The Cowboys weren't going anywhere with Parsons. They save a boatload of money and can rebuild with multiple first-round draft picks. Had they made Parsons available before the draft, they would have gotten more in return.
Agreed, the idea of trading Parsons isn't a terrible one for a properly ran organization. But the timing and everything about it was done horribly so they got less than they should have. Plus, Jerry will just F up the picks anyway.

The follow up (IMO) is what do they do with those extra picks? That's what will help or hurt Dallas over the next two years.

I kinda feels like Jerra is saying hold my beer to the owners of the Browns and Saints. He might just want that Manning boy playing in Texas.
Maybe.

Quick look at Prescott's contract suggests it would be very difficult for Dallas to move-on until 2028.

Also, the Packers' picks should be late-round-1 ... similar to the Rams. That could make it difficult for either team to move-up into the top-5 for an elite-QB-prospect.

In the case of the Rams, they would need Atlanta to be really bad in 2025. Hope so!
In the case of Dallas, THEY would need to be really bad. Don't think their fans hope for that.

I think Edge players are the most impactful defensive players; and, while I think there are a couple Edge players comparable to Parsons, they are all 3-5 years older.

When you factor in age, I view Micah Parsons as the most impactful defensive player in the NFL; and I don't think this was nearly enough trade-return-value for him.

I just watched Jerry Jones' press conference; and found it embarrassing.

In my opinion, he was rambling. He was all-over-the-place, trying to justify what was a botched negotiation for an elite player that led to a trade that was far-below (also my opinion) market-value.

He came across as an old man, with a huge ego, who was unprepared and ill-equipped to make his case.
By-the-way, Jones referred to Parsons as 'Michael' on 4 or 5 different occasions in the press conference.

However, that is NOT why I think Jones gave an awful account of himself and his thought process.
Age catches-up with everyone; and I think it caught-up and passed-by Jerry Jones ... but ... before it ran-by him, Age knocked Jerry down and kicked him a few times.

Careful people with disagree with you.

I agree with you. The Packers Picks along with their own should be used to strengthen that O-Line. That was their strength when they fielded a decent team for a few years.

Jurry gunning for Arch. A healthy Prescott and Parsons didn't move the needle. Smart move. Why tread water when you can put yourself in position to take your next franchise QB.

According to Snead we've used like 5 draft picks to replace AD. I'd rather have one generational gamebreaking player like AD or Parsons then 4-5 medicore players.

For $40 mil., you're not getting 4 above average players, you're getting getting 4 or 5 players like Michael Hoecht or Samsun Ebukam.
Hoecht got 10M a year?

Packer's fleeced Dallas for a 1st ballot Hall of Famer if he doesn't sustain some career ending injury.

Our path to the Superbowl got a ton harder. SMH

Speaking of rebuilding with multiple 1st rounders... how has that worked historically for the Seattle with Wilson, Texans with Watson, the Raiders with Mack, the JAGUARS WITH RAMSEY, the Jets with Jamal Adams, the Broncos with Jay Cutler (okay Cutler sucked)... jesus I could go on!!

Sure there was Detroit but that's one time it worked out in the last decade plus!

Imma call Adult Protective Services on the Packers for financial abusing an elderly man!!

Question: Why would a middling team like Dallas pay $47m/year to one disgruntled player.
Answer: They won’t because they are years away from being relevant again.

Never liked or agreed with Jerry Jones. Just looking at the FACTS at where the Cowboys are. Parsons and his $47m/ year price tag won’t help them out of the hole they are in. Did Dak and his overpriced contract help them?

Jerry has been a problem owner and worse these last few years and I won't sneeze at anyone arguing that the teams screwed with him at the helm but Parsons is a generational talent, you build around him no matter what state your franchise is in.

I think you really overrate what can be done with that money and most likely the draft picks and Clark.

Over the last 2 seasons Micah Parsons ranks: 1st in pressure rate, 1st in pass rush win rate, 1st in double team rate.

You don't build a roster for short *or* long term success by moving on from players like that.

Let's not confuse facts and feelings here.

jerry is an idiot - but trading parsons isn't a dumb move at all.

Dallas needs some rebuilding and have to have picks and free money to do that.

Its certainly TBD - but I don't see how you can pay dak, Lamb and Parsons massive contracts when it's been going nowhere.

Had to try to shake things up.

You are entitled to your opinion but I’m confident in saying your facts are feelings. You feel Parsons is worth $47m /year for a middling team.
Facts: $47m/year for Parsons is a fact. $60m/year for Prescott is a fact. The Cowboys being a middling team is a fact.

Always take the proven star over the draft picks. Its guaranteed success. Draft picks aren't. This is a great move for Green Bay.

I like the varying opinions on this trade in regards to the Cowboys.. There are good points on both sides of the argument. However, you need some cornerstone type players to build a team around. Parsons is that type of player. I think Jerry should have paid him two years ago. He screwed up and now he's in a pickle. I don't blame him for making the trade now. I blame him for bungling this whole situation for the last few years. Jones is a lousy GM wannabe. He will tank for the first pick. He will pick Manning and waste his talents on poorly constructed teams.
