I don't like him, but to say he is done, he had 28 tds and 11 ints playing with a weak offensive roster. Stafford was 20-8, with a better staff and supporting cast once they got healthy in week 6.
Think I watched all of two Jets games this past year, maybe three. Wasn't impressed, plus the age... I don't think that's good enough for McVay, who has the very highest of expectations from his QB.
If we bring him in, then it would have to be cheap I'd imagine, as we would be eating a massive cap hit for Stafford's trade and the Rams have already said they don't want to spread a cap hit into the future with an old QB. Seems unlikely, unless Rodgers is thinking title run and takes a discount.
What I would expect is Jimmy gets signed away, because in combo he has the touch of the leprechaun upon him and also because he doesn't fit the field stretcher McVay prefers. I mean how many screens did we run in that one game. McVay already said he doesn't want to live that way. So the best fit for knowing the offense to perform the bridge role is Cousins. Now most will get all crazy about the mention of Cousins but he and McVay know each other well, and after failing with Atlanta if Cousins realizes he's a bridge dude now then it should be an easier transition for him.
Btw I realize Cousins is similar to Jimmy in his lack of field stretching ability. But I think he will be cheaper than Jimmy basically, as he's got the stench of fail on him. We'll see though.
