I think games against the Seahawks, Bucs and especially Detroit are going to be the biggest measurtig stick. The Philly game (especially the first half) really showed what they can be when firing on all cylinders.
Can only imagine if we had one or even two elite CB's how scary good we'd be.

Right or wrong. I’m not worried about the Bucs. I feel the adrenaline fueling them will run out. I’m hoping Rams put Goff on his ass 10 times fueling retribution. I do feel the Seahawks will be formidable especially at SEA.

Stroud - major issues with that Oline, going back to last year.

Ward - terrible so far.

Hurts - atore us a new one and we couldn’t stop the comeback.

Daniel Jones- we lose if Mitchell doesn’t have a Brian Fart.

Mac Jones - backup that tore us up in the middle.

Rushing - backup.

Lawrence - played well against him.

Our front is really good. Edges are top notch. Interior is excellent. Poona really improved our run D. Landman is a major upgrade. Safety’s are solid. Q has been excellent. CB’s have been serviceable.

We have really improved vs the run but have shown holes in pass converge and been lucky to have faced 2 backups, a struggling rookie and Stroud who is really struggling.
We knew going into the season that the first instance where our pass rush gets handled our secondary would get roasted. So the Eagles game proved that theory correct. First half the rush got to the QB and we had those fuckers on the ropes. Second half their OL showed up and gave their QB time and it was a different game from then on.

But the positive re: Philly is that they have one of the better OL in the league. Not a lot of teams are going to nullify our rush. Just the very best, which is why we need that corner addition, for the late playoff matchups ahead. Of course SF would play well vs us even if they had a pack of homeless dudes blocking for them but they're an outlier behind Ratboy and how he treats us as his Super Bowl every year.

This team should win a ton of games. Not sure if we'll get that top seed, we never seem to be able to do that, but at least this year we're not behind at this early juncture.

Can we say, "you are what your numbers say you are" just like "you are what your record says you are"?
That's exactly what Steelers fans are saying. However, they got be the worst 4-2 team in recent memory. In other words, the season is still young as the Rams will continue to get better and the fake 4-2 Steelers should soon be exposed as frauds. Not all records are equal.

I just wonder where their heads are at when it comes to potential trades?
Does Stafford’s performance make them push back a new QB timeline?
If he keeps this up and he still wants to play, hell yeah. I worry though that they are needing a rookie contract to pay for all the talent they drafted. I guess they call that champagne problems.

Steelers are usually a top ten defense but this year they have started poorly and are closer to the bottom third than the top third. I don't know if they will be able to sort their defense but that's their issue. Also if they do get that defense sorted they'll be in the mix so long as Rodgers isn't hurt.

But I do agree they look shaky. Didn't realize their record was that good in fact.

No more settling for opponents “on the ropes”. They need to be “on the mat” with the Rams standing over them ready with the next punch until the ref counts them out.

I believe Lane Johnson was out for that game and we were feasting on their backup tackle until they put their other backup tackle in the game and then... ugh

This video is 4 months old. So before this year.

But this guy does a great job tracking and then breaking down Jared Verse game.

A ton of in depth parsing on Jareds game.

A few things that the data shows in comparison to his peers is he uses Power (69%) and bull rush at such a high rate and he is an elite run defender. Interestingly, last year he missed an insane number of tackles (25.6) most among DE's. Presumably because of his short arms and lack of flexibility, change of direction. But his pressure rate is so elite and ability to defend the run, that it is almost a moot point as he disrupts run and pass at such a high clip. The guy points out that Jared's ability to diagnose the run and shed blocks is elite. Good example was the Ravens game on the 4th and 1 vs Henry.

Anyways, I think Verse is the foundation of our defense. Highest level of pressures in the league and stonewalls the run.

Our combined ability to rush the passer up front is just insane. I love it. Combine that with the tackling ability of our safety group and its going to be a top Defense.

What a difference a year and good linebackers makes.

It's also how well our defensive front can dominate their offensive line with the pressure we put on the quarterback.

One of the biggest things that is making our cornerbacks and all of our DBs look better is that amazing defensive line we have with the pass rush pressure making the quarterback rush his throws.

In part. But there were also plays the announcers commented on Sunday where Lawrence had time and nobody was open

Agreed on all in your post there. Will add that when we are facing run-threat QBs the better the DL as a group rush with discipline and corral the QB, the more effective Verse will be. Unfortunately though Verse still has to learn discipline himself and often runs himself out of his fit. But I think that will come, and when it does his sack totals will rise.

I don't need him to be better at tackling in space basically. All it will require to get the most from him is rush discipline. And on the pocket QBs sure, go ham out there. But as it pertains to the running QBs our issues are related largely to the DL group.

Also and btw I will say again that going back to his college tape Young's greatest asset is his contain, notably his ability to run himself back into the play. That range has served him well with our defense and is something Verse simply doesn't have. So for this reason I would say that I expect the Rams to sign Young. It is very valuable to have at least one side doing it right in the containment. And from there as Verse starts to get that going himself we'll be in good shape.

Now if that doesn't happen, then it is possible we see Verse get phased into a 5T type role (in certain down/distance situations at the least where contain is most critical). Because he has that rare combo of length and power required to perform that role optimally, which are very hard to find. As it is he already moves around well because his power allows him to matchup with whatever OL you need him to.

But how on earth do you miss six tenths of a tackle?
