply don't want because there names are too hard to pronounce.
Alan Hendon Hooker, never needed one maybe now is the time.Who do you like?
For a later round playmaker at RB, check out Keaton Mitchell, East Carolina:

Measured in at 5’8, 179 at Combine, where he ran a 4.37 forty and a 1.48 ten yard split (fastest time of any RB).Yeah, Mitchell would be a fun toy. I posted that same video a couple of weeks ago and mentioned how he would be fun for McVay. He is 5'7" and 170 so quite small but absolutely electric with the ball.
