Had we traded 13 for McDuffie and taken Simpson at 29, no one would say a thing. I wish we could have done that. Might have saved us a 3rd rd pick next year or at least the 5 & 6 we gave them this year. Now maybe Simpson gets poached before 29 so there is that.
Yeah, heavily doubt Simpson is there at 29. Thats why Les did what he did.

And yet, neither is capable of QBing this team after Stafford retires.
As I have said before, I would worry about the future after we win a superbowl this year.

As some people have said, it is really hard to win a superbowl and when you have the team ready to win now, you go for it. That's just my take.

Plus, I have already stated how I feel about Simpson lasting longer than 8 games. However, I will have higher hopes that his incentive to improve his physicality will be more than 8 game Murray and his Call of Duty addiction.

Contributed is the key word.

The problem is impact is what makes the difference in a team's success.

I was a Cooper Jr. guy, but I never thought he'd make that much of an impact as a rookie barring an injury to Adams or Puka and McVay creating packages for him. But, yes, he would contribute.

Bain is going to be a case study for the league given his historically short arms. I could never get on his bandwagon as I still believe he's better served as a 4-3 DE. That plus, when I saw a couple interviews where NFL OLineman pointed out how much easier it was to play guys with shorter arms.

But, most importantly, whenever I watched Miami I came away more impressed with Mesidor than Bain. Even on a couple of his sacks it was Mesidor who forced the QBs into his lap. Maybe I watched the wrong games, but he really didn't appear to do much during the season only to turn it on a bit during the playoffs.
You might be right about Bain. However, I specifically wanted Cooper in case either Puka or Adams gets hurt.

As I said in another post in this thread, our offense suffered dramatically when Adams went down last year and was the main reason why we lost to Carolina and Atlanta. Two teams we should have easily beaten imho.

Just to emphasize, my biggest hope would be that we could find a sucker to trade down with and pick up Cooper and get another pick so we could get an ILB on one of the next 2 rounds.

When the Rams didn't trade down, I was hoping for Bain. Wouldn't be my first choice in the draft, that was others who went higher and I knew we probably wouldn't be able to draft them, but I would have been okay with Bain.

The worry is if Adams or Puka goes down. Who is going to step in? When Adams went down last year, our offense suffered quite a bit.

Yes we got good TEs but is it enough?

We shall see.
Team averaged about 32 points a game without Adams.

They scored 35 points in the game Puka missed.

The problem was the defense and special teams. That's what cost them wins.
