Sneads Jekyl and Hyde approach has pissed away more picks then any GM I can remember.

To aquire and then dump Goff:

4 first round picks
2 second round picks
3 3rd round picks.

That is 9 premium picks.

He sold 9 premium picks for an old recently injured QB that has played the majority of his career with a Hall
Of Fame WR. A QB that has no playoff wins.

If he wins a Super Bowl he is a Genius. Otherwise he’s a Buffoon.

Welcome to last weeks discussion.

I admit that I really do appreciate what Les Snead has done for the Rams and HINDSIGHT is Very EASY to do but I think the deals that he (The Rams) made with Todd Gurley and Jared Goff may haunt him and the Rams for awhile even though many thought those deals were probably pretty good at that time.

And, Even though I think it is Amazing what he and Sean McVay have done with the Rams in such a short time I do think the Rams need to win at least one Superbowl or two before he or McVay can be considered with the NFL’s Best!

Agree with the last part. Les Snead is actually the middle man on those deals. Jeff Fisher wanted Jared Goff & whatever the scouting report was is what is was. I was not a Fan of the trade & sort of pissed when I heard about it. Only because of Nick Foles & Case Keenan were The Rams QB’s.Todd Gurley had a EXCELLENT 2nd half of his rookie season.
— Anyways It’s Demoff & Mcvay who decide on players.Les Snead finds them.He maybe not always be right, but he does have balls to find value.

Ozzie Newsome
Period

Well if you look back at the meger from Cleveland to Baltimore it shows
what an excellent Coaching/GM tree they had.
Then you look at that 49ers Walsh/Carmen police Tree & it ruined the Cleveland Browns organization.
Andy Reed is alright.
McSnead together are only getting better each season.Green Bay,Cinncy & Detroit & Chargers.

Extending Goff early was a fairly large mistake.

But most of his trades have worked out, and most of the free agent decisions have worked out (both signing and letting players leave). I think compared to the other current GMs, his combination of drafting, FA decisions and trades probably still make him the best in the NFL in spite of a few contract missteps

I think he is currently one of the best in the league. He’s the most innovative anyway. But how do we know he made the decision to extend Goff? Or give Gurley that over the top contract?

Ok respectful debate.

I can understand the debate about all the stuff about Klosterman era's. Jmho and always will be back in 60s 70s they didn't know much about any college kid.

Heck we drafted a Qb that couldn't throw 35 yards at 1 overall lol.

But let's move away from that,ERA, how in the world does Snead match Vermiel ?

Pace legend.

Holt legend.

Faulk legend.

Kurt legend and I'm sure there's more.

O and btw imho, it hasn't been Snead that got us where we are, but McV and staff.

Point and Counter point Jeff Fisher and crew.

Which QB did they draft that couldn’t throw the ball 35 yards?

Sneads Jekyl and Hyde approach has pissed away more picks then any GM I can remember.

That entire Goff thing is warped. Fisher had the final say. Sure Snead liked Goff too but who knows if he would have traded up for him? You cannot lay that all on him.

Then McVay comes along and decides he’s taken Goff as far as he can. He tells Snead he wants Stafford. So Snead gets him.

You cannot eliminate the driving forces on these decisions and lay it all on Snead.

The Rams’ drafts and trades during the 1970s, when Don Klosterman was the top front office man, were off-the-charts.

Was Brady, Manning or Brees considered Elite after their 4th full season in the NFL. The answer is a resounding No.

Is Stafford after 12 years considered elite? lol, NO! Stafford had his first 100 QB rating at year 11. Goff had two by his second year.

It's basically trading 9 premium picks for a QB that has fully matured his talents vs a raw QB that has shown great potential but still has lots to improve. When you have Donald and Ramsey playing at their peak it makes sense to bring in the QB that has the higher efficiency now, but its one hell of a dump of future potential in picks and player.

Pfft, you're being too reasonable. I just need to know does Goff suck or is he the GOAT?

Trent Dilfer and Joe Flacco won Superbowls. I guess they are better than Dan Marino.

The price is high, but it’s a team sport.Mcvay wanted to end there relationship no matter how or what he says about all the good things Jared Goff did with The Rams.
Yeah- Drew Brees at San Diego was questionable. To think Rivers just retired & Bree’s ??? I’m not predicting the future right now.Les Snead was able to get out of the Jared Goff contract no matter what you may think or feel.
I will say I’m ready for a change & am a Rams Fan.Personally I like the move especially if The Rams can get Matthew Stafford signed to a solid contract.
You can put up all the numbers you want.I know Jared Goff took The Rams to the SuperBowl & it’s about the W’s.Right now Stafford is 0-0. Elite ? Will be what comes after that if the W’s & Championships follow.

I've been following these two teams for a long time. But I'd take Brett Veach over any current GM. Of course there are a few blemishes but many gems.

Andy Reid says that he fixes the best cup of coffee, and never forgets to pick up the dry cleaning. What more do you need from a GM?
Oh, wait a minute....

Veach is pretty aggressive. The KC GM acts more independently than your assertion implies. For instance Andy shows his loyalty to players while Veach just cut both starting T's. He leaves his mark. The man has a vision.

Sneed has been pretty aggressive as well. I'd say it comes down to who pushed for their current QB's, often the deciding factor. Sneed pushed for Goff, just traded a boat load for Stafford. Veach pounded the table for Mahomes and just extended him. I think that's fair.
