Also, they tend to focus on seniors and juniors.
Unless something has changed, that's the only draft eligible players.

Actually, correction, there are a very select few 3rd year redshirt sophomores that are in this draft. They just are all QB's typically. And high end ones at that. 3 to be exact; Stroud, Richardson, and McKee (so there is an except to high end).

So, in the end 98% of the prospects are Seniors and Juniors, which is good that the Rams focus on those :laugh2:

I meant players that have started those years, sorry

Add CB Christian Gonzalez to that list ...

In case some of y'all don't have an Athletic sub, Jourdan released her 7 round mock this morning:

2-36: traded to DET for 48, 81
2-48: traded to CHI for 53, 133
2-53: Cam Smith, CB S. Carolina
3-69: Adebawore, DL NW
3-77: D.Hall, Edge Auburn
3-81: Tucker Kraft, TE S.Dakota St
4-133: G.Williams, CB Syracuse
5-171: Alex Forsyth, IOL Oregon
5-177: Clayton Tune, QB Houston
6-182: Keaton Mitchell, RB East Carolina
6-189: Baringer, P Mich St
6-191: Andre Carter, Edge Army
7-223: Anthony Johnson, S Iowa St.
7-234: Justin Shorter, WR Florida

This draft makes me tumescent. Absolutely LOVE the top 5 picks. And Tune and Carter later are cherries on top.

What y'all think?

That's a solid draft. I'd go a different route at RB and CB in rounds 4 & 6 and also wouldn't waste a round 6 pick on a punter, just use UDFA for that position and if you're gonna draft a ST type then go kicker. But that's nitpicking.

Who is your CB prospect in the late 4th that has more value then Garrett Williams? I honestly couldn't find one. I think Williams healthy would have been talked about in the 1st or 2nd round personally.

Well who knows who's there on the board at that point. But Trice should be in that neighborhood and the Rams interviewed him. I mean by the 4th round you have guys with more holes in their game, more questions and projections. Just not a fan of that particular prospect.

Yeah I like Trice too although I'm a bit worried about him in our scheme. If I recall, he's very effective in press heavy schemes without the blazing catch up speed. Unless Morris changes our scheme to account for our drastically different roster, I'm not sure he's great for our cushion D. Williams is about the opposite. Didn't play press, which is a negative too. But yeah, all the guys in 4th and beyond have warts.

Flatlyner,
Alright smart aleck I had to go and look up the word "tumescent." See we are always learning new stuff on ROD.
(I might try this word on the wife, I'll let you know how it goes...)

That Jourdan draft would be an A+ in my book but I think working off the media rankings means she's drafting Kraft and AA way too late. Kraft won't get out of the 2nd round and AA probably is going late 1st/early 2nd.

Love the trades and the first eight picks. Not sure about the punter, and believe Carter and Johnson will be gone 1-2 rounds earlier.

Yeah, I don't disagree, but anything is possible. I've seen Adebawore/Kraft more then once projected into the 3rd round. I think they are probably 2nd round picks myself, but who knows at this point. I'd just simply love this draft.

Yeah, it just seems like some people with more contacts in FA seem much higher on Kraft (than say Washington* at TE FWIW. With AA, you're projecting a bit of what he'll be able to do at the next level as he develops, depending on what you see in that projection, really seems like late 1st or 2nd rounder.

*What is Washington, btw? He's a great blocking tight end in space, above average already on the line but actually not devastating there. He'll never run a full route tree (though not many TE's can) at that size. I would not be shocked to see him go later than people expect. He's a weapon but not an every down weapon so I don't know that I see him as a guy you take in the 1st or even top of 2nd. I think those are guys who are a pass catching mismatch every play and have an ability to block on top of it.

Yeah, I don't see Washington in the top 40 personally. I'd love to have him in the 3rd however. If we start going back to the 12 man offense, he would be a huge boost for our running game and a matchup nightmare for most guys trying to guard him.

I agree that Washington could slide due to some pass route/catching limitations. 45-70 pick range.

Then again, it only takes one team to think he can develop that (or he wasn’t used by GA that way due to the other TE) and take him very early like 20-33

You gotta have a plan for a player like that if you take him before day 3 (see exactly what he is and isn't, how and where you'll use him).

That did not happen with Tutu, IMO.

WalterFootballs Charlie Campbell (who apparently had the most accurate mock last year, thought I thought it was Josh Norris) updated mock from today:
Campbells Mock

Rams:
2-36 : Dawand Jones, OT Ohio state. Not big on this because McDonald goes next, Torrence, Adebawore, FAU all go after.
3-69 : Kenny McIntosh, RB Georgia. Hate. A huge reach here
3-77 : Mauch, G N.Dakota St. Can't argue with this pick.

Outside of 5-177: Riley Moss, CB Iowa I'm not big on the rest of this draft. Or the start for that matter. That means it has a solid chance of happening.

2-36 No because of better options.
3-69 Hell No. pitchforks and torches if this. happens.
3-77 Hell Yes. Mauch appears to be a versatile dog that would be a steal at this pick.
