thats like a 50 million dollar buy out

I'm a little surprised considering how long James Franklin has been there

4-21 vs Top 10 teams
1-18 vs Big 10 AP top 10 teams
2 losses in a row favored by 20 points

Too little too late though one bonus is they finish out the season without him and his bad QB.

@Elmgrovegnome is a big Penn State backer, interested in his take. IMO, Matt Campbell is the hire here. Winning at Iowa State is rough and Campbell has done it, year in and year out, plus, he will represent the University in the manner that Franklin represented them, with class and honor.

Some will want more of a splash hire, but some splash hires create waves, Campbell played at Pittsburgh, understands the landscape and IMO, would be a home run hire for the Nittany Lions.

I feel like Elm hasn’t been around the past week or two. I’m sure he’s bummed about PSU — but I think he was well aware that you can’t trust Franklin & Allar. He might even be happy Franklin is gone now.

Watch out Nebraska, Matt Rhule not ruling out a move to Happy Valley
They need to aim higher then Rhule IMO, his record against ranked teams 2-22 won't exactly energize the base, however, Marcus Freeman will not be leaving Notre Dame for Penn State IMO. Notre Dame is a better gig. Freeman's next move is to the NFL or his alma mater.

I dont see Freeman leaving but Penn State can pay him double what he's making at ND
I saw Brian Kelly's name being floated out there too. I could see that, he's outlived his shelf life at LSU and may look for a soft landing elsewhere.
Ultimately it's gonna be Rhule, checks all the boxes, has a relationship with the program. Record against ranked teams is meaningless, since he took over 3 shit programs and them back on the map in a season or two
