I was watching the Chefs lose to the iggles. The iggles were allowed to false start on a key 4th and 1 and score a TD. But it's just my opinion, but one way to possibly stop the tush push is to have more beef out there than the iggles. In other words, you get a few other 300 pound linemen to play behind the D-line instead of 230 pound linebackers. The D Line will submarine against the O Line and then the next wave, instead of linebackers and DBs, will be more beefy D linemen. Of course you might still need to guard the edges, but at least the pile might be stopped in its tracks if the O-line has more beef opposing them. Thoughts?
The iggles will run the tush push until it is banned or Hurts gets injured. I'm not advocating intentionally injuring Hurts, but there is a lot of beef there in the middle of the LOS. Depending on the situation and field position, I might be OK with blowing up the C if my NT jumps a tad early. Maybe have Landman time up a blitz, and not be too worried if hes a tad early as he flies over the C and on top of Hurts. Make Hurts pay every time the play ends with the ball in his hands.

This reminds me what I've been hoping teams do to Patrick Mahomes when he does that cheap shit on the sidelines running out of bounds. (he fakes going out to deliver a hit on a CB, or slows up and flops on the boundary) The only thing worse than a 15 yard late hit penalty is a half-ass late hit penalty. If Patrick is even remotely close to the boundary, light the dude up.

If the Brotherly Shove can't be defended, at least make their offense think twice about deploying it. I'd have all the guys in the box smash early in unison. Give up 5 yards instead of 2 to put risk of injury on their guys instead of ours.

And............not to be dirty, but go low on that purposeful offsides. Once accidental Oline injury to a key player will make them reconsider

He body surfs while being pushed over the line. The D has guys dive over from behind but have no leverage and get push back. So the D needs to keep their feet.

Honestly, I think the defense should make up its own snap count.. and all attack in unison before the snap. That will for one, knock over all the offensive lineman and qb.. and make them think twice. But to the referees.. it will also look like a false start, since the entire defense got triggered. So you might actually get to hit them, and get a penalty for your side.

Jimmy McGinty once called that exact same play for the Washington Sentinels.

If it's a tush push outside the redzone I say sure, just have the defense absolutely haul off on their asses when they aren't ready. Probably won't work but it'd give them a taste of their own medicine at least.

I think their should be a designated 400# dude on the team, at the snap instead of going low, everyone should go up and let Philly slide right below them, then have the 400#er launch a belly flop right on top of Hurts
Wont stop the play but it will flatten out Hurts like a bumper sticker

Yes. Take a page out of Fritz Shurmur's book (sort of). Line up four linebackers on the DL and put Poona, T Davis, Kobie amd Murchison behind them. At the snap the 4 LBers go air born while the 3 to 4 big bodies push them towards Hurts. That'll stop him
......maybe even concuss him into abandoning that assinine rugby play going forward.

If its a tush push at or near the goal line teams should be intentionally jumping the snap, make em run the play several times and deliver punishment each time. Worse case its half the distance to the goal

They can try but Commodes tried that last year in the NFC championship game and officials said if they did it again they'd award a touchdown to the Eagles without a play. Not saying your wrong and if every team just did it once or twice to be dicks I wouldn't be upset by it.

This is actually a good idea. Since the play cannot be stopped why not make a fucking point!!!!!!!!
Refs went nuclear on Washington in the playoffs when they went offsides multiple times in that one shart-yardage situation.

I thought it was a great idea and I'd have thought NY might have gotten the point but they didn't.

I even suggested using some OL last year.

So call a false start! How Hard is that?!

Well, I think what he was saying is that the refs cannot see the play clearly. The bunched together lineup of the O-Line and the rest of the offense is like nothing else we've seen. Goal line offense lineups still gave the possibility of the pass to keep the defense honest. The lineup used for this play is like nothing else we've ever seen.

The offensive tackles are actually lined up in a way that does block the view of the guards. They are the biggest players on the field as we know... their bodies and giant melons can easily conceal the normal view of the inner O-Line from the refs who are staring down the line of scrimmage from each side of the field. Even if this is happening by accident, it blocks the view of the guards. But is it by accident? I would say so if just one of the guards jumped a little bit early... but what we see now is both guards jumping early like a precision dance move while being concealed by the biggest bookends of humans on the planet.

This comes from a ref who was at the highest level possible. He was the person sharing that the play is impossible to ref. We all can see that he is being 100 % honest in his description of what's happening on that play. It's not an excuse or fantasy... it's the truth.

Pushing the ball carrier forward from behind was illegal in football my whole life until they changed that common sense rule in the last few years. That was a terrible mistake.

In the meantime, I recommend that we sign a little person to the team for what could be our special version of this anti-football play. Let's just find the smallest little person we can find... when we need a yard for a first down or are being stood up on the goal line.... bring in our little dude and have him jump into the arms of our strongest player so that he can literally toss his whole body while he's holding the ball completely over the heads and hands of the defensive players. That is basically the same bastardization of the spirit of football as we're seeing now with this bs play. Seriously.

This isn't a football play... it's a way to cheat the spirit of the game. Pushing ball carriers forward from behind with your biggest dudes is blasphemy to the spirit of the sport. These fucks Philly have it down to a ballroom worthy dance move that was designed to hide the offsides of their guards purposefully jumping into the defense. It's total bullshit.

Exactly. Can't be challenged. Will most probably be right every time. Throw in a few neutral zone infractions on them as well. It will be gone long before they have to make a rule change.
