It makes sense that he likes him. Kid deals the ball quickly and accurately with plenty of arm.

Strategically we know Cam is out. He's the QB1 so he'll be off the board too high for us.

After that though I think there's a ton of team misdirection and BS. They have allowed the media to run with the Sanders storyline for so long it's taken as gospel, but watch his film and you don't see a QB pushing the envelope and throwing with anticipation and he's not a dude with a strong arm. So how does Sanders stack with the rest of these boys given that he's a project and underneath specialist. That's the question with him and it's why I think he's gonna slide. But boy do I hope someone takes him because I don't want us to.

Projects as I see them are Sanders, Dart, and Milroe. All three are best served with a redshirt year and get that with the Rams. Dart like Sanders will need time to learn a real offense. Milroe needs a ton of rounding out too unless you plan on running a college attack which I don't see McVay doing. But all three get a redshirt with McVay so I'd say all are potentially in play just a question of when the Rams think they have value in this grouping.

Shough and McCord look quite polished on their film. Getting through reads and distributing the ball and probably start sooner than the project dudes.

After they go off I think it's QB2 time. So I'd imagine the Rams try to position for one of the above. Does Shough get out of round 2? I seriously doubt that. Same with McCord. Which means why not take the one you like late first round and get the 5th year of team control.

Back to the projects they will come down to team projections. Some of us like Dart. Some of us like someone else and others think they're all shit. But I'll just say that teams aren't gonna tell these media asswipes who they love when it comes to QBs. Shit is too important to tip that info.
You are correct, going to be interesting to find out the actual pecking order of QBs vs what the media is stating. Totally makes sense to put lies and misdirection out there in an attempt to get guys to drop that teams truly like. As they say, it's lying season lol

To me, it's Dart (although I think he'll go highly), McCord (second round), Howard (third round) or none at all, but I could justify some others. Milroe's got amazing athleticism, but I worry about his play as a quarterback. Ward's going number one overall, so we're not counting him. Ewers has the raw talent, but panics way too often and his mechanics go to shit. Rourke is interesting, but I don't think he has the arm for anything more than a backup position.

Sanders, Leonard, and Shough are on my do-not-draft-at-all list. Sanders for his shit attitude and his dad, Leonard for his utter scattershot accuracy, and Shough for his very serious injury concerns (all those injuries to his collarbone is VERY concerning, as well as a broken fibula. He's only played forty-two games in seven college seasons, and if the Rams don't think that's fucking serious concerns...well, you know the saying, lie with dogs, wake with fleas, right?). There's too much concern with those three.

I will say that K.J. Jefferson (Central Florida) could be an interesting UDFA. He has the athletic traits and arm to succeed, in my honest opinion. He was the only reason Arkansas was worth watching in 2023 and when he got hurt, they fell apart.

Yes. My point exactly. The Rams may like a QB and because they did well in free agency, (and already had a good team) picking a QB at 26 in round 1 wouldn’t be a shock to me. If this is their real plan I doubt they are telling anyone that they like a certain QB, and if they are doing so, then it’s likely not to be the QB they actually want. There is too much risk of teams trading ahead of them. Plus, if McVay wants a certain QB it will get other teams attention.

I think the QB they like would be Rourke or McCord, not Sanders, Dart, or Shough. Shough’s injuries are concerning, Sanders doesn’t seem to fit the mental/emotional mold, and lacks the arm, and Dart has potential but also has a low floor. Some team is likely to take Dart on potential alone, before pick 26.

In the past McVay has fallen in love with a prospect. He was right about Bowers, but wrong about Kincaid. I’d say his desire for a small speedy receiver clouded his judgement when picking Tutu. Hopefully, he’s correct if he pushes for one of these QBs. We all saw how demanding and frustrated he was with Goff. Whomever ends up being Stafford’s study will be held to a very high standard.

Yet he's clearly a good quarterback.

Which amply demonstrates how a lot of this pre-draft appraisal and valuation process is a load of nonsense.
Don’t quote me on this, but I believe Paxton Lynch was more highly thought of than Nix.

I could be wrong, but it goes to show the evaluation process isn’t perfect.

I imagine he loves Rourke but two injuries to the same knee is just really bad for projecting him. Whereas with Shough the injuries don't worry me all that much due to what they are. He may have bird bones or some shit, but could also just be bad luck and collar bones are easily broken if they don't fully heal.

My problem with Shough is he's a bit bland. I like my QBs to have a cocky streak, and the more competitive the better. But I can't deny he's making the throws and running that offense well on film.

I'm guessing that Pittsburgh starts a mini run on these guys who should be round 2-3 types. Might be that only Cam goes early and then that run starts in the 20s. Or maybe teams aren't as concerned as I think with that 5th year option and wait for round 2. Only thing I hope does not happen is Dart going early. But if it goes that way then it does improve our chances of other teams maybe reaching for a QB and players being pushed down.

Really looking forward to this draft though. It's going to be fun, just wish we were picking a little bit earlier.

I know that it's tough to pin an opinion on a QB after just 1 game but man, what I saw of Rourke against ND in the 1st round of the playoff? He's a big no for me. Deer caught in headlights, throwing balls up for grabs, no composure at all. Meanwhile, Shough against the Irish was the opposite. Faced a crap ton of pressure, got hit a bunch and made plays that made my head spin.

Fair take but I like so much of Rourke's film that I don't fault him too much for failing vs a fantastic defense.

But Shough definitely showed some things and that wasn't the only game. Dude can play.

I like Shough a whole lot, became a big fan/follower of him after that game. Throws from all sorts of angles. I of course would get behind Rourke if they drafted him but he's way down the list for me. Of course that's why I'm no professional just a rando poster on the best Rams website on the planet

Curious if they'd be willing to deal Levis for a bag of peanuts. But I am sure the Rams know the details on him given McVay having a strong connection with their HC. So if we haven't made inquiries on him to this point it means he's a retard.

Still surprised that Levis ended up being a Wentz hero baller. If a coach could get him to stop doing that shit he still has some very strong tools for the job.

Yep he made several side arm completions this year that reminded me of a certain somebody. There's a thread about him on the Louisville message board and several people posted I would love for him to go to the Rams it would be a perfect fit.
