I wonder if they gave Evans competition as holder this week too of if they just shook up snapper and kicker. Will we see new guys along the line? New schemes and splits in protection? I assume McV is taking a holistic approach to figuring this sumbitch out.

I guarantee we are going to have more blocked kicks. The line is not doing their job on "special" teams.
If I was Karty I'd ask to be released from this shit show. Go somewhere else that has a clue about what they are doing.
If Mevis does actually succeed here in the short term, it's because Blackburn hasn't ruined him yet.

Karty "waiting" contributed to those misses. How many times have we seen a made kick just getting by a defender coming in from the side. Karty gave them time to get there.

Ya

And the fact some of his kicks were so low Spud Webb could have jumped in the air from the line of scrimmage and blocked some of those kicks.

Tell me about the last FG miss where #72 kinda just put his arm up half heartedly and the defender had a clean run at the ball.
It all adds up to.....................misses.
Rams got to get this straightened out and quick. We are going to the playoffs and I do not want to see McVay going for it when we should just kick a FG.

I remember years ago there being a video that detailed the Rams special team and Johnny Hekker talked about how perfect McQuaide was at snaps in that he had it down so tight that the ball always hit his hand the exact way it needed to be to get down with laces out every time without him having to correct. If Ward was snapping the ball with no control over that and Evans was constantly having to spin and figure out where the laces were that could have effected the whole operation. Idk, just a theory.

I used to feel that way too, but now that McVay slowed down his brain enough to finally realize he has four TE's he can now throw to on short yardage and be successful on 3rd and 4th downs and short yardage..... I cautiously feel more optimistic.

Surprised, not surprised. Obviously the rams watched a lot of tape and concluded Karty was the main reason we're having problems in the FG/XP teams. A couple of members also noticed that Karty isn't starting his approach until the holder has it on the ground. If you look at all the other NFL kickers you'd see they start their approach as the ball hits the holders hands. That half a second makes all the difference. We'll see...

Well, Spud Webb may not be the best example here. He could jump high enough to slam dunk!

Ray Wershing was the Niner's placekicker in the 80's and was instrumental in a couple of Super Bowl wins for them. He was a chunky 215 pounds, about what @Merlin weighs...
Yeah I have to run 4x a week to ensure I don't get fat. Either that or starvation and I'm very unpleasant company when hungry. :laugh2:
