Never looked at that. You're probably right.

Counter point: the top 15 teams are typically the 15 worst teams. It's almost unprecedented for a top 4 team, which means it's a stacked team, to have a top 15 pick.
That is true

But I still think Bain or Cooper would have contributed quite a bit for us

If Bennett beats out Simpson.

Now we have people thinking everything will be fine for the 13th selection in the draft to not be able to beat out a career #3 QB in the NFL.

I'm gonna cheer for Simpson but I'm no simp.

Only would worry me if Simpson could not supplant Bennett as the number 2 by the end of the season.
I dont know if "something clicked on" for Stetson Bennett, and he's about to have a Season that makes him the next Malik Willis/Matt Flynn type. Would be great for us if it did. Either way im not holding it against Simpson if it happens. No Simpson freak-outs from me til year 2, and I maintain every expectation he will be a Franchise Quarterback in this League.

not sure about all the hedging with regards to simpson....

some (not all) talking heads were rating him ABOVE mendosa before the rib issue (game 8 or 9 ?)
and predicted he would go #1 instead of mendosa...

i have seen tape breakdowns of simpson by a few nfl talking heads showing he was

looking off receiver's...
baiting corners/safeties...
throwing no look passes (where have i heard that before?)...
and puting on a show when it comes to protection breakdowns...

geeze fellow ramfans how many time do i have to say this!!!

get on the fuc&ing bus, and lets get behind this pick, because he is gonna be great!!!!

i got a keg of koolaid and i aint afraid to use it...

go rams

slo
No need to cheapen your excellent post with the "kool-aid" comment. The people that cant see pro traits are never gonna see them beforehand. They will be late to the party, of course. Good thing the adults are doing the pickin....

Do 1st round QBs really ever beat out anyone or are they simply given the job officially or unofficially via all the extra attention and opportunities provided by the coaching staff because of their draft position? Especially, those QBs selected in the top half of the 1st round.

I'm no simp, but if all things were equal I would think a veteran with three years experience in an offense would beat out most rookies on a team who didn't earn a record bad enough to garner a top half selection. If not, my questions wouldn't be in regards to the rookie, but the veteran (Bennett).

Contributed is the key word.

The problem is impact is what makes the difference in a team's success.

I was a Cooper Jr. guy, but I never thought he'd make that much of an impact as a rookie barring an injury to Adams or Puka and McVay creating packages for him. But, yes, he would contribute.

Bain is going to be a case study for the league given his historically short arms. I could never get on his bandwagon as I still believe he's better served as a 4-3 DE. That plus, when I saw a couple interviews where NFL OLineman pointed out how much easier it was to play guys with shorter arms.

But, most importantly, whenever I watched Miami I came away more impressed with Mesidor than Bain. Even on a couple of his sacks it was Mesidor who forced the QBs into his lap. Maybe I watched the wrong games, but he really didn't appear to do much during the season only to turn it on a bit during the playoffs.

Most cant, or wont, think on this level. Need their pound of flesh instead.

What I have to LOL about is all this "talk" about a WR like Lemon or someone else being a bigger need than Stafford's successor. Who did we lose at the WR position that created such a huge hole? Tutu?

Talk back in February was "we need a stud CB at #13". We got one with the #29 pick and signed another good CB in free agency.

Talk prior to the 2025 draft was "we need to draft Stafford's replacement soon", and most seemed to suggest in 2025 or 2026.

Coming into this draft we arguably had one of the top rosters in the NFL. It was the perfect opportunity to do what they did.

These guys are at the top of the NFL in talent procurement but the second guessing seems to be as prevalent as ever.

Great pick at the perfect time. Thank God we have adults to overrule the children.

Had we traded 13 for McDuffie and taken Simpson at 29, no one would say a thing. I wish we could have done that. Might have saved us a 3rd rd pick next year or at least the 5 & 6 we gave them this year. Now maybe Simpson gets poached before 29 so there is that.

The worry is if Adams or Puka goes down. Who is going to step in? When Adams went down last year, our offense suffered quite a bit.

Yes we got good TEs but is it enough?

We shall see.
