This is an interesting matchup. As recently as a week ago, I had this marked as a sure W. Now, I am not sure.
That Bears roster has lots of talent, but I was convinced we were catching them at right time. Caleb Williams looks promising and flashes at times, but is clearly still green. We are not getting him at anything lose to polished form. Their o-line, on paper, is meh. But they are playing far worse than that. They have arguably been the worst unit in the NFL. Our young d-line is gets excellent pressure, things were looking good.
But Keenan Allen is slated to return. That worries me. He's exactly the type of savvy, veteran WR that could bring their under-achieving offense together and help out a young QB. Plus, he's another weapon. The Bears WR trio of Moore - Allen - Odunze is among the best in the NFL for my money. Does anyone think our secondary can compete with that? Especially with the injuries? The worst part of their offense has been a complete inability to run. Well, they might come out of that funk too - their staff has said they are going to commit to Herbert at RB. No idea why it took them so long, to pivot from the miscasting of Swift.
Chicago is a tough place to play too.
I still think we squeeze out a win. IMO: Eberflus is completely clueless and will negate much of the above on offense. Meanwhile, McVay is among the best in the business, and we have a very clear advantage at QB - at least until Caleb grows some more. But a game I previously had banked as a very likely W, through catching Chicago at the right time, is no longer so for me. If Allen does not play, that alone is big for me.
