I thought some of the missed throws were due to pressure. Unlike, Darnold, who held on to the ball too long only to throw off his back foot, losing velocity and accuracy … resulting in four difference-making interceptions, Stafford got the ball out … avoiding sacks, hits and, most importantly, turnovers.

Also thought some of the drops were on throws that were a little off because of the above referenced pressure and Stafford getting the ball out early.

As for Nacua’s fumble, it looked like he had the ball tucked high and tight … exactly where it should be … but Cobie Bryant made a perfectly executed Peanut Punch.

I thought one of the best defenses in the NFL … the Seahawks … was very impressive.
Agree completely. That D-line of the Seahawks pressured Stafford every time he tried to throw which threw off everything... timing, accuracy, and placement. The seahags might not have the best defense in the NFL but they played like it on Sunday.

This is why you need a defense in the playoffs. Because at some point you're gonna run into one that shuts down your offense. And when that happens if yours is bad you will be going home.

Right now the Rams are tied for 2nd with 3-4 other teams in the takeaway category, behind da Bearsss.
I like that stat mostly because of how it can change the mojo of a game, and increases the defenses chances of taking a pick or a fumble recovery to the house.
It also could give the offense excellent field position or stop the enemy from a potential score.

Yes turnovers are the best metric in terms of impact on a given game. Nothing else is as strong in terms of wins and losses.

I like to use them in conjunction with the rest of the metrics to get a feel for what the defense is. For example if you look at the Seahawks game the turnovers were largely influenced by pressure. This aligns with what we have been talking about with our secondary. Pressure and INTs go hand-in-hand and the Rams have an excellent pressure front as well as intelligent safeties who are playing well within the calls, so there's no reason to think this is an aberration.

Same goes for the fumbles. Landman has brought that peanut punch to the linebacker corps and we are seeing an effect with it. But it's not just luck, as the Rams have been very strong against the run overall and RBs are stood up immediately on most runs, which supports the ILBs and DBs attacking the ball before the whistle blows. Landman is even more dangerous lining that punch up when someone else has the ball carrier stuffed.

Another metric I'm a big fan of is passing rating against. It is very efficient as a look at the health of your pass defense. And in that regard the Rams are currently rated 83.4 (5th). And interestingly last year they were at 94.5 (19th). Combine that with pressure rates and yards per pass attempt (which usually are aligned in what they say) and it's an accurate way of seeing what you have.

Even though we are aware of the flaws in our corners, fact is they've been getting the job done.

I can eat a whole bag of Taco flavored Doritos in 45 minutes, but Taco Bell has to be the worst fast food Mexican place ever. :sick2: If I gotta do fast food Mexican, I roll to Del Taco.
Agreed. Taco Bell used to have flavor. Now it’s just bland crap. I go to Del Taco every now and then. Their taco meat is what Taco Bell used to taste like. They also have a green been burrito like Taco Bell used to. That makes my wife happy. And you know what they say about a happy wife. ;)

Too much talk about seattle this morning. I get that their defense was good, but ours was better damn
I've been saying the same thing. I can't remember another team getting their ass whipped the way the Rams D whipped Seattle's ass and come out with people talking about "and yet they almost won the game". FACT: They didn't win the fucking game. They lost!!! Ugly.

Or with Simms & Florio sayng, "Seattle was the better team on the field. I'm not saying they're the better team though". WTF is that? If they looked like the better team on the field it was because our defense was the only part of our team that spent much time on the field!!! And still, they couldn't beat the Rams!!!! Our offense only showed up when we needed a few points!!!

Oh that Thursday Night Game is gonna be something. Newsflash!!! The game this past Sunday was something. The Rams D smacked Darnold & the Seattle offense around, taking their lunch money 4 times (almost 5). McDonald indicated they only needed three more yards! Yeah, well you got 414 fucking yards and all you could do it put up 19 points. The Rams offense scored Touchdowns, not Field Goals.

Just remember, McVay is gonna watch the game film too. He'll have a little sumpin sumpin for you on that Thursday.

There was a Green Burrito joint in La Puente many moons ago and if we won our football game we went there, if we lost it was Ivan Pizza so the coaches could get drunk and drown the loss away.

Wow so the uncalled blatant helmet-to-helmet resulted in a concussion for Xavier Smith?:angry4:
And the mf’er who caused ought to have to sit until Smith is cleared to play again. Blatant helmet to helmet blow that should have resulted in a flag and a fine.

I only went to Del Taco if I was drunk at 2 AM.

Of course, this was back in the early 80s when I was in college.

That wasn't that bad of a hit but it doesn't take much.... I had about six confirmed ones (4 in college) and I'm sure there were some I didn't know about. We were always told to stay in a dark room for two days, get rest and don't take any aspirin.... seemed to work.

so that explains it!!!
