They dont need his approval to trade him. Fact.
Talk about ignorant
Yeah, but the team trading for him will want to talk to him so they know he wants to be there. So yes, he has say.

Yeah, some teams do, some don't. It doesn't seem very Rams-likey to go after him for that but if things got contentious, who knows.
Again, just adding to the point that in his position, the threat of retirement is not a viable form of leverage

Pick one: Spark. Fight. Winning. 2nd tier QB at much cheaper rate.
And please note I much prefer keeping Stafford for 2 more years and Rams being an NFC contender in 2025.
Having Mayfield was fun for what it was but I think his work with the Bucs with two good coordinators shows that what McVay did with him wasn't quite special in itself. Mayfield is a good but limited QB who got screwed by Cleveland while injured and went to siberia for half a year in Carolina.

McVay is a great coach but saying McVay did some great job with what was already a good QB is stretching it a bit much.

Stafford and his family love it here and Stafford desperately wants another shot at a Ring to cement his legacy with a great organization.

McVay has a huge man-crush on Stafford and knows they have all the resources and pieces in place for a legit SB run in 2025.

So no, neither side is gonna be stupid enough to ruin a great thing.

Will both sides posture a bit? Will Rams say, "well he's getting old and we can't pay the moon and we gotta think of the future?" Will Stafford's agent say "he deserves to be compensated for his worth and maybe we'd consider going where he's better appreciated?" Yeah. But it's all BS, and transparently weak BS at that.

Stafford and the Rams both have HUGE incentives to set up a legit SB run next season. Neither side is stupid enough to blow it up.

Bank on it, Stafford ain't leaving.

Colin Cowherd is "proposing" that Rams "could" trade MS to the NYG for the 3rd overall pick, then move down to stockpile picks to get a franchise QB in 2026. Colin says Rams then would want a "bridge" QB in 2025.... possibly Aaron Rodgers.

I usually like Colin's takes, but I think he's full of shit on this one. I say MS is a lock to stay, both sides really want to make it work.

I assume McVay wants Stafford to be his QB. However, he also is smart enough to look at the NFL landscape and see that all 4 QBs in the conference finals this year were mobile QBs that can take off and run to keep a drive alive. Mahomes being the least aggressive runner and who led the least explosive offense of the 4.

In fact, in the playoffs Stafford was the only pure pocket QB who won a playoff game this year. Goff, Darnold, Wilson, and Love, the other mostly pocket QB's all lost.

So he has to figure he can win with that added dimension and probably is looking forward to developing a QB with that skillset.

Yes, I know making assumptions, but that's what we do.

I think it's a fair assumption. He liked what Wolford could provide as a runner and said so.

As long as the Rams are making plans for us to stay competitive for years to come and not just the next year or two, I'll be fine with whatever is decided.

Get what done ? It’s on Stafford.

Tell KELLY to stop, maybe Jimmy G is the ticket to get him to help the Rams to commit. She gave the playbook.

So your argument is using another player that isn't Stafford? That's laughable in itself. No one is talking about Gronk. What one player is willing to do has zero bearing on Stafford's intentions. Once again, his wife is actually on record saying they are ok with a trade. Lmao at anyone thinking he's retiring. I'll just wait to hear what hear whar team he plays for this year.
Just giving you an example that it happens. "What one player is willing to do has zero bearing" is an amusing statement.

When "one" player accepts a salary that is super high or low - it helps establish the market. "What one player is willing to do" is actually quite significant when it comes to pro sports.

Plus none of this argument matters anyway because he likely stays.

McVay and Rodgers would be like watching a car crash. Morbidly fun I guess but over very quickly.
Never thought it about like that. If we ever had to "waste" a season reloading this could actually very funny as fuck to watch play out. After getting an earful from McVay after a red zone interception I think it would be funny as hell to watch him quit on his team, walk off the field with McVay yelling at him, and leave the damn game for good. Then McVay inserts Kyle McChord, 3rd draft pick) and we don't lose the rest of the year.

I can't buy this New York thing for Stafford. Although everybody here believes Stafford will someday be a hall of famer that is not the case around the entire NFL. If he is truly on the fence for Canton finishing his career with 2 dismal seasons will not enhance his chances for the hall. Even he has to know this.

I don't think I said that... I never used the word "morbidly". So just saying that was a misquote. Must have tried to quote someone else.

I too believe he'll stay. I also doubt most QBs care about old Stafford setting the market unless they are old QBs themselves. Being young definitely has it advantages of securing a better contract if the talent level is the same. Hope they settle this sooner than later regardless of what happens.
