By the way.. the biggest obvious reason for this to me is to open up a couple of $$. It doesn't get you much, but everything counts.

Wow, again, terrible compensation coming back to us for a trade. Imagine if we get hit with a couple of injuries at WR (knocking on wood). Keeping him would have made FAR more sense to me then getting literally pennies in 2025. Not to mention, if he got a decent contract, we could have gotten a comp pick. I guess this suggests that we are not going to be all about comp picks this offseason and we are going to sign some guys. That said, awful trade. Couldn't even get a 6th or 7th outright?!?

The guy is talented, we've seen it. He's just not better then Kupp, Puka, or Atwell. He is likely day one starter on Falcons.
You don't save a damn thing.
Sure you save a couple of dollars. And with the glaring need to pick up a DL, they need every penny they can get.

As for comp formula.. he wasn't getting anything that would make any impact there greater than a switch. A sixth round comp pick is at the end of that round, so it's basically a 7th.. which you traded away.

It doesn't change the fact that several of them contributed to that Super Bowl season.
Yall can live in the past if you want I prefer the present and future. No matter how you slice it that draft was terrible...and alot of Sneads drafts have been since mcvay.

Probably get a 6th RD comp without trading a 7th in FA

I don't think so.

Remember, the comp picks are based on what a team loses in free agency compared to what they add.

The Rams have gotten comp picks in recent off-seasons because they have lost players in free agency but signed very few.

In 2023, the Rams lost Gaines, Gay, Rapp, Edwards, Robinson, Long, Hill and a couple others but signed no one. Rypien, Witherspoon, Robinson, Michel and the two Johnsons all were signed after the Draft; and they do not count against the comp pick formula. Accordingly, the Rams will probably get three late round comp picks for the 2024 Draft.

That will probably not be the case this coming off-season, when the Rams will have cap space and should be somewhat active in free agency. The Rams don't have many significant pending free agents. They don't figure to get 2025 compensatory picks because the quality of their net additions (signings) should out-weigh their net losses (Rams leaving).

Yall can look at things in a binary way or see that there was good/bad there.

And yall can look at Snead's drafts however you want.

Rams may have wanted to do right by Jefferson too, he may have wanted out with little to no playing time going forward. He's bascially been a starter for the last few years.

Good luck Van.
Thx for donning the horns and making some plays.
Most of all, thx for your part in the epic comeback against the Raiders on my 50th birthday.

Moving Van Jeff happened very quickly, this creates yet another roster spot for us, so perhaps Snead is getting ready to bite on another trade, this time bringing in a new player for us. Could it be an inexpensive NT since Bobby Brown was injured, ... or ?

If Brown goes on short-term-IR, as expected, the Rams will have two open spots on their 53 man roster.

That doesn't mean they will add two players. The Rams were carrying just 50 for a couple weeks.

Also, believe Trammel is now on the 53.

@AvengerRam Unlikely we receive compensation if we didn’t resign VJ in 2024 offseason. Rams are slated to spend more than they will lose in FA next year. The greater spend will offset any FA losses.

Rams have about 6 million in space now, from what I've read.
