Van traded to ATL with a 7th for a 2025 6th.

God damn Les is a fucking disaster at trading players away.
His trades FOR players aren't so great, either. He pays through to nose to acquire players, and dumps them for spare change.

Yeah, but you also have to consider that in the meantime, we win a Super Bowl with those players, so there's that.

Wow, again, terrible compensation coming back to us for a trade. Imagine if we get hit with a couple of injuries at WR (knocking on wood). Keeping him would have made FAR more sense to me then getting literally pennies in 2025. Not to mention, if he got a decent contract, we could have gotten a comp pick. I guess this suggests that we are not going to be all about comp picks this offseason and we are going to sign some guys. That said, awful trade. Couldn't even get a 6th or 7th outright?!?

The guy is talented, we've seen it. He's just not better then Kupp, Puka, or Atwell. He is likely day one starter on Falcons.
So the rules don't apply to non-Rams players right? Dude, Van sucked ass lately. He's easily replaceable. If we have injuries past our top 2 WRs, we are fucked anyways. We already survived not having Kupp and Van not doing jack shit. Ok, end rant hahaha

Source: Falcons trade for Rams WR Van Jefferson

The Atlanta Falcons have traded for Los Angeles Rams receiver Van Jefferson, a source confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday.

As part of the deal, the Falcons will send a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Rams for a seventh-round selection in the same year, the source said.

Jefferson is in his fourth season out of Florida, and he has eight catches for 108 yards and no touchdowns this season. A source had told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler earlier Tuesday the Rams were looking for a new home for Jefferson.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound receiver has played in 49 games for Los Angeles, making 30 starts. His best year came in 2021, when the Rams made their Super Bowl run. He started every game that season and had career highs in targets (89), catches (50), yards (802) and touchdowns (six).

Jefferson, 27, has struggled to secure a substantial role this season in part because of the emergence of rookie star Puka Nacua and third-year receiver Tutu Atwell. He was on the field for just two offensive plays in the Rams' 23-14 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, as Los Angeles' receiving corps was bolstered by All-Pro Cooper Kupp's return from injured reserve.

Jefferson will now join an Atlanta receiving corps led by Drake London, the Falcons' first-round pick in 2022, and Mack Hollins, who signed a one-year contract with Atlanta this past offseason. He provides another offensive option for the Falcons and second-year quarterback Desmond Ridder, who is coming off the best game of his career, completing 75.7% of his passes for 329 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.

With a late-round pick swap, it's a low-risk, potentially high-reward move for Atlanta, similar to the trade the franchise made with New England for tight end Jonnu Smith in March. Smith now leads the Falcons in receiving yards (246) and is tied with Bijan Robinson for the team lead in receptions (21).

The Falcons also have tight end Kyle Pitts, their 2021 first-round pick, as a receiving target. Jefferson and Pitts were teammates for two seasons at Florida.

Les continues to give away role players for peanuts to other GM’s

So that when he’s ready to unload #1’s for studs he’s got ‘em all buttered up and on speed dial

When Jefferson didn't step up and take advantage of his opportunity he was gone. Guy is average at best. Doesn't block.

You don't save a damn thing.
Don't we save $1.3 mil for the 12 remaining games this season? That's what overthecap seems to indicate.

If we kept him as a depth player this year we'd have to pay him for the next 12 games and the let him walk after the season. If he signed somewhere else, maybe wg'd get a late round comp pick in 2025.

I'm OK with the move.

It was probably the choice of trading Van for a 2025 seventh round pick, or doing a swap of picks like they did. If that is the case I will take the swap of picks all day any day.

Not surprised I heard about it last night that he's going to Atlanta. I posted this morning in another thread he was gone. He's a very good WR though some here don't really understand what his role is. They are doing him a solid by giving him a chance to further his career. He got his ring so I'm happy for the guy. Good luck to him.
