It will be exciting to see how/if the defense returns to form once he returns. I don’t know if we can get back to the level of the first Seattle game, but I expect improvement. Right now, it’s unsustainable.
You’re definitely on to something. Whatever was being protected and shielded from discovery in the Rams defense has been exposed. Lake returning might not be enough.

BTW, where the hell has Fiske been?

Injured, and it sure seems to be limiting his effectiveness.

He only played 13 snaps vs. Atlanta, so he is a player I would certainly rest vs. Arizona.

This like THIS, are why we now have the best organization in football.
I wonder what its going to take to sign Puka ?
As much as have liked other Rams WRs, Flipper, Ellard, Bruce , Holt ect Puka is different than all of them in very good ways.
GSOT was great and all, but all the deep ins and dives down, runs out of bounds was kind of a issue.
Not a problem with Puka, straight up gives his fucking all every time the ball comes his way. Its only year 3 and he has had too many toe taps, freakish catches to remember.
Its almost like he can force his will. None of those other guys had that. Simply clutch when it counts.

Agree. Best WR in NFL for my money.

Absolutely wild that the Rams had not given out any contract extensions to rookie contracts, on the defensive side of the ball, since Aaron Donald. AD99 was drafted over 10 years ago! I was thinking, "what about Alec Ogletree?", but he was drafted after AD99 upon review, and I am indeed struggling to think of others, so this tweet appears accurate.:explode1:
Wasn't Ogletree resigned and then traded?

Yeah, they had given him a big deal the year before I believe. I think they saw the flaws in his run defense & tackling after that Atlanta playoff loss.

A healthy ready Lake would be a great boost to the Rams defense. He’s been out a while so I’m not expecting him in playing shape until the first playoff game. IMO Ajax and Dotson would need to be back this week if SF loses and Rams have to beat the Cards for the 5th seed. Last I looked DAdams will be held out.

Rams need to keep loading up at WR. They are going to wear him out prematurely if he’s the #1 option 80% of the time. He’s too physical to continue his 100+ receptions + periodic sweeps year after year. Every WR has a different skill set but peak Nacua > peak Kupp > peak Bruce/Holt.

I agree and disagree. Since the start of the season mcvay has been much smarter w his star players on offense. Puka plays about half of the snaps he used to in his last two seasons. Thats gonna extend his football career by a mile.
By mcvay playing different personnel besides 11 puka gets a chance to take a breather and avoiding too much wear and tear.

Look at kupp. While he wasn't as physical as puka he had 7 good seasons w the rams and he was on the field virtually every down.

Right?
I kept thinking the Rams have had too much success drafting and developing Safeties to want to extend him with all of these big contracts around the corner.

…and then the defense began to suck.

Wise move to do before he hit the market.
On the flip side, the Rams had 6 DBs pending free agency. There was no way they'd be able to replace that many bodies in the draft, so it was clear they needed to resign at least one, maybe two.

It's a possibility they still resign Durant or McCreary.

That over use was a lot less when Devante and Stafford started gelling. I do think that was the intention with Devante.

I am really wondering what they think of McCreary. I hope he plays a lot on Sunday to hopefully get him in the lineup for the playoffs. Might need him to deal with AJ Brown and or Devante Smith.

Kupp was a machine.

No wr in the history of the nfl has had a better season than him in 2021. Think about that.

During the playoffs in 21 every person in the stadium knew the ball was going to Kupp and the defense couldn't stop him.

When puka can do that he'll overtake Kupp.

Not so sure why some here are high on him... he has yet to make a single play for us that I can recall. All I remember is him getting hurt right away... and in our last game, running after Bijan on his 93-yard TD.

McCreary has declined every successive year in games started for the Titans: from 17 to 11 to 7 to 3.

To my eye, Rams picked him up for insurance against injury, but so far he hasn't shown a single thing (yet) to prove interest in re-signing him. Hope I'm wrong and he shows out, but I'm still waiting.

McCreary? I haven’t seen him do anything yet. I would go with Durant.

I LOOOVE this signing. He's the captain of the secondary, and him being out is a big reason our D has slid so hard the last few games. Didn't realize he was set to hit F/A in March, yikes... great move to lock him up & boost morale as we head into the playoffs.

Again, he has only play 12 snaps for the Rams.
Was it McCreary chasing down Bijan Robinson on Monday? I only saw the highlight but whoever it was looked quick albeit they never caught him.
