No doubt. Though I suspect McVay went full conservo mode due to the fact we had the lead all night. Some of those first down play calls with runs when Seattle was sitting on the calls led to the three consecutive stuttered drives, any of which could have ended that game. The one after the INT in particular pissed me off.

Not arguing with what he did, either. He got away with it but I think our offense is capable of more vs that defense.
If this weren't the celebration thread I would say that McVay going into full conservo mode anytime before 6 minutes to go in the 4th pisses me the fuck off, but since this is the celebration thread, I'll post happy things and just think those thoughts. :sunglasses:

I agree I think our offense is capable of more versus that defense.

Agreed. At times I was thinking don't run on first and second down to get a first down. Let Stafford sling it or throw a screen. Running into a heavy box wasn't going to get the job done. Not being an amchair Monday QB, but just stating what I was thinking while the game was on. Thankfully that 61 yard FG had no chance from the beginning.

It's mainly because of the part that I capitalized and underlined. We don't insult our team - players, coaches, front office, even the cheerleaders and mascot - here. This is a board made by homers for homers. I know that some of us tend to forget that on game day, but overall, we are a positive board, and maybe you didn't read that part.

I'm sorry that you didn't stop to learn, but I'll wish you well in your future endeavors that aren't in here.
Ahhh damn!!!!

I just looked at the rules (took me a minute to find them)..... But ya I did break some rules..... I gotta apologize to the Mod.... I feel like an idiot.

I was thinking back on who all we've played now, and its pretty wild:

Texans - 5-5
Titans - 1-9
Eagles - 8-2
Colts - 8-2
Niners - 7-4
Ravens - 5-5
Jaguars - 6-4
Saints - 2-8
Niners - 7-4
Seahawks - 7-3

We've only played two teams thus far that have a losing record. The Ravens didn't have Lamar, yes - but their game against us in hindsight marked the start of their defensive turnaround, and they got several key players back against us. The Texans started poorly but clawed back to .500 - that included the healthy Bucs needing a last second TD to beat them, and they pushed Seattle a bit late in their game against them. They were also healthy against us. The Jaguars beatdown, at the time, looked like maybe we exposed them. Not so after the shellacking they put on the Chargers. They were also pretty healthy against us.

56-46 is the combined record, BUT if you remove our games.....our opponents thus far are 54-38 against the rest of the league, and we have a point differential of 100 in ten games - so we are winning by an average of double digits each game. Against teams that are OVER .500, we are 4-2, with the two losses being fluky.

I am starting to think this could be the best team of the McVay era.

Me too! and it's getting better with every game.
Only thing we lack is Todd Gurley lol. But kudos to KW for his 2 "explosive" plays last game. Great running & we needed him at that 4th & 1 at the goal line--it's really hard to stop a guy with his vision from getting in the EZ from just a few yards out.

The main person that was getting catches was the te some of that’s on speights and landman they both great in in the run game but neither are that good in coverage
That’s ok. The main thing is the Rams were not gonna let those two WRs beat them. If the seahawks were gonna win, it would have been through the TE. The run game was shut down and the two wideouts were kept in check.

That strategy probably had something to do with the 4 picks.

Also I wonder when Corum is in if there is a higher percentage of runs called do to Williams being so much better in pass pro. Seattle could have been playing the odds and playing for the run. How could we find that out.
This is it exactly.
If Corum is in you are likely getting more runs.
Williams is a better runner than Corum as well as in pass pro.
Id mix in Corum as a breather for Williams but, Im going back to a 70/30 kind of snap split with those two.

Well...I tend to think that after the 1st int, Darnold was pressing. Especially in the 2nd half because the defense was bringing better pressure.

When these two meet again, it will be a totally different game. It seemed McVay simply played a bit more conservative offensively after testing that defense on that first goal line stop. The Hags defense stood up there, to their credit.

The Ram defense was solid the whole game. On that last drive we know the Ram defense was in a bit of prevent mode but they tackled well and that was big!!!

The next clash could possibly be one for the books!!!

3 of 4 TEs whiffed on Blocks, only one I didn't see was Ferg whiffing
I saw Ferg play but was only in to Block, did anyone see him go out for a pass?
Seattle has speed on defense and a lot of it.
Allen, Fergs, and Higs all whiffed on blocks that lead to zero gain plays on those slam runs they usually pick up yards.
They whiffed blocks, but, Seattle deserves credit as well.
Allen has been blocking great and had a bad day at the office blocking.
But, a lot of time Seattle defenders beat them to the spot.

A wins a win for sure...... but Seattle isn't that good of a team.

But I have to point out the issues.... And the D only played average.

McScatterBrain looked like last years coach.... I was disappointed to see that, and especially his love affair with Corrum.
If you think Seattle isn't very good you need to watch them more.
They are an excellent and balanced team with a very good young coach.
That D is physical and fast and no joke.
Im sure McVay would agree the offense was impotent most of the day and he will likely have something else cooked up for game number 2 against the sea gulls.

The only point I would like to add to the above, is that the Rams' struggles on offense had A LOT to do with the Seahawks' exceptional Defense.

Yeah, they are excellent.
The McVay/Mcdaniel/Shanny games are going to make for some great games in the next few years.
What a loaded division when it comes to coaches and schemers.
Its like a Tyson, Holyfield, L Lewis division.....the Cardinals would be like a Bert Cooper.

For real. If KW had 4.4 speed he’d be the best all around RB in football. I do think we can afford to move on from Corum. He shows flashes, but to truly have a two back system, in this system, they both need to be able to pass block at a high level. Maybe Corum gets there, maybe he doesn’t. He certainly didn’t seem fired up to be there on Sunday

Not gonna argue that one. I see some eerie similarities to our prev McVay SB teams, if not stats then impact/presence/production.

Kupp and Puka
RG3 and Davante
Kyren and Gurley
Verse and Donald (we know Donald is 1 of 1 but this guy is similarly our swag.)
O-Line
Stafford with less picks
Ony thing not as solid is at kicker but I'll take as close to 2021 Matt Gay as Mevis can get the rest of the season. Having Greg the Leg in 2018 and Gay in 2021 were big factors in what got us there.

When you look at it, we've had a hell of a schedule. I feel both the Texans and Titans had the tone set for the rest of their seasons after playing the Rams. And then you look every single team we've played (besides the saints) were either playoff teams last year or on their way to the playoffs this year.

I am starting to think this could be the best team of the McVay era.
To this point of the season they definitely are his strongest team. The 2018 team had a midseason swoon and took a few weeks to come out of it behind CJ's addition in the backfield. This team is stronger on both sides of the ball. 2021 team was a bit soft in the middle of the sched too and didn't hit their stride until late. Both came out of the blocks a bit slow and flawed, particularly on the protections.

Only real weakness with this year's team in terms of starters is the corners and that is mitigated with the rush. It might be what ends up sending us home, but this looks like the first team McVay has had that may be able to challenge for the top seed.

Totally agree - especially the interior D-line, but I ALSO think Stafford was just off. All day.
Dirted a couple which he NEVER does, and was behind the receiver on quite a few throws.
Jmo.

(I hate people that end with jmo...)
