I got you.fearsome, you are one of the best posters here IMO. I kinda have this list, OK, OK judgy I guess !
Everyone has hobbies and I have some expensive ones. I have always had a guitar and do not know how to play it. When I retire I plan on giving it a shot. Learning to play music is very good for your brain I believe.
Just not of fan of adults seriously into video games. Say its "weird judgyism", that fine , I get it.
At work there are these kids, well adults that live alone in little apartments and their only friends are these people they play video games with online. No idea how to just go up and talk to a girl.
Part of me would luv to play the computer games where you fly fighter jets, battleships ect. Just have to resist it. I have too many things to do in real life than light time on fire. We only have so much of it after all.
Little not so secret here....I agree with you about the video games.
All up to the person and what they enjoy was all I was saying....in sort of sort of grumpy way.
Video games are fine in doses and moderation.
But, you are right, too many people it becomes the center of their world, relationships and reality.
So easy to burn away 10-12 hours at a time, esp on the weekends.
My nephew, now 21, was falling into this. Dude would barely get outside. This, of course, fed even more laziness.
I finally talked him into joining a gym. He would walk in, head down, shoulders slumped, not talking to anyone. After a bit a couple of guys introduced themselves and said they were looking to add some people to their class. He ended up joining and he got into kick boxing.
Hes a small dude....just under 100 lbs at that point.
He is still very small....about 110 lbs.
But, he found friends training that seem like good dudes and hold him accountable if he misses training. Hes worked his way up to having a couple of sanctioned fights. Going 1-1 to this point.
The bigger picture is his self confidence is much higher that before, has more friends, has a full time job now and has his own place and has a girlfriend.
Finally moved out of his moms place.
So, I do agree.....doing things that create....even if its sub par paintings or shaky guitar solos....or working with your hands and back does a great deal of good for the mind and spirit.
I enjoy your posting as well.
