The Packers have had back to back HOF QBs.
They have had HOF QB play from 1992-2022....30 Fing years in a row.
I enjoy your posts here but I think you and probably most Packer fans have forgotten what it is like having a below average QB......for year and year.
I wouldn't go chasing Rodgers out of town.
And in those 30 yrs they have 2 rings... hilarious.

A lot has to go right, including luck, to win a ring in most cases.
Look at the Chargers...Brees, Rivers and now the new kid.
They are a team that could always self sabotage like no other.

The only thing that could make me feel this pessimistic would revolve around the health status of both Noteboom & Jackson. Should the Rams require the services of yet another starting LT, then a weak & needy position elsewhere will be neglected. I won't concede defeat at LT until better informed by the team.
As for the remainder of our OL, unless the above becomes an issue, I see this unit going forward in pretty good fashion with no need for a 're-build'. Needing a new starting LG to replace Edwards is obvious enough, but Allen/Shelton can adequately hold us down at Center, ... Bruss is our likely future starter at RG & Anchrum/Brewer/Shelton can back-up at both OG positions. RT is settled with Havenstein and Arcuri/Pircher can battle for the back-up role. There's a good chance that both Aboushi & Skura will return to the Practice Squad, and with possibly 10 2023 draft picks to look forward to, you can expect at least a couple of new names being added to the OL scrum. jmo.

This should be 3 times in. Row The Rams have the same starting lineup up front.

Let’s see what happens & if any changes are made ?

Spanos holding out (contract)Gates hurt. Having a bad kicker late eliminated them to the Jets 2 years in a row.

I remember the Chargers WR (Boston maybe?) putting the ball down after making a catch for a first down that would have all but sealed a playoff win (can't remember if it was the AFC Title Game or not) over New England at home. He caught the ball and went down, but, was never touched. Before he was ruled giving himself up and ending the play, he just put the ball down on the ground and walked away. The whistle never blew and the ball was live. Patriots jumped on it and went on to win.
I lived in San Diego when I was going to college and would go to Charger Ram scrimmages every pre season. The Chargers practiced at U San Diego and the Rams would scrimmage them every year there. You could just walk on the field where they were practicing. They put up cones and tape to mark where you could stand. But, it was seriously within 20 feet of the action for the OL DL and OL + RB vs DL drills. Awesome stuff.
Also worked at a deli that was close to Jack Murphy Stadium and ofter had Charger and Padre players come in.
I enjoyed those Charger teams (always a Ram fan though, make no mistake) and had some cool experiences with that stuff, but man, that team is snake bit.

The prob this past offseason was Aaron's greed. He just had to get paid big and that led to lesser pieces around him which hurt the team.

Fans don't like to hear that when it's a player they love. But it affects the quality of the roster and sometimes if you're near that edge in terms of player quality it can lead to a dropoff.

We all love AD for example. But if they hadn't had to redo his deal what could they have done instead. No way to know but it's an interesting thought experiment. Note I'm not saying he was the difference that caused dropoff but truth is this roster was stretched thin already.

I never embraced Orlando Pace because he held the Rams hostage so many times getting top dollar or forcing a franchise tag. Really hamstrung them cap wise when their window was still open.

And this is why I've posted about a single personal players income that can't exceed 10% of the entire team CAP.

Fearsome, that’s good stuff. Don’t know the years of when that was. I was always close with The Rams in that sense of teams practice & training camps over the years.
The Ohio St., Boston was a good WR. It’s amazing how lucky NE got over the years.

BubbaRam will tell you he likes his beers at training camp.

When The Rams went to St. Louis my mom became a Chargers fan. They’ve always been the stepchild.

Ram OL does NOT need to be rebuilt from ground up.

No way of controlling the injury issues of the OL during the season, but ensuring you go into the season with a large healthy OL unit really helps.
The only solid player on the Rams O-line is Havenstein. You just cannot trust Noteboom or Allen to stay healthy although they may have to gamble on it. I can see sliding Shelton over to center if Allen gets hurt, but then you open up a guard spot to a second stringer. Anchrum has spent most of his time on IR. Edwards is probably gone. Is Alaric Jackson coming back? The rookie Bruss did not even look good in camp... who knows about him.

When I said the O-line needs to be rebuilt I meant over time. They will have to piecemeal the unit over the next year or two before they have any hope of building a long-term, cohesive unit with 4 or 5 guys that might stay together for a while. Up until mid-season last year, that is mostly what they had since Big Whit got here. Weak links get targeted, like Belecheat did to Sullivan and Blythe in the super bowl. I say spend the money/draft picks on the O-line first and foremost.

Tell me who is going to play RB next season? I actually like the way Mcvay handled Cam Akers last Thursday Night.
I guess you didn’t watch the game? Havienstien looked like the worst of the bunch. Straight one on one.He better go look at film & figure out again. He is the Veteran who is leading example for the younger Lineman

Since you were watching the game, could you remind us of the name of the Edge-rusher that was beating Havenstein 1-on-1 in the pass-rush.

Bill (jello-pudding) Matters

Does it matter? You still have to block. I guess the ref’s can’t call everyone. The Rams won because the Ref didn’t make one of the most obvious Hold Calls ever.

I know AD99 doesn’t draw all them a few times a game for sure. You want to hand out excuse you can.

Noteboom was lined up against Bosa twice when getting hurt & held up better than Big Rob & Jones wasn’t easy for Ty N.

So having Havienstien having that game tape might actually help the younger players. I know Whitworth was showing both those guys how to drop back & keep your balance.

Hav has had trouble with that for sometime though. He has a hard time kicking out off the edge. The Rams don’t have a Johnny Mundt basically the last 2 years. Akers can’t pass block. There are a lot of little issues.

If we are talking about The future it is going to be mostly in house fix’s & learning together.Just saying anyone who thinks it is this and that needs to slow down & watch the next 4 games when The Rams have a healthy squad at the least.

You are correct. We have been in agreement with this position.

The position most here in ROD feels comfortable is where the often injured OL'ers become instantly healed along with magically changing & morphing into a block of granite to be ready in 2023 TC. They just take the far positive side of this OL issue because it's much easier for future discussions & puts them in move-on mode.

I fall on the opposite side of this OL discussion- pessimistic. It's not the warm feel-good side :hug:but I am permitted. If I were to take a positive outlook :party:I might look at this below-projected lineup for Rams OL in 2023 TC.

LT- Noteboom/ Nsekhe/ Thomas
LG-Jackson/ Brewer/ Skura
OC-Allen/ Shelton/ Kolone
RG-Anchrum/ Bruss/ Aboushi
RT-Havenstein/ Arcuri/ Pircher

The Above positive projected 2023 OL has 7 UFA's resigned from the 2022 OL Ram unit. It also contains 5 who suffered season ending injuries too. None will have any effect on the Compensatory Awarded Draft Selections for the 2023 Draft. This is what I would suggest Snead to do, along with adding draft picks into the OC/LT/LG positions. It's all affordable with little salary cap funds.

Say as you will Bonify’d. Pick yourself out of the JUNK YARD.
IMO it would be DUMB to reach for a ROOKIE in 2023. Look at Bruss.
Whitworth was one of The Best FA signings The Rams have ever had.Say as you will, but David Edwards being resigned would be like The Rams resigning Noteboom,Allen & Shelton.
The offense line should have been addressed the last couple season because of the 5(6) FA players. I don’t know, but I’m not drinking the Kool-aide right now. Just going through trying to salvage what is left.

You know best if Bobby Evans was still on the 2022 roster The Rams would be in trouble & have CRAP depth.

I would not bring back Evans, Aboushi, Kolone or Edwards.
Shelton has RG sewn up one would assume.
Brewer, Toner, Bruss, Anchrum, Thomas to battle for the LG spot. As I said, Id add a FA (maybe) and certainly a draft pick. Depending on how it goes Aboushi could be brought back to the PS.
Skura Im resigning as back up depth across the interior but in particular back up C.
Lets say a FA is signed to play LG.
FA at LG, Shelton at RG. Backups at G being Bruss and Anchrum.
Allen and Skura at C.
By keeping Skura you have a solid vet depth guy with a lot of experience that can play all three interior spots. Most importably C. This really gives the Rams three deep at C with Shelton able to slide over if Allen gets hurt again....however the coaches best decide to cover the position.
The best of Brewer, Toner, Thomas and a draft pick head to the PS. Maybe you keep two interior guys, maybe three. Or maybe the draft pick does well and replaces an Anchrum at back up G on the 53.
You see what Im saying.....time to move on from Evans, Kolone and Edwards in my humble opinion.
The back end competition should be fierce this offseason with the Rams looking under rocks for talent. A guy like Leatherwood, much maligned and run out of Vegas after a year or two....still, guy was rated at a first round talent by most. I saw a handful of his games....solid in some situations and bad in others. Really up and down. I don't know how that works in terms of being a first round pick that is still under his first deal money wise. Really an ideal guy to stash and try to develop on the PS if the money isn't big. If he starts to develop his well of athletic ability he can be moved off the PS to protect him.
Necessity has caused the Rams to bring in guys (Aboushi, Skura, Toner, Ty) with starting experience in the league. I think this is a very valuable thing. Kolone, Anchrum and Jackson were all green as could be. They were thrown to the wolves really.
Agreed.

The only reason I can see any reason to resign UFA David Edwards is:

a). If DE will sign for an economy 2yr contract. If DE wants more ....bye & good luck. He may want to be given a chance to start @ RT in the NFL.

b). If Coach Carberry determines DE has the ability to be a reserve emergency LT & a reserve LG/RT.

DE has started @ LT for Carberry in 2021 season. So the issues @ LT are serious enough to consider this. DE did start for 3 winning seasons for this team. He is not a strong starting prospect for LG post.

Rams could just take the shotgun approach on aiming for the 2023 OL'er unit. The entire unit is one big question with the exception of the RT cadre. With the pending 4 Compensatory Draft Pick Awards for 2023, it may be the best way to approach this offseason in this OL.

Carberry has a mess on his hands & must find healthy OL'ers to go into the new season. He has had an opportunity to coach an extra large amount of OL'ers coming in & out of the roster. IMO he made some mistakes. His future OL needs to work heavily on the improvement of its run-blocking & finding OL'ers who can make that happen!

Akers, Williams, and two 6th-round draft choices. Maybe pick up a cheap free agent. Let's face it... even Todd Gurley would have trouble running behind this O-line. Remember 2016 and him getting hit constantly behind the line of scrimmage? That's what the current Ram running backs have been dealing with the past 2 seasons. Thank God Big Whit was there to keep Stafford clean last year or they would not have had the success the did.

Does it matter? You still have to block.
Given who the player was, YES, it does matter.

When you disagreed with RamDino, you suggested he didn’t watch the game.

I was wondering if you noticed the player that was beating Havenstein 1-on-1 on passing downs.
